neil: the bombardment is on now that the truce is off a, and it doesn't look like another truce is coming anytime soon. israel just pulled its team of negotiators from qatar after criticizing what it called dead end talks. this as israeli war planes found over 50 targets in gaza. the united nations a says that israel is overdoing it. and now reports even the white house has had enough of it. we'll benjamin netanyahu's top adviser and reports his nation vows to hunt down hamas if leaders all over the world long after this war. all that and trouble in party paradise. not the republican party, we're talking the president's party. and for democrat dean phillips, that's the season is, it's too much the president's party. why he says he's being iced out in, of all places, the sunshine state. he'll explain because dean phillips is here, and "cavuto live" is now. ♪ ♪ neil: good morning, everybody. happy to have you this weekend. i'm neil cavuto. let's get right to it. we begin in southern israel where the fighting is resuming after the ceasefire is ending, and it's getting pretty ugly out there. greg palkot has the very latest. greg. >> reporter: hello, neil. yeah, day two of the resumed fighting between israel and hamas. we can confirm if firsthand that the fight is on. the gaza strip the just about a mile behind us, and all this day we have seen israel -- seen and heard israeli artillery pounding locations there as well as israeli navy ships off the a cost also pounding the hamas there. and we've been hearing ground combat. we've been hearing automatic rifle fire indicating that, in fact, the two sides could be clashing. it's a sign that the hundreds of israeli troops -- remember, they have been in there for several weeks. they have done some fighting, some pausing, and they're very much in the thick of it right now. israeli military also claiming to show what they found in one building there the underneath some u.n. relief boxes, piles of hamas rockets you've heard a lot of back is and forth about that that truce ending. the white house saying it's on hamas, but it's not that black and white. hey, lucas. >> reporter: hey, neil, that's right. for the first time since october 7th, it appears the white house and israeli government are not on the same page when it comes to this war. officials here at the white house say they don't want to see israeli forces carry out a similar bombing campaign in southern gaza like the way they did in the north. here's white house spokesman john dir by. >> we -- kirby. >> we do not support a move to the south unless or until they have adequately accounted for the protection of innocent human life, civilian life, in southern gaza. with the understanding that there's a whole heck of a lot more innocent civilians in southern gaza than there were a week or two ago. >> reporter: nowrgs israeli officials say they must go into southern gaza, neil, to hunt down and kill senior hamas leaders. earlier this week i went to the israeli embassy here in washington and received a briefing from a former israeli fighter pilot, now a spokesman for the idf. he claims, quote, hamas terror is moved together with the civilians to the south, so in order to reach both our goals to release the hostages and dismantle hamas, it's a necessity to act also in that area. now, yesterday on fox former british prime minister liz truss says right now the world needs stronger leadership from the west. >> why is it that hamas has been emboldened to commit these hour rib atrocities -- horrific atrocities in israel, essentially backed by iran? and i think the reason that we're in this position is the west has not been strong enough. and in particular, the u.s. leadership. >> reporter: now, recall his visit to israel last month, or president biden warned the israeli government not to be, quote, consumed by rage and said the united states made mistakes after the 9/11 attacks, and president biden says he opportunity want to see israel make the same. we'll play more of that sound in the next hour, neil. neil thank you, my friend. lucas tomlinson at the white house. now from israel, we have adviser to prime minister benjamin netanyahu. mark, it's good having you. i always feel bad under these circumstances, but i did want to pick your brain about this behind the scenes maybe tension between antony blinken, our secretary of state, and some of your leaders over the u.s. recommending go slow on this response in gaza. what can you tell us? >> well, let's be frank, i think israel and the united states see eye to eye on a host of important issues. once again, we both believe that hamas can no longer stay in power in the gaza a strip, that they have to be removed from their control; two, that the reason the humanitarian pause ended was because hamas didn't act according to its own commitments to release hostages; three, that there has to be created a new situation in the gaza strip; and, four, that in pursuing these goals we have to make a maximum effort to avoid seeing civilians caught up in the crossfire between the israeli defense forces and the hamas terrorists. and on all that we agree. neil: maybe so, and i'm maybe reading too much to what were talks of heated discussions and that some of your colleagues were getting annoyed that the administration was kind of lecturing you on this and that some of you felt the need to go your own way even if the united states is saying you're going too far. what happened there, and is there a sense that israel even