for the week ahead of beginning tomorrow. i'll have my accuweather seven-day forecast in a few minutes. this morning the federal government is shut down. the senate failed to approve a short-term deal to fund the government for another month. the bill had already passed in the house. at the heart of the debate, defefrd action for child hoold arrives, also known as daca. democrats want to guarantee brokes for nearly 800,000 brought to american as a child. >> they want to shove aside millions of americans for the sake of irresponsible political gains. >> the blame you this crash entirely on president trump's shoulders. this will be called a trump shutdown. >> the white house says negotiations on daca are off until the government reopens. lawmakers are working through the weekend to try great military or safety at our dangerous southern border. they could have easily made a deal but decided to play shutdown politics instead. we need more republicans in 2018 in order to power through mess. despite the shutdown northern california's federal courts will stay open and mail service will continue. yosemite national park will also remain open but with limited services. alcatraz will stay open to tours and the presidio will be mostly open. one potentially dane rouse closure though is the cdc's flu program. this is one of the most severe flu seasons in years. the shutdown means marzullo has the story now from downtown san jose. >> everyone is welcome here, no hate, no fear. >> reporter: the first women's march was a reaction to president trump taking office. this year it's different. >> it is a proactive march. >> reporter: they will mark from city hall to rein green near the sap center. there community organizations will be waiting. >> for people learning how they can get engaged in the community on issues they care about, immigration, reproductive rights, protection for survivors of domestic violence. >> reporter: the theme in 20181 hear our vote. >> this year we are really focused on action and teping people create change by getting more people registered to vote and actually commit to voting. >> reporter: san francisco is expecting at least 80,000 people. there is a rally at civic plaza at noon. the march begins at noon. there are also events planned in santa rosa, sonoma, napa, pava, and walnut creek. >> we have taken our democracy for granted too much, i believe. let's not be so complacent. >> it's exciting to see the increased participation of so many people when have been passive for so long. >> reporter: millions marched last year. it was considered the largest single day demonstration in u.s. history. in san francisco, katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> a large turnout is expected for the women's march in contra costa. abc news caught up with march organizers in walnut creek as they were getting ready. last year they were expecting 500 marchers but 10,000 came out the support equality and justice. they feel like the march voices to 3-year-old boy on interstate 680 will be spending at least the next two years in prison. yaranit mall hin was sentenced yesterday. despite protests from the baby's family she will likely only serve a fraction of her stns. >> reporter: investigators say yaranit mall hin was out on bail in a pending dui case and under the flufls of drugs when she crashed her suv into a car stalled on the shoulder of interstate 680 in san ramon. the september 2016 collision killed 3-year-old elijah dunn, injured his mother, and emotionally scarred two other children in the car. >> we will all have to be in heathrow airport and sent back to chicago where she was arrested. in recent years hartman tried to board and fly without a ticket from several airports including shone san jose, sfo and oakland international. new details on the pleasant hills teenager paralyzed during a wrestling match. generous donors contributed more than $122,000 to his go fund me account for medical expenses. it's an attempt to stop a mayoral candidate from accessing hundreds of thousands of dollars in public financing money. the chronicle reports state senator mark leno can use the funds he has raised since announcing his candidacy for san francisco mayor last fall to apply for a matching public finance money from the city. another candidate, angela al yoet audio sued the campaign last week to try to cars and heard a scream and a shot. that was it. and then she was height hiding snook. >> reporter: detectives suspect 67-year-old winston hue shot the victim, a 65 weerld woman, multiple times, then monday. this system focuses on the north bay with anywhere from .8 to 2 inches of rain. elsewhere, a quarter of an inch to 3/4 of an inch it will be breezy at times. tomorrow afternoon the rain is together in of cloverdale. by midnight it six of south. all in the north bay. through the overnight hours just in time for the monday morning ride, rain from san francisco, vallejo, san francisco. and with the developments for us. maggie a lot to talk about. >> reporter: chris, that number is certainly shocking to hear. now, in addition to the shutdown, today also marks exactly one year since president trump took office. and clearly the political ballots is as heated as ever. the government is shut down. and both sides are taking shots. >> the blame should crash entirely on president trump's shoulders. this will be called the trump shutdown. >> we've just witnessed on the floor was a cynical decision by senate democrats to shove aside millions of americans for the sake of irresponsible political gains. >> reporter: top lawmakers and president trump met throughout the day scrambling to make a last-minute compromise. yet by the midnight deadline, still no deal. democratic lawmakers say they won't pass a spending bill unless they get guaranteed