At this point, we have a few individuals that are standing by, one which is one of our trauma surgeons who happened to be on duty this morning and was one of the individuals that responded. And just as a final note, we know that this is the beginning of a process that will take many days months in order to support this community to ensure that we are able to move forward as a community. Not only do we provide services to the community as a health organization, but many of our employees live the majority of them live in this community as well as a number of them have children who attend schools in this community. Trauma surgeons came in to back us up and we were more than capable and available to operate on multiple victims today in which we did. And that being said the last thing we need to remember is there are more victims than just the ones in the hospital. There are families, classmates, and the community, and we would like to offer the hospital as a resource for these victims. Upon that, we triaged, treated, and transported seven patients, six shooting victims and one nonshooting related. One patient transported by helicopter and three by and the other six by ground transport. And they went to the hospitals of holy cross. And with that, i just want to recognize and thank the unified command and the cooperating assisting agencies on such a traumatic incident. We had several of our First Responders had children, their children, in the school attending classes, attending the school at that time. And i want to thank the Sheriffs Department and the hphp hospitals involved and the Ambulance Companies in the Quick Response and professional care. That is john preston, a musician, firefighter, and veteran. His song, superman falls is about his corp koer veteran. Whats your goal with the walk . To put it clearly, i want people to stop killing themselves. Lets lay it out there as clear as we can. Weve got 22 veteran suicides a day right now. We have 22 . 22. And then almost one a day Police Officer suicides and one in every three days firefighters are taking their own lives. So, we want to come at this as hard as we can to say theres people here, there are options here, there are things we can do. Please just stop taking your life. You mentioned that you think theres a disconnect between regular citizens and veterans. Why do you think thats the case . Theres a different mindset, right . Theres a mission given. You have to accomplish that mission. Plus the veteran community is seen now 18 years straight of war now. Weve seen a lot in life to grow up really fast. So, theres that suck it up mentality. Theres those concepts that are keeping people from going out getting help. Thats where were trying to say its okay, lets do this. Do you think for guys, and maybe women as well, but i can relate more to the male situation where guys think theres a stigma attached with therapy or trying to get help. Is that a big issue to overcome . Yeah, absolutely. As a firefighter, i still see that in the fire service. Were trying to address it there. Theres Police Chiefs coming out as a union saying were supporting this. We want people to get help. So, its knocking away that fear that im going to lose my job or people are going to look down at me and see me as weak and going out getting the help needed. We heard the clip from your song. How is the music received so far . And why superman falls as a title . Im fortunate with how its gone. Superman falls was in the top 20. I was in the charts with metallica, pretty cool. That was my familys superman. He was the oldest of the family and a confidant. He was a Police Officer for 20 years. I always looked up to him and wanted to be like him. To lose him and that to go down, we lost our superman. I want people to see whats going on. People thinking about suicide, youre destroying a family no matter how much you think they dont love you. Lets get back to the hike. Youre going to be hiking 22 miles per day over 26 days. Can other people join with you to walk or is it a solo endeavor . Anyone is welcome to come. And were going to post our schedule at 22andyou. Net. Were going to post the schedule so people can see it when it starts in january. But were going to be inviting guests as well and filming them and interviewing them. We have some special people that are going to tell their stories and people that have also lost others to suicide whether its a Police Officer or veteran suicide. Theyre going to be coming in and sharing their lives and sharing what theyve done to go forward as well. So, anyone is welcome. Were going to rock the whole coast and hopefully thousands of people come and attend. Thats what were looking for. For people that want to get involved and help whether it be walking alongside you or sponsorship support, where do they go . You can always hit me up on facebook, john preston music, or go to 22andyou. Net and directly donate. Everything is tax deductible that were doing. Its all going to be charitable. Were going to be raising money for nonprofits as we go along on the actual hike. I know youve got Cool Technology youre going to be wearing adds well. Yeah. Weve got a lot of different things. H wave is hooking us up with the pain reliever. Thats been awesome. Just just the concept of being out here and going on this journey, i did a 22mile hike in june and it kind of set me in this direction because it hurt so bad and i thought to myself, man, like, if we could document how this physically hurts and see this is going to be 27 days of this to know and understand that that pain is nothing compared to what its like to being a little brother that lost his older brother to suicide. So, we want people to be able to visualize what this pain actually is and try to go get help instead of hurting themselves and destroying their families. Well, john, thanks for coming in. We certainly wish you the best and well keep track of your adventure as well as the documentary when you put it all together. Yes, sir. John preston.
