>> kevin: new hour of fox news live on the ground in new york city, palestinian protestors are rallying against the "genocide in gaza." and welcome in, everybody. i'm kevin corke. happy thanksgiving to you and yours, and especially to you, molly line. >> molly: thank you, kevin, i'm molly line. great to be with you. a handsful of protestors disrupted today's thanksgiving parade. you can see them attempting to block the route in the big apple. fear not, bluey, sponge bob, they made it through. alexis mcadams is new york city, she got to watch the big parade. alexis, to you. >> we saw big crowds out here trying to catch a glimpse of that beautiful parade, all of those beautiful floats and creativity going by along with the marching bands as everybody was waiting to experience the macy's thanksgiving day parade, but that was not all that came with the parade. lots of protestors behind me, lining the route and now they have continued throughout the day. hundreds of people showing support for the palestinian people, demanding the united states stop supporting what they believe is a genocide, protestors poured red paint on the ground and tried to block off the parade route. police stepped in to clear it. watch this. those marches come as the nypd remains on high alert, they moving along, so many get things preparations to go on the parade, they could not let the people block the intersection. no specific threats to the macy's thanksgiving parade, but the israel-hamas war created what the federal government is calling a heightened threat environment, beefing up patrols to keep everybody safe. >> counter terrorism officers have been preparing for this event all year-long. working closely with our federal, state and local partners. >> and it's not just the nypd as the commissioner mentions, it's federal, state and local partners, the governor adding increased surveillance and extra police to make sure everything is under control. you can still see it there on the screen, the pro palestinian protestors are still marching through the streets and as mentioned before, and molly you have seen it happen on the college campuses, it grows quickly. so from the dozens to the hundreds and it's gathering as we have had good weather. see what path they take next. >> molly: a lot of people in the city, that is for sure and the new york city police doing an amazing job. alexis, thank you for bringing this. a look at the wild streets. >> kevin: dan hoffman, a long time, good to have you with us on this thanksgiving day. i just want to sort of touch base on what we just saw there in new york city, obviously alexis is out there, she's remarking, commenting, rather, on what she has seen throughout the day, that is building protests and for the most part they have been relatively peaceful and i say that through this lens. no one appears to have been hurt, at least thus far. that is a credit, i think, to the nypd. what say you? >> yeah, happy thanksgiving, kevin, to you and all the viewers and molly. look, that's freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. and the people out there taken to the streets are protesting u.s. government policy and that's ok in america because we enjoy liberty and freedom and democracy, and those protestors might just take a pause at some point and think about whether they could do that in gaza under hamas rule. which they couldn't. they could do it in israel, though, and might be something to take a moment and think about. >> kevin: that's a very strong point. let me ask you about what we saw yesterday, it turned out at least that this was sort of an incident that happened along the northern border between the u.s. and canada, but i'm curious to get your perspective on the possibility of terrorism. we talk a lot, an awful lot, dan, about the u.s. southern border and the potential risk that could be happening there. we fairly give i think scant attention to the north and yet i think we certainly should. is that your perspective? >> yeah, we absolutely should. the millennium attack thwarted in 1999-2000, but very alert u.s. border patrol so we have to be on alert, but especially in these times, you have hamas terrorists taking the fight to israel and killing innocent civilians and putting it on social media because they hope to incite their enemies, israel, to launch the attack on gaza that's going to turn the gaza strip into an moonscape, according to what some have seen it, that's what hamas wants, death and destruction for their own people to serve their twisted narrative and also want to attract followers, they do it on the internet and in cyberspace, and concerned about those in the united states who may be here illegally or living here who represent a threat to conduct those sorts of attacks. that's why state, local law enforcement, fbi, cia overseas have to be working to detect the threats way out left of boom before they cause harm and preempt them. >> kevin: i want to get your perspective on what cia and other agencies can do. cia is outward facing. bureau is inward facing and imagining some collaboration and coordination, especially as it relates to the growing terror threat in this country. >> yeah, it's -- there's no higher priority. we talk about the importance of intelligence work on china, iran, russia, it's a priority for decades and the intelligence community, cia, nsa, fbi, all working together with state and local law enforcement, we have quite a seamless bit of collaboration together to keep our citizens safe and i think on a day like this, when my family, we are giving thanks for our blessings, we also remember those in the military in our military intelligence community and others serving overseas in harm's way to protect us here at home, and we owe them our greatest thanks, appreciation. >> kevin: operatives and assets working all over the global working very difficult jobs for this country to make it positive to have a safe thanksgiving. dan, great to talk to you once again, my friends, appreciate your time on this thanksgiving and happy thanksgiving to you and yours. >> molly: a ceasefire is set between israel and hamas as some family members await the word on release of their loved ones. a spokesman from the qatari government exchange what we could see several hours from now. >> 13 in number all women and children