At least eight people were hurt when a man drove into diners in san jose. This is video of the aftermath at dynasty chinese Seafood Restaurant. This happened yesterday afternoon. This Outdoor Dining setup quickly turned into people scrambling to save their lives when police tell us the driver of this toyota 4runner was trying to park his vehicle and accidentally hit the gas and plowed into the chairs and tables here. We want to show you moments after this chaotic crash that happened at grand century plaza. Many of the people in the video were under that white tent eating. San jose police say it happened just before 12 30. Eight victims were taken to the hospital. Two with life threatening injuries. Their driver was also taken to the hospital. Heres what else they saw . He stepped on the gas. The back tires started to peel. The smoke started kicking up. He jumped the lane, went across the front entrance, jumped that lane, all these lanes and plowed into that first canopy right there. You can only imagine how terrifying it was for people to see that car going towards them. At least one eyewitness told us they were concerned there were no barriers blocking off the area to make it safer for diners. While this is not a requirement for Outdoor Dining in san jose, we do know some areas do have those concrete slabs to try to protect people who are dining outside. A protest is planned today in response to an officer killing a suspec this weekend in San Francisco. An attempted carjacking suspect was shot and killed by an sfpd officer saturday night after that suspect led police on a chase through the city. Police say the driver crashed at market and golf streets before running to otis street. At least one officer shot the suspect and that man died at the scene. Police say they recovered a knife. That incident was captured on body cameras. Police, the d. A. s office and the medical examiner are investigating. And new details about the San Francisco firefighter killed in the line of duty last week. Jason cortez died after he was knocked over a third floor fire. Ercise.