if the united states were to say go slow or watch this response or push another truce, it would be the first time we've seen israel do something like that in to our long, multi-decade relationship. >> so i was in those meetings with the secretary of state, and i can tell you no one was lecturing anyone. we were sharing views on how we think the best way to proceed is. we can have, here and there we see things not identically. obviously, anything the united states says we take very, very seriously, and i think they take seriously whatever we say to them. but we will pursue this campaign against hamas. hamas will be destroyed. but in parallel now to the military operation, we will be working with the americans and others to take steps, first of all, to make sure that -- humanitarian aid comes in. that's part of our commit, part of our e ethos. that's who we are. we don't want to see unnecessary civilian hardship. and, of course, we will continue to differentiate. we're a democratic country, or we work according to the rules of war, we will continue to differentiate between civilians who are not the target of our operation and the brutal hamas terrorists who are our vicious enemy, and we will destroy them. neil: so when we got word this morning, mark, that israel pulled out of these talks to get another truce the possibly going in qatar, what happened? >> so the talks were at an impasse because hamas had not fulfilled its own commitments. there was an agreed list that hamas once again signed off on and suddenly they couldn't deliver or they wouldn't deliver. and and we don't want to just talk for the sake of talking. our goal was to get with our people out. the truth is that hamas continued to release hostages -- had they continued to release hostages, we would till be in a pause now. we've only returned to combat because hamas refused to follow through on a list that it itself had agreed to. so we're back in combat, and we actually think by beefing up the military pressure on hamas, by making them pay, by destroying their military machine, by eliminating their senior commanders, we're actually acting to facilitate the expeditious release of our hostages. because as a president biden himself said, hamas only understands pressure. and, believe me, they understand the military pressure that the israeli defense forces are applying at this moment. neil: you know, israel knows a thing or two about pressure as well. you're getting it from all other the world. a lot of people lecturing you on overdoing it in your response to the horrific october 7th attacks. you've accurately and correctly pointed out that the united states did and would do the same again in similar circumstances. 9/11 is a good example. but with you seem to be losing, and we mention this a lot, this pr war. hamas seems to have gotten the world behind the notion that we want to continue to see a truce and release hostages, and israel won't let us. how do you respond to that? >> well, you put your finger, neil, right on the problem, because hamas says we want a truce. we want to stop the fighting. and to a lot of people around the world, including in the united states, oh, that sounds logical. of course, let's end the bloodshed. what's the problem, neil? if hamas remains in power, you'll have me interviewed here on your program in six months or a year, and we'll have another gaza a war with. why? because hamas has openly, given the opportunity, they would commit another october 7th massacre. they say they would do it again and again and again. hamas is not a normal player. they're like al-qaeda. they're like isis. they are committed to their violent terrorism, their extremism, their jihad. for them, there is no israel. it should be destroyed. for them there are no israelis, they should all be killed, they should the all be murdered. that's part of their charter. and so i think it's people need to understand this ceasefire that people are calling for might have good intentions, but it's misguided because it's actually a band-aid solution. it just gives you a temporary, you know, timeout for hamas to regroup and rearm, and then they will attack us again, and we'll be back to square one. we don't agree to that and we shouldn't e agree to that. and the israeli people, especially those citizens who live in the south of israel who have seen hamas cross the border and butcher their communities, we not stand for that any longer. and we refuse to live next to this terror enclave on our southern border. and i think anyone in our situation would understand that there is -- no one should have to see it, to live in such a situation where with to or -- terrorists just across the frontier threatening to cross the border and kill them. no one should stand for that, and we won't stand for that. neil: so when there are separately reports you won't stand for it even after the war and that israel will be targeting hamas leaders all over the world, well, a good many of those leaders are in qatar, supposedly negotiating for and working on behalf of both sides to hammer out yet another truce. so would those attacks to target hamas leaders include qatar? >> you know, the united states spent a lot of time and earth to take out -- effort to take out osama bin laden, and you got him in the end. and it's good that you got him. we look at the same way the hamas if senior leadership, both the leadership in twaz is and -- gaza and a abroad. anyone who is responsible for the butch or or of our people -- butcher of our people and remember that terrible day in october when they murdered over 1,2000 israelis, in proportionate terms, it was, like, 20 innocence, yes? -- 9/11s, yes? if you look at at the percentage of our population that was murdered. they took 240 of our citizens and others hostage and took them to gaza after ab a ducting them -- abducting them. we don't have to stand for this. and we will, anyone involved in commanding that operation will pay a price. and we will reach them. it doesn't matter where they are, we will reach them. neil: okay. that's what -- i rudely interrupted. you it should it. no matter where they are, right? >> we will reach them, and justice will be, justice will be done. neil: all right. mark, thank you very much. sorry for that interruption, mark regev, senior adviser to benjamin netanyahu. again, it is waiting for the return of hostages right now. supposedly 130 or so who are still alive. a family that waits for one more of a family where five were taken hostage, four were in qatar to negotiate another truce right now. and that is probably a big concern to my next guest. he has four family members who were kidnapped by hamas and they were released, but he's waiting for another uncle -- she is waiting for another uncle right now who is still being held, presumably, by hamas. i hope i'm pronouncing your name correctly. very good to have you. what have you heard about your uncle? anything? >> well, first, thank you very much for keeping this story up in your news because it's extremely important that we do. so we will do anything we can to bring them back. we have not heard anything about my uncle for two months now. we don't know. we know he, he was with family in the house, and when he heard the terrorists come in, he decided to go and talk to them and tried to see what they want. i guess my lovely uncle who is really a person of people thought that he could talk and he could negotiate and give them whatever they wanted, but he did not realize what they wanted was his life. and then he he got taken, and then we got a message. we knew that he was taken by hamas. we know nothing, nothing at all. we just know that he's almost 80, and he is create -- critically ill, and he probably has no medication. and so about 13 other elderlies, we're very, very worried, and we want him back with. it's time for him the to come back and so for the other elderlies and all the 130 still being held. they deserve to come home. neil: so when you hear word that negotiations for another ceasefire extension, a pause in activity, those talks israel left just an hour or two ago, what was your reaction? >> it's really hard to say, so i can only speak for myself and my heart. and i would say ceasefire. we are people that cherish life. we need to make sure that everybody is coming home alive, not dead. alive. and, yes, they are dying and their lives are fading away day by day by day especially for those wounded or sick. we need to do everything we can, everything we can, be most creative as we can in order to get a deal that will bring them back home. and to me, if it means to cease fire, it will -- shall be to cease fire. life cannot be renewed. i mean, once we lose them the, they're dead. they won't be back. and we are losing time. so i would expect the government, the israeli government and all the governments around the world to work hard minute to minute to minute to tomorrow -- so tomorrow everybody will be back home. whatever it takes. neil: so when your uncle was taken hostage along with these four other family members, they were returned, did anyone ever explain to you why your uncle was not in -- was not? >> we have no idea. we absolutely have no proof of life. we have no idea. we have no idea where he is. think about it. my uncle is almost 80. what would any of us or the viewers feel if his uncle or grandfather or neighbor was taken, abducted from husband house in his pajamas -- from his house in his pajamas early saturday morning and suddenly is gone? and not only gone, we know he was brutally taken. we've seen the picture released by the hamas terrorists. we heard terrible stories, terrible, horrifying, scary stories from the moment of the attack through captivity and until people came back. and i just can't imagine how is he doing? does he get enough water? what about his medication? can his body still hold? it's really, really very worrying, and it's not only him. my very, very dear uncle -- neil: hang in in, efrat. i'm sorry under these circumstances we have to go through all of that and you have to relive that. wish you the best on this. we'll see what happens in the days and weeks ahead. following these developments. four family members that did return, one she's still waiting for. stay with us. ♪ neil: you know, sometimes the i cling to the markets with the hope they see something promising on the horizon even with a war going on that maybe the rest of us do not. i cling to that, because the markets continued to surge this week as they have really throughout this war that started october 7th in israel. and it's a trend that remains a friend to those thinking that cooler, calmer heads prevail. selfishly, of course, the markets are buoyed by interest rates staying down and maybe going down some more, some comments out of the federal reserve chairman that there's nothing on the horizon that would get him to raise rates, some of them clinging to the notion that they'll start cutting soon. but again, this is