Public health officials received the first shipment of the recently-approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week. They are setting it aside while they plan how best to deliver it to those who would benefit most from the one-dose vaccine, including people living in rural areas. The county received its first of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine shipment — a 1,400-dose allocation — on Wednesday, Shasta County Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Ramstrom said at a media briefing. "We are working with our vaccine provider partners to determine the best use of that vaccine — until we have really good supplies of that single-dose option," Ramstrom said. "That's in the works right now."