protections for d.r.e.a.m.ers, the nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the u.s. as children. >> where the story. >> reporter: one county, one future. that message is splashed all over vta buses throughout the south bay. why? santa clara county officials know the immigrants who live here are fearful about plump's agenda. >> we are hearing about the massive raids that are going to take placement we are getting ready. we are getting ready to fight because the only way to respond to that hatred and bigotry is to push back. >> reporter: top leaders in the county held a news conference letting everyone know they will not be intimidated and they are offering help to the immigrant commune. the general consulate from mexico was on hand. >> for the mexican government it's important to have this kind of partnership with santa clara county that they recognize the contribution of the mexican commune in this area. >> reporter: the county wants to gets the word out that mental health services are available to anyone who is feeling anxious about possible deportation. free or low cost legal assistance is also being offed. >> santa clara county has invested $3.5 million to work with community based organizations to provide them access to immigration attorneys. >> reporter: besides these buses there will be billboards up on the freeway and at bus stops throughout the south bay promoting the county's support for the immigrant community. 60% of families in the county have a member who is an immigrant or a u.s. born child of an immigrant. with numbers that large, local officials say they are committed to protecting the most vulnerable communities. in san jose, gentleman dean de laing vega abc 7 news. the supreme court will hear arguments in april and decide the legal it of the latest version of president trump's travel ban. the policy applies to residents of six muslim-majority countries as well as north korea and some people from venezuela. last month a federal appeals court ruled that the ban violates federal immigration law. the supreme court allowed the the system and you can see a system offshore. it affects us in time for the monday morning commute. here's a look at numbers right now. 45 downtown, 41 across the bay. 43 in hayward with 35 here in los gatos. 35 in fairfield. 33 in napa. mid 30s and livermore and santa rosa. with the clear sky and the coal air mass in place we have winds in upper elevations as well. mount tam gusting to 42 miles an hour. half moon bay gusting to 18. you can see atlas peak. breezy here. we are looking for the john shore ownent today. cool but sunny out there. certainly cold from the peninsula to the south bay. everywhere feeling the chill. as we look outside you can see the camera shaking a bit here with cold conditions, near freezing in spots. bright and cool for the afternoon. somewhat near average. then several more chances of rain throughout the week ahead. focusing mainly on the north bay but everyone will pick up some rain. today's highs in the 50s downtown. 56 in palo alto. breezy at times. as well as fremont, napa and santa rosa. let's bring in the storm impact scale. it is a one late tomorrow into monday with the rain focusing in the north bay, up to an inch. elsewhere, quarter of an inch to 3/4. here's the time line. tomorrow afternoon 3:00 high and mid-level clouds with rain to the north. by the time we get through the bulk of the day and midnight it's still in the north bay. you can see it's raining here from santa rosa and light rain through central marin county. by 6:00 monday morning here comes the front as it pushes through the bay area. pulls out by mid afternoon and we are left with a dry commute for your monday afternoon. abilities, once again, anywhere from over an inch to two inches in santa rosa and ukiah. just about a quarter of an inch in san francisco and oakland. maybe .2 in san jose that rain shadow effect in the south bay, always lesser amounts there. wednesday morning looks like we are dry for the commute. as we get to the afternoon we are wet. hours. chilly out there. sunny conditions by noontime, in the low 50s. and by 4:00 in the afternoon we are looking at more sunshine. but a cool day today. we have several chances of rain to talk about for the week ahead of beginning tomorrow. i'll have my accuweather seven-day forecast in a few minutes. this morning the federal government is shut down. the senate failed to approve a short-term deal to fund the government for another month. the bill had already passed in the house. at the heart of the debate, defefrd action for child hoold arrives, also known as daca. democrats want to guarantee brokes for nearly 800,000 brought to american as a child. >> they want to shove aside millions of americans for the sake of irresponsible political gains. >> the blame you this crash entirely on president trump's shoulders. this will be called a trump shutdown. >> the white house says negotiations on daca are off until the government reopens. lawmakers are working through the weekend to try and strike a deal. president trump is up early this morning, blaming democrats for the shutdown on twitter. he says democrats are far more concerned with illegal immigrants than they are with our great military or safety at our dangerous southern border. they could have easily made a deal but decided to play shutdown politics instead. we need more republicans in 2018 in order to power through mess. despite the shutdown northern california's federal courts will stay open and mail service will continue. yosemite national park will also remain open but with limited services. alcatraz will stay open to tours and the presidio will be mostly open. one potentially dane rouse closure though is the cdc's flu program. this is one of the most severe flu seasons in years. the