very opposite what happened after the last big war in the middle east 50 years ago, the yom kippur war, and that led to, obviously, an oil embargo and gas lines. you name it. that was then, i cling to that not to be nerdy about it, but to say, maybe, maybe that there is light at the end of this dark, depressing tunnel. that's one way to look at it, and here's this: >> we have increased our contributions to over 9.5 billion which puts us on track to reach president biden's ambitious $11 billion goal by 2024. today i am also proud to announce a new $3 billion pledge to the green climate fund. neil: all right. it's where she was saying that that's gotten a lot of people's attention. this is a climate change sort of global powwow going on in dubai right now. last time i checked, very big in oil there. that would be like me showing up at a weight watchers convention. but it is odd because there is this move afoot with the part of some nations, opec if nations, so-called plus nations like russia and others that are caughting back on -- cutting babb on supply in the hope they can push those prices up. so the whole thing kind of confuses me, or but whenever i'm confusedded about things, i talk to phil flynn, a superstar over at a fox business, and what he makes of this. i don't understand it. first of all, this was going on in dubai which, i guess, is great cover -- [laughter] laugh if you want to talk about clean energy and the rest. what's going on here? >> you know, i think right now what we're seeing, they call it the cop28 because it's been 28 years of this group has been meeting from the u.n., and it's been 28 years of failure, neil. you know? their goal, of course, was to reduce green host gas emissions and put -- greenhouse gas emissions and put fossil fuels out of business, and the exact opposite is happening. even though the rich countries, neil, have spent billions and billions of dollars and reduced their greenhouse gas emissions, places in asia are actually increasing it. they're burning more and more coal. so we've spent a lot of money, we've gotten no closer to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and they're coming up with a lot of unrealistic ideas that you can't do if you're not going to take away, you know, the prospects of your prosperity in the future because they're trying to take that away and controller every part of your life -- control every part of your life. neil: if you step way back from what's going on at this meeting to the oddity of what happened after the last big middle east war 50 years ago, that led, of course, to, you know, oil embargoes and the rest. the whole arab world was united in condemning israel and condemning us for helping israel. those embargoes led to long gas lines. i remember because i was responsible for switching the cars back and forth on odd/even days to fill them up. but having said that, what do you make of the way global energy markets, i believe we're lower in oil prices now versus last go around. >> i think the difference is that 50 # years ago when we had the oil embargo, we were shocked. we were not energy efficient. we weren't producing enough energy in this country. and that shocked us into becoming more efficient. this time because the u.s. is a major producer, we're producing a record amount of oil, in fact, we just hit a new record in this country, it's created a buffer. and it's also sent a message to the bad guys that if we're producing a lot of oil, you better not cut off supply because we're going if to take away your market share. so it's a different world, neil, than it was 50 years ago. but in some ways, it's the same because if you look at what's happening at the cop28 conference, they're trying to get rid of fossil fuels. they're going to put us back into that situation where we were 50 years ago where it was a big threat to the economy and to people's lives. neil: yeah. and i wonder if dubai really wants to get rid of fossil fuels. it's cover though, it is cover. phil, great having you on, my friend. i appreciate it. phil flynn. >> thank you, neil. neil: you know, iran, of course, there have been almost 80 attacks on u.s. soldiers, very few attacks back, that is a very big subject going on at the neil: look forward to that. jennifer griffin, hardest working person in the business on all of that. [laughter] in the meantime, i did have a chance to catch up with the pentagon spokesman, general pat ryder, on exactly how we respond to these nonstop iranian attacks on our forces. take a look. >> when it comes to these iranian proxies and it comes to these attacks in places like iraq and syria, i don't want to minimize the danger that those present. but most of those attacks have been largely unsuccessful whereas our strikes are always on target, and they're always going to hit the intended target, and if it's going to diminish irgc and iranian proxy capability in the region. so -- neil: but it doesn't, right? i mean no disrespect, sir, but if it did, then iran would stop this, and these iranian proxies actually would cycle back, but they're not. >> yeah. well, look, again, this is not the first time these groups have conducted these kinds of attacks. clearly, it's an effort to try to exploit the situation. neil: all right. general ryder on that over at the pentagon. so what to do about these attacks. he says ours are targeted and specific, but are they too few? let's get into that with the former secretary of the navy, former u.s. ambassador to norway. ambassador, great of to have you. what do you make of what the general was saying, sir? this idea that it isn't about the number per attack, it's about the precision of those attacks. isn't that also part of the problem, there are just too few to respond? >> neil, it's great to be with you and appreciate the opportunity to engage with the audience here this morning. you know, this is a very multidimensional, complex issue, as you know. the short answer is we're not doing enough. although we've moved two carrier strike groups into the region, we haven't had a carrier strike group in the eastern medicines 20321. 