On a recent Saturday night, the Scottish Rite Consistory in Des Moines became an enchanted ballroom with a floor littered with white and gold flower petals and balloons — for students who received commemorative face masks reading "Lincoln Prom 2021."
Spread out over two floors to promote social distancing, the high school’s usual prom catering spread was replaced with pre-packaged bags of chips. A second ballroom was dedicated to dancing.