shutdown means local health departments will collect flu samples but cdc will not test them, which is necessary to detect new strains. for a complete look at the impact of the government shutdown here in the bay marzullo has the story now from downtown san jose. >> everyone is welcome here, no hate, no fear. >> reporter: the first women's march was a reaction to president trump taking office. this year it's different. >> it is a proactive march. >> reporter: they will mark from city hall to rein green near the sap center. there community organizations will be waiting. >> for people learning how they can get engaged in the community on issues they care about, immigration, reproductive rights, protection for survivors of domestic violence. >> reporter: the theme in 20181 hear our vote. >> this year we are really focused on action and teping people create change by getting more people registered to vote and actually commit to voting. >> reporter: san francisco is expecting at least 80,000 people. there is a rally at civic plaza at noon. the march begins at noon. there are also events planned in santa rosa, sonoma, napa, pava, and walnut creek. >> we have taken our democracy for granted too much, i believe. let's not be so complacent. >> it's exciting to see the increased participation of so many people when have been passive for so long. >> reporter: millions marched last year. it was considered the largest single day demonstration in u.s. history. in san francisco, katie marzullo, abc7 news. >> a large turnout is expected for the women's march in contra costa. abc news caught up with march organizers in walnut creek as they were getting ready. last year they were expecting 500 marchers but 10,000 came out the support equality and justice. they feel like the march voices to people. >> it's great to see the increased participation of people who have been so passive for so long. it's about time that people stand up. >> the event begins at 10:00 a.m. in civic park in walnut 3-year-old boy on interstate 680 will be spending at least the next two years in prison. yaranit mall hin was sentenced yesterday. despite protests from the baby's family she will likely only serve a fraction of her stns. >> reporter: investigators say yaranit mall hin was out on bail in a pending dui case and under the flufls of drugs when she crashed her suv into a car stalled on the shoulder of interstate 680 in san ramon. the september 2016 collision killed 3-year-old elijah dunn, injured his mother, and emotionally scarred two other children in the car. >> we will all have to be in counselling the rest of our lives probably. she left a huge, huge, huge, horrible impact on my family. after two years she is just going to go on with her life. >> reporter: she pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter with a enhance member. she gave an emotional plea deal in court. she will serve only half of her sentence and with time served she could be out by 2020. >> that's not ticket. chicago police sent this new booking photo to abc news, official snuck past security at o'hare airport and got on a british airways flight to london ticketless. she was caught by border at at heathrow airport and sent back to chicago where she was arrested. in recent years hartman tried to board and fly without a ticket from several airports including shone san jose, sfo and oakland international. new details on the pleasant hills teenager paralyzed during a wrestling match. generous donors contributed more than $122,000 to his go fund me account for medical expenses. it's reported the warriors also sent ryan joseph a replica of the nba championship ring and a signed basketball. ryan has been on a ventilator in the icu since injuring his spinal cord last week. he had a an attempt to stop a mayoral candidate from accessing hundreds of thousands of dollars in public financing money. the chronicle reports state senator mark leno can use the funds he has raised since announcing his candidacy for san francisco mayor last fall to apply for a matching public finance money from the city. another candidate, angela al yoet audio sued the campaign last week to try to stop his attempts to do so. she claims it gives him an unfair advantage compared to other candidates who have recently begun to fund race. the special election is june 5th. police located the suspect me hysterical because she saw all the police on the block and didn't know what was happening and she was afraid. >> reporter: eric's wife called him before he drove him. >> she said she heard police cars and heard a scream and a shot. that was it. and then she was height hiding snook. >> reporter: detectives suspect 67-year-old winston hue shot the victim, a 65 weerld woman, multiple times, then drove away. in a rare move, authorities are are investigating last year's deadly mass shooting in las vegas released crime scene photographs and key information about the gunman stephen paddock. the what's called a real id in california. these are the enhanced id cards that meet new federal standards and will soon be required. starting in 2020, your current driver's license will no longer be enough to board a domestic flight. the dmv hired 300 new employees to help with processing applications for the new ids. you have to go to a field office, bring current id, proof of social security looking for bright and cool conditions in the afternoon. and several more rainy days in the next seven days. so highs today underneath all of that sunshine, 55 in san francisco. look for 56 in fremont. near average today with 50s on the coast and those winds coming off of those chilly ocean waters. 