Police say a woman was shot while heading eastbound toward Yerba Buena Island around 830 last night. Youre looking at video of the victims car. Police say the suspects fired multiple shots at that car while it was going through a tunnel. We know the woman was taken to the hospital, but the extent of her injuries is not known. This morning. It looks like a callback is advising that they were shot. They were heading eastbound towards oakland inside a blue toyota camry. Again, medics are responding as well. Code three. They were shot going through the tunnel. Gunshot victim to the leg. Conscious breathing. Authorities say they dont have a list of suspects or even know the motive behind this shooting. Abc7 news was on scene as police investigated. And you can see all this led to massive backups on a busy saturday night. All of the lanes on the bay bridge reopened at around 1030 last night. The Sheriffs Office says the standoff began after deputies found a man shot near Lancaster Circle in bay point, right around 130 in the morning. Really crazy to see all these flowers and see everyone come together. So i wanted to be a part of it. Organizers say the goal is to raise awareness that is about human rights violations. New this morning, lawmakers for the city of san jose are applauding a Police Transparency bill that is now law. The measure adjusts current state law to give Law Enforcement agencies the power to disclose when and why an officer has been fired. Agencies usually need to request to announce and detail the firing of an officer for misconduct. According to our partners at the mercury news, the city of san jose sponsored the bill following a Sexual Misconduct case involving an officer in 2022, in the east bay. Now, there are concerns after officials discovered algae may be the cause of oaklands lake merritt red water. The city first reported the red discoloration on thursday. Officials believe it was caused by algae bloom. The bloom produces a toxin that sucks oxygen out of the water, hurting marine life. Officials have said this bloom isnt as severe as past years. More california students will be attending uc schools in the fall. Officials say the uptick is driven by a rise in applications from transfer students. California residents and students from historically underrepresented groups. Applications rose by 9 between 2023 and 2024. Transfer applicants from California Community colleges are also up by 8.