2021. and if there's anything that the iranians respect, they respect military strength. they'll continue through their proxies, you know, to up this game and to create the instability in the region that we've seen because it's to their advantage to do this. i mean, we all know on the eve of the october. th -- 7th attack that saudi arabia and israel were in negotiations, in a process of coming to an understanding for the first in the history of their relationship. so we need to understand the greater dynamic here. and really one of the aspects of this is although we're able to respond now, we're not being proactive enough. and there are a lot of implications to that. especially when it comes to the forces sable. there's a lot of -- available. there's a lot of discussion today that we really don't have the naval presence to be the able to cover down on all of these potential challenges. jennifer just mentioned my classmate who will be on the panel with her today. you know, he has to deal with this on a daily basis. this is only going to get worse as we continue not to invest in our military to the degree that we really need to, neil. neil: you know, general, it might be just coincidence, but it's darn weird coincidence that there were no such attacks on american forces throughout the week we had this ceasefire, whatever you want to call, a pause in activity in effect. and as soon as that pause ended, you know, attacks and activity was being sighted again. there's no doubt in the eyes of many of your present and former colleagues that iran is busy and iran is calling the shots quite literally. but if there is -- >> absolutely. neil: -- no hope of a pause being resumed again and israel, as you know, walked out of the talks in qatar because the talks were going nowhere for one, then i guess we can anticipate more attacks on u.s. soldiers. >> absolutely. those are attack of opportunity, right? you know, the bigger issue here is, you know, understanding that the forces at play are going to continue to seek these opportunities to create the instability in the region. and, again, there are a few things that the iranians respect. they do respect military strength. and, you know, it's funny, neil, because you called me general -- actually, it's admiral, but that's okay, i won't take that the wrong way. anyway, armies win wars. but navies prevent wars. and we have not invested in our navy to the degree that we need to. even now with the increase in the president's budget, it's not keeping up with inflation. and instead of building more ships, we're actually removing more from the fleet. this year we'll cut almost a dozen ships out of our naval forces. and just two days ago i was talking to one of my former commanders who would have been responsible a couple years ago for the current challenges that we see in the eastern med. and as such, you know, jamie has indicated the bigger underlying thing here is, you know, we're not able to provide the forces in a manner that's consistent with the availability because then you've got all of the challenges that come with rushing to meet the challenge and then having to bring the ships back and, you know, providing opportunities to repair them. neil: admiral, thank you. i believe i was referring to general patrick ryder -- >> oh, that's okay. [laughter] no worries. neil: you've got that, the ambassador thing going on -- >> please, ken. neil: oh, no, i'm never going to do that. >> yes, please do. neil thank you, admiral. >> thank you, neil. neil we have a lot more coming up, including george santos who is leaving the united states congress, theth congressman to be kicked out of that august body, and even some republicans not too keen on why and how that happened, after this. with uncontrollable movements called td, tardive dyskinesia. td can be caused by some mental health meds. and it's unlikely to improve without treatment. i felt like my movements were in the spotlight. #1-prescribed ingrezza is the only td treatment for adults that's always one pill, once daily. ingrezza 80 mg is proven to reduce td movements in 7 out of 10 people. people taking ingrezza can stay on most mental health meds. ingrezza can cause depression, suicidal thoughts, or actions in patients with huntington's disease. pay close attention to and call your doctor if you become depressed, have sudden changes in mood, behaviors, feelings, or have thoughts of suicide. don't take ingrezza if you're allergic to its ingredients. ingrezza may cause serious side effects, including angioedema, potential heart rhythm problems, and abnormal movements. report fevers, stiff muscles, or problems thinking as these may be life threatening. sleepiness is the most common side effect. it's nice. people focus more on me. ask your doctor about #1 prescribed, once-daily ingrezza. ♪ ingrezza ♪ what does searching for a medicare plan feel like?