and those hostages from the same families put together in the same patch. every day will include a number of civilians as agreed to total 50 in the four days. >> molly: a lot of families with hope in their hearts. jeff paul is live in southern israel. really on the cusp of history right now. jeff, to you. >> molly, and with the first release pushed back until at least tomorrow, it's a very anxious time here on the ground in israel. but we are learning the israeli government is in the process of calling all the families of the hostages to let them know who is on the list to be the first released and who is not. under the deal between israel and hamas, israel will get back 50 of the hostages initially. we are also learning at first there is going to be a ceasefire planned for around 7:00 a.m.. then after that, hamas is supposed to release the first 13 hostages starting at 4:00 p.m. local time. in total, 50 women and children will be released over a period of 4 to 5 days. in exchange, israel will release 150 palestinian prisoners. during each of those days that hostages are released, there will be pauses in the fighting. breaks in combat are coming at a critical time, especially for civilians in gaza running low on supplies to stay alive. and food, clean water and medical supplies are at lows. but regardless, the idf says the mission in gaza to root out hamas is not over. >> we are trying to connect the goals of the war so that the pressure from the ground operation brings about the ability to also achieve the goal of this war, to create the conditions for the release of the abducted hostages. >> now when the israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu spoke a little bit earlier today, he seemed to have a positive tone saying he's hopeful that the hostages, at least the first batch of 13, will come out tomorrow and back to israel where they belong, and he's hoping that will be the first of many more releases to bring all the hostages home. molly. >> molly: absolutely, including this little american girl hopefully will be released tomorrow. appreciate you being on the ground there during this time. >> kevin: retaliatory airstrikes as u.s. forces come under attack once again in the middle east. david sears is next, former seal team troop commander. hed by a baby grand piano. you're replacing me? middle east, you mentioned the president and first lady called members of our military thanking them for their service this morning, vice president kamala harris is set to do the same in about a half i'll never stop trying. u.s. conducted two retaliatory airstrikes in aircraft after being attacked at least 66 times just since october 17th. strikes hit control facilities, iranian backed militia based in iraq, they inspired the 2019 storming of the u.s. embassy in baghdad when protestors shouted death to america, and they sanctioned six people in the group, and this week, they fired two short range missiles at u.s. forces at al-asad air base thu they tracked them down and fired on them. >> immediately following the attack, ac130 aircraft in the area conducted a self-defense strike against an iranian backed vehicle and personnel involved in the attack. it resulted in some hostile fatalities. >> some claim the u.s. overstepped saying airstrikes are against the mandate to fight isis in service and dave sears, a former navy seal team 6 commander, thank you for your service and time on this thanksgiving day, appreciate that as well. appreciate your insights. these latest strike backs done by america, they were swift, and they were right to the point. your thought on how swiftly america responded, given the fact quite a few attacks, but this response was a fast one. >> right, this response is probably done at the commander level on the ground, and like they said, a self-defense strike, so happened to have the assets in place and were able to do it. so when this instance, yes, it was a strike back on the immediate group that carried it out. i think our response to the other 60 plus strikes on u.s. forces in iraq and syria has been completely underwhelming to the world at large, see what we are doing as weak and i think the region sees it as weak and enemies see it as weak. we need to respond in some way that's very visible and carries a big message. >> molly: many of these groups, including the hezbollah group in iraq, a difficult position there, such an escalation was viewed because the strike happened in iraq and that was a concern, and a broad concern about this expanding in the region. but talking about being able to respond and respond swiftly, one of the things the u.s. has been very concerned about is a direct strike on iran, and here is how the deputy pentagon press secretary explained it. >> we are extremely mindful of this conflict broadening out into a regional conflict. that's what we do not want to see. we do not want to be pulled into a regional conflict, both from attacks on our troops and also from what is happening in israel. >> molly: your thoughts on the effort the u.s. seems to be making to not expand things and yet still respond in some capacity? >> we are playing on our back foot the entire time. i get that there is some strategic value in not hitting iran internal to its sovereign borders, right. you don't want to mobilize the populus of iran against the united states, they are already against the iranian regime, leave them that way. outside of iran, we can hit all their proxies, hit iranian things, they know the u.s. will not do consequences, the attacks will continue until they suffer consequences from them. >> molly: another top story we are following is the potential hostage release, exchange with hamas and israel, possibly as early as tomorrow, some of the women and children released. you have this dramatic amount of experience, successful rescues of colombian personnel, years in captivity, working in colombia. your thoughts on this exchange as we head into tomorrow? >> these exchanges have always been very one-sided. obviously israel is dealing with not just a military strategic piece but political as well. the people want their family and friends back as hostages, but what we have to give to do that will continue the hostage taking, so israel needs to -- they are doing it from a strategic standpoint, so they know the tactical