February 17, 2021 ExxonMobil is promising a âparadigm shiftâ in the properties normally associated with unimodal HDPE resins, with the launch of a new grade of Paxon HDPE. Offering a step-change in environmental stress cracking resistance (ESCR) performance, or processability, Paxon SP5504 is suitable for household and industrial chemical bottles and containers for products like bleach, wipes, and agricultural chemicals. In addition, post-consumer resin can be increased due to the better property balance of the virgin resin. âUntil now, converters have often had to compromise to get the right ESCR performance of blow moulded HDPE bottles and containers,â said Dr James Stern, HDPE business development manager for North America & EMEAF at ExxonMobil. âBut, because there is no compromise in density or melt index, Paxon SP5504 enables converters to create cost-effective packaging solutions for household and industrial chemicals.â
