angle." to a fox news alert. president biden is set to speak at 7:45 p.m. eastern on the supreme court's immunity ruling. we'll bring it to you when he comes out. but, first: another great day for trump and another bad day for the liberal media my top line legal thoughts are cray cray. >> look like wearing red jerseys or even maga hats basically the supreme court said in the past week no rules for the powerful, no rights for the powerless. >> imperial presidency now made concrete. >> it is about an imperial court imperial presidency. >> contrary to the ridiculous hyperbole from the left today. the high court's ruling isn't issue earning in the second come'6" caesar. what does the actual 6-3 opinion say? quote the nature of presidential power entitles a former president from absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his conclusive and preexclusive constitutional authorities. and that there is no immunity for unofficial acts. in other words, the president should be allowed to perform his constitutional duties as president without fear that unscrupulous prosecutors will craft crimes out of thin air to arrest their political opponent. which is exactly what we have seen the biden department of justice do to president trump. but, rather than cool, calm, reasoning from the left, after all this ruling benefits democratic presidents as much as it does trump, well, cue the panic. >> we are headed for a disaster in a way it's hard to think through. >> god only know what is damage could be done. it's a big step forward to having authoritarian president. >> it's five alarm fire. trump's supreme court has decreed him a king. i don't know if i have ever seen you this emotional. >> yeah. it is. it's so scary. >> jason: what new powers does the left thing the ruling gives the president? >> the president, like donald trump, can take a blatantly illegal act, slap the label, hey, this san official act. >> hurt a political opponent, according to this court, it doesn't matter. >> he could shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue in new york and get away with it. we hopefully will not see him test that theory. >> the president can task them to assassinate somebody? >> we don't know because this thing ping-pongs back and forth, -- i don't think. jason jason unfortunately this lunacy isn't just contained to the media. justice sotomayor's dissent claims that the president can order seal team 6 to assassinate a rival. organize a military coup. and take bribes with immunity. it's one thing for the media to engage in this brazen irresponsible fear-mongering, it's another when a sitting supreme court justice is undermining the court's ruling by claiming without a shred of evidence that this ruling would allow the president to commit such blatantly unconstitutional actions. as justin thomas explains, in this case, there has been much discussion about ensuring that a president is not above the law. but, as the court explains, the president's immunity from prosecution for his official acts is the law. exactly the law protects the president so that he can perform his official duties in office. and assassinating one's rivals clearly falls outside that official duty. and the ruling lays oought clear example in which the president has immunity. trump met with the acting attorney general and ore senior justice department and white house officials to discuss investigating purported election fraud. trump is absolutely immune from prosecution for alleging conduct involving his discussions with the justice department officials. this is common sense. but, we know why the left would rather cloud this case and the ora of authoritarianism rather than explain the actual details. there happens to be an election coming up and they need a boogie man. >> what does this mean? practically, i think it means if you are joe biden, if you are a democrat, who is running for the president, your path right now is clear. you have to run against the supreme court. you have to run against this decision. this is not america. if you want to make america great again, you got to return to the rule of law. >> jason: i always love it when they say they want to return to the rule of law. yeah, we gotcha. all right, joining us now is matt whitaker, former acting attorney general under president trump and chris landau, former law clerk for justices scalia and thomas. quite a resume, gentlemen. thanks so much, chris, i want to go to you, first. clarify what this law says because all this hyper vent a little from the left about what it would do and how dangerous donald trump would be under -- it's just -- i mean, it's absurd. >> yeah. you are absolutely right. may made the point earlier. the court held that the president has immunity for his official acts. okay. not for unofficial acts that are within the scope of authority. either under the constitution or under statutes. a lot of these hypotheticals that people are coming up with, shooting people on fifth a&e, ordering assassinations don't even arguably come within any of the president's authorities. but what is important is that the president have the ability to carry out his constitutionally appointed functions without fear of a lawsuit. which is what this case is about. >> jason: and msnbc guest says at the they are too hyperbolic to talk about assassinations for goodness sakes. watch this. >> strikes me as a little bit odd and, perhaps, hyperbolic that our, you know, successive president also become cold blood assassins and try to hide that conduct behind this case. i would tell everyone to take a breath. watch the hearing below and then reassess. >> jason: matt, what's your take on all of this? >> that's the last time he will be on msnbc. the real question here -- the real question here is that jack smith overreached. he engaged in the use of novel legal theories that have never been used before. you saw him loads earlier this week on the interference with official acts statute. and now you are seeing him being curtailed and his theory that no president has any immunity from any act whether official within its core functions or not, it is just not the way the law has been for 230 years of american history. so, you know, these folks that are just like losing their minds over sort of a very common sense approach to presidential immunity, i think, are -- would rather just win the 2024 election than somehow continue this great american constitutional republic for another 250 years or more. >> jason: cnn is saying that alvin bragg's case against president trump could also be in trouble. >> do not be at all surprised if we see in the next couple days a motion from donald trump's legal team to throw out the verdict in the new york state case because some of the evidence that was introduced in that case had to do with conversations donald trump had with his advisers, including hope hix while he was in office. >> chris, what's your take on all this? how many of these cases are going to be in deep trouble? >> you know, it's just -- again, i think people are exaggerating. i think people need to take a deep breath a and, again, this is about the constitution. we are going to be studying in this case in law schools. people are going to be analyzing this case in 100, 200 years. this is about the president, our constitutional separation of power. anybody who looks at this as just being about the trump case has no idea what they're talking about. i mean, the supreme court understands that it's making law for the ages and it doesn't matter. like, who is the president? i mean, this could protect joe biden's hide because he would be subject to prosecution for having failed to enforce the immigration laws if somebody was murdered, many people have been murdered by illegal aliens. they could say well, joe biden, you are criminally responsible for that bell well, guess what? that was his official act. i think that makes it very hard for him to be prosecuted. again, it protects the presidency. not president trump. >> jason: i think it was a very reasonable opinion and much needed. matt and chris, i got to keep moving. thank you so much for joining us tonight on "the ingraham angle." i could appreciate it. all right, the supreme court has taken a sledge hammer to the democrats wants main election strategy lawfare from the from january 6th ruling last week to the immunity warning. the democrats plan to throw their rival in jail rather than campaign on the serious issues. of the high court has taken the issue off the dableg tore democrats. if its ruling abortion pill and would restriction emergency abortions. joining us now is ned ryun fiewrnsd and ceo of merge american majority. president biden is set to come peek here in just over a half an hour. what do you think president biden is going to talk about because they are running out of things to run on. >> jason, your guess is as good as mine. who knows what will come the of biden's mouth based off thursday's debate. we have no idea if it will even make sense. but i think you are right. in some ways, rational people what is taking place with the scotus rulings should be devastating to democrats except democrats don't operated in reality. their talking points won't be in shambles because they are a series of intentional insane lies. they will continue to double down on them. i'm convinced that they know of no other way, neurotic left pedals nay know a and it dependent to their vase. they the keep power. i do think you are absolutely correct. jack smith, all of these things are starting to fall apart. they desperately wanted them to take place before november 5th because the very essence of them was political to take out the chief political opponent of joe biden. and it is collapsing. i think what it is also highlighting is it is one of the main re-election -- campaign election strategies for biden was the lawfare. and now they will have to try to run on issues and quiets frankly they don't have much to run on. >> jason: look, one of the most important rulings to many do out of the court i believe in this session was actually the ruling against chevron deference. that really does more to take a sledge hammer. >> yes. >> to the bureaucracy if people really understood what that is. ned, none other than aoc she is dom sphowt swinging quote the supreme court has within consumed by it's up to congress to defend our nation from this aauthor terrible tar cure. i attend articles of impeachment 'upon my huron does that concern you? and it's what we know to be the deep state. it's those are who are an unelected positions political figures, the military industrial complex. the national security state. their friends in the propaganda media. everyone who gets their power by knowing that they can control this figure head, which is why they are doing all they can to destroy trump. they know that he will expose them and dismantle their power. >> jason: yeah, that's exactly right. these puppet tears they don't want to be pushed off to the side. i mean, that is clear. you sigh a lot of the discussion on x out there, but i tell you a lot of it isn't about the incompetency, the ability to physically and mentally do the job. it's whether or not they can win an election. that's what they seem to be much more concerned about. now, president biden is going to come out and talk about this, as soon as he comes out. we will bring it to you live. but, what do you think the president is going to say about this latest supreme court ruling?
