there's been a lot of confusion as to who's actually speaking during this free speech week. meanwhile, the city of berkeley has released a list of banned items, basically anything that could be used as a weapon. the university of california berkeley is preparing for the worst ahead of an event dubbed political week. commentator myron whose event planned in february deteriorated into a riot. >> it got national attention. that's why the people are here. if you would let him speak, none of this would have happened. >> reporter: wasserman debated political organizers who planned to protest. >> we've got to have the whole community coming out to shut them down for the safety thf community. >> reporter: cal's police chief estimates several million will be spent to ensure student safety next week. more officers are being brought in, as has done in the past. this even as the speaker list evolves. >> because of the unknowns, we are treating it as if it's going all the way. >> we are caught between a rock and a hard place. our compliance with the first amendment of the law as a public institution is not discretionary. >> reporter: some students say they're caught in the middle, too. >> feel the burn. in san francisco, lonnie rivera, abc 7 news. the department of homeland security today confirmed that california was one of 21 states where russian hackers targeted election systems. california secretary of state alex padilla said there's no evidence the system was breached or any voter information was compromis compromised. he said it was unacceptable that it took a year to inform him of the attempted breach. a plane is crashed in glen dale, wedged between an apartment building and smart and final store. two men were able to walk away, and no word on what caused that crash. a popular san francisco search for the driver who plowed into him in a fatal hit-and-run. constantine was known from city hall to the streets of the mission as gus. he was 57 years old. gus was but it's the weekend. we're looking for a change. >> sandhya is going to bring it to us. warmth ahead. >> absolutely. i wouldn't have it any other ng rniy and kristen,la this started out chilly. this afternoon was cooler than normal. that's all changing. take a look at the forecast. we're going to see a warming trend for the weekend. fire danger will be running high. it will be heating up inland as we head into next week. you know fall here in the bay area means fire danger. i do want to show you right now what we are watching. it's the north bay hills we're keeping a close eye on. high fire danger heading into saturday afternoon through monday night in. winds will increase out of the northeast, downsloping wind. that northeasterly wind gusting to 25 will lower the humidity, so the fire danger will increase. take a look at the fire danger index. you'll notice the shaowde,s of fire danger. the yellow is concentrated primarily in the north bay hills. this is where you'll have to watch out. i wouldn't let your guard down if you're in the east bay hills. as you know around this time of year, that offshore flow can really ramp up the fire danger. we're facing critical fire weather conditions. clear skies here in the bay area right now. no rain. we're not expecting any. temperatures anywhere from the 40s to the 60s. as we check out the numbers for tomorrow morning, they're going to plunge. it's autumn. you expect it to get cool. mid-40s to the low and mid-50s. it is going to be a clear night. a chilly start to your weekend morning. but for the afternoon, look at these temperatures. it's going to be so mild. 79 degrees in sunnyvale. nice looking day on the peninsula with the numbers coming up. palo alto, 78 degrees. 67 half moon bay. downtown san francisco warming to 70 degrees. 68 in daly city. north bay, temperatures will be primarily in the 70s and fr80 n the beaches. a good day to be out at the beach. east bay, 75 in oakland. 77 in san leandro. inland spots nice and sunny and mild. 81 walnucreek. i do want to show you there's so much happening around the bay and brewfest in san mateo. in the afternoon mild, low to mid-70s. by evening, still remaining comfortable. good idea to take the sunscreen, make sure you have your shades. if you're going to be at lake merrick for the dragon boat festival, look at this, temperatures in the 50s in the morning, 70s in the afternoon, both saturday and sunday. we also have oktoberfest here in san francisco. 59 degrees. sunshine. and warm. 70 degrees by 3:00. temperatures in the low 60s late at night. also good looking weather for that event. cal is taking on usc tomorrow afternoon. low to mid-70s. one other game to talk about, that's the stanford game tomorrow night. 68 degrees. dropping down to 61. download the accuweather app, keep track of the temperature changes. they're changing all right. the seven-day forecast, going up tomorrow, mid-60s to mid-80s. great weekend for the beach. and then next week, turning up the autumn heat. low to mid-90s inland. mid to upper 70s at the coastline. larry and kristen, it's going to get pretty warm around here, above average. >> turning up the autumn heat. >> i love that. >> it's not a scene from a [ engines revving ] when you drop a 603-horsepower v8 biturbo engine into one of mercedes-benz's finest luxury sedans, what do you get?
