Strong Rock Middle School student Brody Spann was among the winners for his essay Water Machinist.
Students were asked to write a 300-500 word essay focusing on how safe water is more important than ever during a pandemic; or, research and write about an essential job of a water professional. Of the 650 entries received, one winner per county was chosen. Each winner received a $100 check and an award certificate from the Metro Water District. As Henry County's winner, Spann received an additional gift card and swag from the Henry County Water Authority.
âHats off to this yearâs essay contest participants,â said Glenn Page, Metro Water District chairman. âTheir work demonstrates an understanding that safe, clean water is absolutely essential for the public health and safety of us all, and that itâs the critical work of water professionals region-wide that ensures our continued access to this vital resource.â
