HOLYOKE — Describing himself as a leader who brings people together, School Committee member Devin Sheehan said Friday that he will run for mayor.
In a press event held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sheehan stressed priorities including business growth, better communication with residents about city services and bringing the public school district back under local control.
“I am ready to be a mayor that is responsive to the needs of its citizens,” said Sheehan, the first candidate to make a formal announcement following Mayor Alex B. Morse’s decision not to run for reelection. “I am ready to help grow the economy by not only promoting the city for new business, but a commitment to help our current businesses so they can prosper.”