situation on the ground and how much of a pause they can take and allow to happen, but it's a shame the world is not condemning this hostage taking by hamas, by terrorist groups, by hezbollah, supported by iran, the constantly goes on. there should be an outcry against that, it's shameful. >> molly: absolutely. dave sears, thank you. i hope you have >> well, because the cartels have never been as powerful as they are now, both operationally and financially because of the policies of the biden administration. so now the cartels have the capability to expand their trafficking operations. so if we look at this from solely a profit standpoint from the cartels, why not multiply by two and expands and increase operations, trafficking, who knows, into the country through our northern border. also at the same time, staff from cbp is pulled off the northern border to go down to the southwest border, not to help with enforcement but help with the processing of illegals. >> that's a great point. so, let's dig in a bit in the most recent story. the romanian family members all together, two of them tied to organized crime. you are an expert in some of the terrorists apprehended and governor sununu, the governor of new hampshire, has said people have been captured and found on the terror watch list. the type of the individuals trying to get in across the northern border. >> the governor was absolutely correct, the watch list numbers encountered on the northern border are higher than those on the southwest border. what i can tell you, while the numbers right now at the northern border of migrants coming in are not near the numbers of the southwest border, we see the same type of diversity, from countries that are special interest, those on the watch list. so, the concerns are reflected almost in the same way as they are at the southwest border. so, that's a shared concern with what's going on up there. but what i can tell you is we also see diversity of the threats. we know that there are terrorism threats and also trans national criminal organization threats. >> molly: absolutely. the numbers have ticked up on the northern border as in the southern border. in fiscal year 2024, up to 15,000, and apprehensions the border patrol are making also major up ticks, the swanton sectors, border patrol agents saying they have seen 550% increase compared to last year. so, a lot of work being done. i've been out with the border patrol agents on the northern border and this time of year it's also very, very cold. the group of romanians, they tried to drive across, but it's dangerous to walk across some 5,000 plus miles at this time of year, right? >> it is. same challenges that we see at the southwest border, different weather conditions, of course. but what i can tell you here is that we are starting to see this increase in numbers and the policies are still the same, molly. that's the problem. that's the achilles heel in all of this, is we have abandoned enforcement of our border security laws and abandoned enforcing our immigration laws, so that message is out globally so seeing surges from all the other countries, over 150 now, and they are really just flocking to come in because they know they are going to be let in, processed in, they won't have any hearings for many years to come before their immigration cases can be adjudicated. >> molly: great point, governor sununu calling canada seen as a safe haven. so the geopolitical issues are all part of this. thank you, charles marino, thank you for giving your time on this thanksgiving day. >> you are welcome. happy thanksgiving. >> kevin: california congressman darrell issa, we have all the stars out today. he's going to join us on fox news live on this thanksgiving day, that's coming right up. the serrano name has always been something we're proud of. it's why we show it off on our low riders. and why we wear our name on our chains. >> well, what's behind it is a reality, crime is up, petty crime is up, punishment is down, a recognition that people who repeat offend will be on the street. you know, under governor pete wilson, they passed three strikes and although it's been eliminated in california, the principle was simple. if you are constantly repeating crimes you get put away for a long time. that no longer happens in california. as a matter of fact, for most of these crimes, if you don't fire a gun you are going to be back out on the streets before the police get done filling out the paperwork. >> that's the problem. i think people feel like even when people are arrested, they more or less walk, and i'm going to share something else, too. a general sense among many voters the gop is better at handling things like rising crime. let me just share some of the things people talk about obviously when compared to democrats. how is the gop handling border security? plus 24 in our latest fox news survey, national security, plus 20, foreign policy, plus 12, and crime plus 12. why? >> it's very simple. we actually do believe that criminals need to be punished, not forever, you know, most criminals learn their lesson. but if they don't learn their lesson and they repeat, we believe in the principles of three strikes. we believe sentences should be longer for repeat offenders, that there should be less opportunity for these releases that ultimately allow many of the people you have just shown to repeat their offenses while they are out on these so-called supervised release. supervised release is not a reality, it's unsupervised release and that's why you see crimes often more serious crimes committed by people who have already been recognized for committing a crime. and let's remember, most people don't get caught the first time. by the time you catch somebody, you are talking about somebody who is probably a serial criminal. >> and that's frustrating, i got carjacked in march and i still feel like a lot of these kids, they wave a gun in the face, take the car and take off and then generally speaking, not much seems to be happening here in the nation's capital, not the only place experiencing the problems. congressman issa, happy thanksgiving to you. be safe out there. >> blessed thank you to you and your family. >> molly: a travel expert who has visited every country in the world with tips before you book the next get-away. coming up.
