Police chief scott also confirmed that there are also more bilingual Police Officers here in chinatown, but the chief really wants people to know this, that police have made a bunch of arrests, specifically eight to ten arrests since july for street robberies and assaults in chinatown. Data released by the fbi shows there were 24 hate crime murders. That includes the 11 worshippers at a pittsburgh, pennsylvania, synagogue. Thats the most since records began being kept in 1991. Overall, hate crimes dropped slightly in 2018 following three years of increases. Agencies reported a total of 7,120 hate crime incidents. Over half of those incidents were motivated by a race, ethnicity ancestry come opponpo. Most of those against africanamericans. Six victims of the gilroy garlic festival filed a lawsuit. Every one of us in the family going to therapy. I mean just walking to my car is a chore. Reporter their lawsuit seeks unspecified damages above 25,000 against the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association. Various Security Companies and other unnamed defendants, alleging negligent security measures allowed the gunman to break into the festival through a fence. They want to make sure that promoters of public events, like the gilroy garlic festival, take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of the attendees of the event. They did not do that here. They failed miserably. Reporter the Gilroy Garlic Festival Association issued a statement that says in part, the lawsuit filed today stemming from a horrific act of domestic terrorism is not unexpected, and we will respond through the appropriate legal channels. They went to check on it and left their 8yearold and 11yearold sons in their apartment. There was gunfire, many shots fired. Misty smith walton died. She was six months pregnant with a baby girl. Her husband survived and was hospitalized. Someone who knows him told abc 7 news he described feeling the bullets go past him and hitting him. One of they are children is a student here. This is a situation that you never wanting to see anywhere. Anywhere. And its just its outrageous that anybody would do this. New at 6 00, a horseback rider had to be rescued at mt. Diablo after a horse threw him. The Contra Costa CountySheriffs Office released this video taken late last month. A helicopter had to hoist the man to safety. He had a leg injury and wasnt able to walk and an ambulance couldnt get to him. The horse was fine and the rider is recovering. Theres still no verdict in the hillsborough heiress murder trial. Green was the father of lis two children. His body was found in may of 2016, two weeks after reported missing. Prosecutors say li lured green to her mansion where he was shot and killed. They have argued lis bodyguard killed green during a botched kidnapping. Thousands of university of California Workers are set to go on strike tomorrow. The union that represents 25,000 uc workers statewide says the oneday strike is in response to efforts to outsource jobs. Those positions include service and patient care technical workers.
