we are looking at a wind shift with temperatures this afternoon by mid-morning warming up as rapidly. we have continued our excessive heat warning. it is the advisory for the bay side regions. that is where we will see the biggest drop. mainly inland and the santa clara valley. instead of smoke today, still high and mid level clouds. we're looking at temperatures coming down with temperatures stopping in the 70s today. mid 90s around the bay. how about 106 today inland. more dramatic cooling for the weekend. >> thank you. developing news out of north korea. they appear to have carried out their sixth and most powerful and provocative nook luclear te. they detonated a hydrogen bomb that could be put on a sben intercontinental ballistic missile. let me also tell you that president trump this morning did tweet saying that north korea's actions continue to be hostile and dangerous to the united states. back to that story in a moment, but our other top story, lisa just talked about it, the heat wave. people are trying to escape the heat any way they can in the shade or at the beach. >> it looked like an hot san francisco skyline. they formed human islands to enjoy shade under the unleash fire and furry if north korea continued. none of this seems to be deterring kim. >> they made a thorough inspection of the russian concentrate late after diplomates were told to pack up and get out this weekend. the russians not happy that the trump administration has kicked him out of the san francisco consulate and two others in this country. yesterday russian leaders told a u.s. diplomat in moscow that the searches could be used to "plant compromising objects." the u.s. state department says they're following the law, and it did allow the russi personnel to walk through with u.s. agents. they kept watch over the former consulate building. rush that promised to reciprocate for what they call gross violations. >> new video shows a man attacking an asian woman in san flames trapped 140 hikers in the gorge. helicopters lifted sm of them but some are being sheltered in place. the fire burned at least 50 acres. heavy fire has been seen burning along popular hiking trails along the pacific coast trail. a fire burning near los angeles is now the largest they have ever seen. shifting winds are making the la tuna fire unpredictable. abc news reporter alex stone has more. >> a massive cloud hangs over los angeles. it is a fire known as la tuna wild fire. the flames crept within feet of burbank. fire fighters evacuated hundreds of homes. fighting from the air and standing guard at the end of neighborhood streets as people rush in and out of their houses getting whatever they can into cars. >> it just takes a little wind. >> it is nothing to fool around with. i want to thank those people that have evacuated. i want to say this loud and clear. folks that leave their homes, police assets will stay in the neighborhood. >> the road to safety is full of danger. harvey. it has been blamed for 44 deaths after a man was found in yesterday. president trump and first lady melania were seen handed out meals and touring the area. they are seeking disaster aide d and he say sos far it is moving forward efficiently. >> there's a lot of water, but it is moving out. i think the governor, the relationship with the governor and the mayor and everybody has been fantastic, and with the federal government. >> the epa is reviewing imagery of toxic waste expe inspectors cannot yet access the site, but others have boat or on foot. firefighters arrived at this scene on rossmore parkway. a man was trying to light his barbecue grill when the propane tank flashed on him. he got his family out before the flames spread. two units in the complex were destroyed. two others were damaged, no one was hurt. two of the 13 original marine peers that supported the old bridge were successfully imploded yesterday morning. it caused a brief slow down in traffic. relative humidity. sheer a look at emoryville. 83 in san jose, 74 in gilroy. so we're starting out warm, so even though it will be cooler today, temperatures will be down by the afternoon. we're not it seeps like same old same old. even the national weather service issued an adjustment with a heat advisory along the bay and around the coast. look at the sky here. we have increasing clouds, still a spare the air alert. as the wind shift takes us through the rest of the day, temperatures are cooler. and then by 4:00 this afternoon, temperatures tops over 100 degrees inland. it will feel muggier of world war ii bombs were found. they are clearing out all area within one mile of one of the bombs, they say it has 1.7 tons of explosives and could flatten a city block. thousands evacuated yesterday. police used choppers, using heat detecting cameras to make sure that everyone is gone from both cities before controlled detonations. determineny's bomb disposal unit detonates about 1,000 to 2017 standards to make sure but don't have any problems again. the suspect in last week's deadly shootout that claimed the life of a deputy sheriff has died at the hospital. thomas daniel little cloud is from castro valley. investigators say he killed sheriff's deputy robert french and wounded the chp officers as they were investigating a stolen car in sacramento he died from injuries yesterday. a woman from oakland has been arrested in connection with that incide incident. damaged in the 2014 earthquake. they report the board of supervisors approved a contract with richmond based at times. into your labor day, low to mid 90s feeling like a typical summer afternoon. upper 80s inland, this is where we should be for early september. we will look for a really hot day again today for the scottish high land games. numbers in the 90s by 11:00. 90 in oakland today. you will feel that sea breeze today and everyone feels slightly stickier air. 102 in concord. lows tonight, 60s and
