relationship. >> i did not learn about that until much later in life, people seem to think if your descendent of a president as the family sat around and talked about the president all the time, we never talked about the president, like every other family we talked about if and mabel was getting married or whatever it was. i did not understand this until later in life. when you're a descendent of somebody like tr, some people want nothing to do with it and other people like me take it as a responsibility, it's part of my responsibility as a citizen. brian: they did have a great relationship and they got to know each other, they were to slavery and came out, he read it and he said i have to meet this guy and he had his wife read it, what was so special about booker t. washington how did he go from enslaved until nine, no shoes did not know how to read or write to one of the most impressive men in american history to make an impact on education, how did this happen? >> booker t. floor three times and dusted it for, that was his interest exam but that demonstrated his interest to hard work and pride in the work that he did, that's when he worked at the tuskegee institute in its creation in the development of the campus of other communities was understanding of educating the hand, the head and the heart to produce the pride and greatness. >> he impressed a lot of
