busy wednesday and we start with that deadly shooting rampage in california. the gunman targeting an elementary school. >> overnight we learned a feud with his neighbors may have sparked the violence. two of his neighbors were among the first victims, but police say this could have been much worse. this morning, schoolteachers and staff in northern california are credited with saving their students' lives during a shooting spree. >> those school officials, there is no doubt in my mind based on the video that i saw, saved countless lives and children. >> reporter: authorities say a gunman killed at least four people in a rampage that stretched across seven locations. >> the individual shooter was bent on engaging and killing people at random. >> reporter: after he apparently shot randomly at several homes, police say the gunman made his way to this elementary school during the busy morning drop-off. >> all of a sudden one of the teachers came running out around the appears that because he couldn't make access to any of the rooms, that they were locked, that he gave it up. >> reporter: the gunman sprayed this truck with bullets hitting a mother and her child. authorities say the shooter, a 43-year-old local man, was known to police following a january arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. one of the four victims killed was a neighbor he was accused of assaulting before that arrest. and this morning, investigators are hinting there could be more victims. >> i'm saying that there are relatives of his that should be home that are not, and we're not overnight, he largely sidestepped the specifics of the allegations against him, and instead he painted what he said was largely a picture of god in america. roy moore is telling alabama voters that he is the victim of a coordinated attack by democrats and washington republicans. >> why do you think they're giving me this trouble? why do you think i'm being harassed by media and by people pushing forth allegations in the last 28 days of this election. >> reporter: but following the fifth woman to come forward with a story of abuse as a teen -- >> i tried fighting him off while yelling at him to stop. >> reporter: -- moore's denials are increasingly falling on deaf ears. >> these allegations are credible. number two, he should -- if he cares about the values and the people he claims to care about, then he should step aside. >> reporter: this comes as we hear about a robo call made to an alabama home in which someone pretending to be a "washington post" reporter offers money for damaging information about roy moore. the voice claiming to be a reporter named bernie bernstein. >> i'm a reporter for "the washington post" calling to find out if anyone at this address is a female option would be a write-in campaign for the former alabama senator and current attorney general jeff sessions. >> the attorney general is totally well known and extremely popular in alabama. and it's a heck of a dilemma when you've got a completely unacceptable candidate bearing a label of your party within a month of the election. >> reporter: for his part sessions said he didn't want to interfere in the election but also sided against moore. >> i am -- have no reason to doubt these young women. >> reporter: now mcconnell says he is confident the president is discussing the rejecting an offer from papadopoulos to set up a meeting between trump and vladimir putin. sessions was also grilled about having to clarify his earlier testimony. >> you did have communications with the russians last year, isn't that right? just yes or no. >> i had a meeting with the russian ambassador, yes. >> that is exactly the opposite answer you gave under oath to the u.s. senate so, again,
