Sfo is offering testing, covid Rapid Testing for 250 a person here at the Oakland Airport theyre offering it for free. That is starting today here at the Oakland Airport. You can get tested and theyre offering for their employees and their passengers. You do need an appointment. It open from 9 00 to 6 00 every day. The airport says thanks to this testing their embroiies can come to work with a Greater Peace of mind. Now for those traveling to hawaii, this is who this really impacts because starting next week you have to have proof that you tested negative for covid. If you do that, the islands will make you quarantine for two weeks. United airlines at sfo responded to that and offered Rapid Testing for those passengers right there at the airport who need to get to hawaii but 250 a person. Oakland is now offering it for free with airport officials saying that is the east bay way. And that Oakland International is the peoples airport. Your test doesnt have to come from the airport. You can still go to your own medical provider. This is just an option the airports are providing for convenience. Nw, one Important Note here at oakland its off site. Its not here at the terminal. He bought it days before the glass fire broke out and it didnt have insurance yet. The glass fire has wiped out more than 1,200 buildings and as abc7 News Reporter kate larsen reports for the captain, the fire couldnt have started at a worse time. When we got up here i could see the first structure i saw was my brothers house over there that had burned. Reporter moments later santa rosa fire captain Mike Musgrove saw what had happened to his own home. Right here would have been the front door. That was going to be where we started this project, this dream that we had. Reporter mike, his brother and two other santa rosa families pooled together to buy the 37 acre sonoma property at auction seen here in photos before the glass fire hit. They closed on friday, september 25th. Our number one priority was to get insurance on the property on monday and so the fire hit santa rosa sunday night and i went into work. Reporter while mike was evacuating santa rosa seniors and protecting homes his own home which he just owned for 48 hours was burning nearby. Its heartbreaking to say the least. Reporter mike was inspired to buy this property and really start a new kind of life because of his oldest daughter, olivia, who passed away unexpecting one year ago this week. After olivias passing i wrote down things on a white board and at the top it is to be more patient. To lead with my heart and be more compassionate and thats kind of the theme of what we wanted to build up here. Reporter all the Property Owners are single parents. Mikes daughter ava is 17 and was looking forward to a fresh start on st. Helena road. The saying is take it one day at a time and sometimes its one hour at a time and one minute at a time just to get through and keep moving forward. Of course, this is a forecast fro the bay area air Quality Management district when they update, ill let you know. Look smoke forecast model and you can see, yeah, pretty clean for the most part today and then as we head to the overnight hours and there is a chance of smoke as the winds start to shift a little bit. So, wednesday could feature a little more smoke than today, according to this model. But look what happens thursday. We finally get that whole change in the atmosphere and everything starts to clean out. Were still looking at pretty much smoky conditions across the state with low 90s through the Central Valley to 105 in palm springs. Heres a sneak peek at what is going to happen friday and saturday. An arrest has been made in two brutal assaults in San Franciscos tenderloin neighborhood. And each case the victim was an asian woman. The son of a 7 1yearold victim who was attacked two weeks ago. You see here. Another asian senior who was 78 years old was also attacked a week earlier in the same area blocks from the police station. He repeatedly called police to report the crime but that they didnt do much. For Something Like this to happen shocked me and im still in denial. They should get immediate support from the police and from the da and i think that that didnt happen. The 34yearold suspect is charged with felony assault and elder abuse. Supervisor matt haney is making a push for Law Enforcement to better communicate with victims of these crimes. Vallejo police chief confirms that hes been getting complaints about an employee using in communication. Numerous employees brought it to his attention. He didnt specify where it has appeared. He has ordered an outside investigation into this investigation. Governor newsom has nominated the first openly gay man and third black man to the states supreme court. Increasing clouds and today is the last day of a summer spread and our last spare the air day. Cleaner and cooler air beginning tomorrow and a couple chances of rain friday and saturday. A one light on the storm impact scale. Heres a look at your fog forecast for the immediate forecast. And you can see even as we head up to noon, theres still going to be a little bit hanging around the bay and some high clouds will be revealed once those low clouds move completely back to the coast. So, lets see what our temperatures end up today. How about upper 70s to low 80s through most of the south bay. And then los gatos and morgan hill and gilroy. Some of our remember waer neighborhoods. 73 to 78 on the peninsula today. Mid 60s along the coast. Upper 60s and low 70s for Downtown SouthSan Francisco and sausalito and mid to upper 80s through the north bay valleys. Along the east bay shore mid to upper 70s until you get to union city, fremont and also newark. Some low 80s there and the 90s are prevalent again in the east bay valleys. Tonight, look at the cool 40s up in the north bay the rest of us in the low to upper 50s and a little drizzle possible in our higher elevations. Thats going to jump start our cooling trend that will see us drop about four to ten degrees tomorrow.
