Public health officials received the first shipment of the recently-approved Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week.
They are setting it aside while they plan how best to deliver it to those who would benefit most from the one-dose vaccine, including people living in rural areas.
The county received its first of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine shipment a 1,400-dose allocation on Wednesday, Shasta County Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Ramstrom said at a media briefing. We are working with our vaccine provider partners to determine the best use of that vaccine until we have really good supplies of that single-dose option, Ramstrom said. That s in the works right now.