57, san jose. we are going to bring in our storm impact sail scale for late tomorrow into monday. this system focuses on the north bay with anywhere from .8 to 2 inches of rain. elsewhere, a quarter of an inch to 3/4 of an inch it will be breezy at times. tomorrow afternoon the rain is together in of cloverdale. by midnight it six of south. all in the north bay. through the overnight hours just in time for the monday morning ride, rain from san francisco, vallejo, san francisco. and then it breaks up by the early morning hours. amounts focused heavily in the north bay, up to an inch in napa. over an inch in santa rosa. and over a tenth in redwood city, smaller amounts there. as we go through the west of the week, we will pick this up on wednesday morning. notice the commute looks dry but things could change here and the bulk of the precip once again in the north bay wednesday afternoon into wednesday night. this system breaks up on thursday. notice still some snow and cold air. picking this up with the first rainfalltion/monday, you notice the small amount of with the developments for us. maggie a lot to talk about. >> reporter: chris, that number is certainly shocking to hear. now, in addition to the shutdown, today also marks exactly one year since president trump took office. and clearly the political ballots is as heated as ever. the government is shut down. and both sides are taking shots. >> the blame should crash entirely on president trump's shoulders. this will be called the trump shutdown. >> we've just witnessed on the floor was a cynical decision by senate democrats to shove aside millions of americans for the sake of irresponsible political gains. >> reporter: top lawmakers and president trump met throughout the day scrambling to make a last-minute compromise. yet by the midnight deadline, still no deal. democratic lawmakers say they won't pass a spending bill unless they get guaranteed protections for d.r.e.a.m.ers, the nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the u.s. as children. >> where the story. >> reporter: one county, one future. that message is splashed all over vta buses throughout the south bay. why? santa clara county officials know the immigrants who live here are fearful about plump's agenda. >> we are hearing about the massive raids that are going to take placement we are getting ready. we are getting ready to fight because the only way to respond to that hatred and bigotry is to push back. >> reporter: top leaders in the county held a news conference letting everyone know they will not be intimidated and they are offering help to the immigrant commune. the general consulate from mexico was on hand. >> for the mexican government it's important to have this kind of partnership with santa clara county that they recognize the contribution of the mexican commune in this area. >> reporter: the county wants to gets the word out that mental health services are available to anyone who is feeling anxious about possible deportation. free or low cost legal assistance is also being offed. >> santa clara county has invested $3.5 million to work with community based organizations to provide them access to immigration attorneys. >> reporter: besides these buses there will be billboards up on the freeway and at bus stops throughout the south bay promoting the county's support for the immigrant community. 60% of families in the county have a member who is an immigrant or a u.s. born child of an immigrant. with numbers that large, local officials say they are committed to protecting the most vulnerable communities. in san jose, gentleman dean de laing vega abc 7 news. the supreme court will hear arguments in april and decide the legal it of the latest version of president trump's travel ban. the policy applies to residents of six muslim-majority countries as well as north korea and some people from venezuela. last month a federal appeals court ruled that the ban violates federal immigration law. the supreme court allowed the the system and you can see a system offshore. it affects us in time for the monday morning commute. here's a look at numbers right now. 45 downtown, 41 across the bay. 43 in hayward with 35 here in los gatos. 35 in fairfield. 33 in napa. mid 30s and livermore and santa rosa. with the clear sky and the coal air mass in place we have winds in upper elevations as well. mount tam gusting to 42 miles an hour. half moon bay gusting to 18. you can see atlas peak. breezy here. we are looking for the john shore ownent today. cool but sunny out there. certainly cold from the peninsula to the south bay. everywhere feeling the chill. as we look outside you can see the camera shaking a bit here with cold conditions, near freezing in spots. bright and cool for the afternoon. somewhat near average. then several more chances of rain throughout the week ahead. focusing mainly on the north bay but everyone will pick up some rain. today's highs in the 50s downtown. 56 in palo alto. breezy at times. as well as fremont, napa and santa rosa. let's bring in the storm impact scale. it is a one late tomorrow into monday with the rain focusing in the north bay, up to an inch. elsewhere, quarter of an inch to 3/4. here's the time line. tomorrow afternoon 3:00 high and mid-level clouds with rain to the north. by the time we get through the bulk of the day and midnight it's still in the north bay. you can see it's raining here from santa rosa and light rain through central marin county. by 6:00 monday morning here comes the front as it pushes through the bay area. pulls out by mid afternoon and we are left with a dry commute for your monday afternoon. abilities, once again, anywhere from over an inch to two inches in santa rosa and ukiah. just about a quarter of an inch in san francisco and oakland. maybe .2 in san jose that rain shadow effect in the south bay, always lesser amounts there. wednesday morning looks like we are dry for the commute. as we get to the afternoon we are wet.
