momentous wednesday night from nashville. this is a live look where soon president biden will try to convince the american people that his meeting today with communist dictator xi jinping is the beginning of something really beautiful. now think about it. president xi rules over what, 1.3 billion chinese through a relentless campaign of fear and oppr oppression. but we're supposed to believe he is someone we can trust as america gradually gives up their leverage. he is someone we can do business with. now after spending glorious moments with joe biden, hes that he's going to pull all that back. what a guy. well, we know big business is going to go for all this nonsense, but will america? joining me is trace gallagher, host of "fox news at night," what are we learning tonight? >> we'll get to those items in a minute. the meeting lasted four hours between president biden and president xi. we know the four-hour point, they took a walk in the garden outside of the venue in woodside, california. we are in california, that they cleaned up amazingly, this is woodside, down in the peninsula, close to stanford university. president biden was asked how it was going and he said well. there were a couple firm agreements. the fentanyl, the chemical china has been sending to mexico and they then ship to the united states. china said they will stop sending the chemicals, does it stop the problem? probably not. the border is wide open, they will buy from somewhere else and ship fentanyl over open border and kill tens of thousands of americans. the other deal we expect to be made on this, open military lines of communication, military ties here. those lines of communication were taken down a couple years ago after nancy pelosi visited taiwan. the deal here is that it is a hot line, they can communicate with each other directly in case there is friction in the taiwan straight or south china sea, they can get in touch with each other directly and they can try and work this out. the problem with that is there is no agreement we've heard of that the chinese military is going to stop taunting the u.s. military over the past several months we know that chinese planes have come close in the taiwan strait to american fighter planes and ships close to other chinese ships. will that end? that is something we don't know at this point. the big point of contention for president xi, heun was assurances from president biden to make sure he does not support taiwan independence. president biden has said a number of time that independence is up to taiwan and united states would send military troops to taiwan to protect them. the white house walked that back on every occasion and the question is, did he get that assurance from xi jinping? and the president would like president xi jinping to talk to iran about this war in israel, try to tell him if he can use influence to get the iranian proxies, hamas, and others pulled back and stop going after american troops. we will find out who came out on top in the next couple weeks or months. do they have more rogue baknow loos? do they taunt military troops in the taiwan straits and does iran back off in this war in the middle east. a lot of questions and we expect some answers when the president takes to the podium a few minutes from now. >> laura: any conversation that you know about or reported yet about ukraine? of course we know that xi is supporting putin and we're fighting and proxy fighting in the war in ukraine and hundreds of billions will go there from the united states, so what about that? >> trace: we know it came up whchl it comes to ukraine, president biden's wish there could be consensus there. the united states is sending billions, more than 100 billion in weapons to ukraine and of course you have china supporting russia and that is a big point of contention in all of this. the question is, is there any kind of momentum on that? any kind of agreement? we've heard of none so far, whether they went and delved deep into that, we are unclear. we know it came up. they did spend most of their time talking about the war in israel versus the war in ukraine. laura. >> laura: great to see you. all right. hammers and sickos, that's the focus of tonight's "the angle." it was all hammer and sickos in san francisco since arrival of china dictator xi jinping. americans desperate to honor and impress him decided to make him feel at home. now that is a flag that representses subjugation and persecution, not just to the chinese who fled, but for those who have no way out of china. for a second? >> yes, everyone uses different methods. >> for years, stories of arbitrary arrest, unspeakable cruelty and mass internment camps have been trickling out. >> if you want people to confess, you use the electric baton. a person is tied up. the result is better. >> laura: apparently joe biden, the press and the ceos have paid up to $40,000 to be at a banquet for the dictator and they are not phased by any of this or what has been done to the christians innin choo, whose churches have been bulldozed on xi jinping's order. is the google ceo not concerned about what happened to hong kong ceos who disappeared by china or those in solitary confinement for years, like jimmy li. they have amnesia, they are desperate to work on the relationship with china. business execs want to export jobs overseas and sell more stuff there and the biden ventriloquists want a beautiful green environment with china. this includes improving the china relationship. biden is already compromised given how much money his son hunter made there, for no talent other than being the vice president's son. during the election, president biden denied all money made. >> president biden: nothing was unethical, my son has not made money in terms of this thing about china. >> laura: it took the press years to finally admit that joe was not telling the truth about that and why? because hunter testified he had made a substantial sum of money from chinese interest. plus this had been confirmed by hunter's laptop, which the press claimed was russian disinformation during the campaign. so when someone repeatedly reveals themselves through bad actions, don't make excuses for him, believe what he does, do not believe what he says. despite all we know about what china has done in supporting russia, i was talking about or stealing intellectual property, dumping cheap product here, committing genocide, biden thinks xi is a straight arrow. >> president biden: a pleasure, there is no substitute to face-to-face discussions. i've always found our discussions to be forward and frank and i have always appreciated them. >> laura: i think he meant to say the business they sent his son was always appreciated. let's be candid, this is a sad day for those in america who remember when america stood for freedom and american leaders did not grovel before dictators, when the world saw america was rising. not one country that was stumbling toward a future with the dictator like xi, someone becoming almost xi's puppet. this is what our leaders want and unless we get new leaders in 2024, there is no reason tonight to believe things are not going to get even worse. that's "the angle." joining me now is congressman mike gallagher chairman of the house china select committee. i want to talk about the ceos in moment, but first your reaction to hearing what is coming out of this meeting. is xi jinping a man we can do business with and trust? >> mike: no, absolutely not and regardless what comes out of this meeting, think of the price we have already paid just so biden could sit down with xi for this photo op. for two years, the administration has taken it's foot off the gas, have not sanctioned chinese officials, attempted to downplay or cover up the spy balloon incidents, no investigation into the origin of covid and also we could send cabinet secretaries to china to beg the ccp to have this meeting, that is the price we already paid and the win xi jinping pocketed and now i worry coming out of this meeting, there will be a commitment to working together on fentanyl, like every other commitment that the ccp has made in modern history, the chinese communist party will violate that commitment. and the ccp' s check is always in the mail and that is the risk right now. >> laura: congressman, do you agree with what the former trade rep bob lighthouzer, he said on "the angle" the other night what they are playing for is not about fentanyl, what xi wants is trump's tariffs lifted in a second biden term. what would you wager on the proposition that was discussed and whether a wink and nod they understand tariffs are coming off if biden wins? >> mike: it is essential that we don't get rid of those for some promise of cooperation in the future and more to the point what the biden administration wants over the next year, nothing could imperil their effort to get re-elected and they put focus on turning the temperature down in the relationship. but because they misunderstand the nature of this regime, this marxist lennonist regime. the more aggressive xi jinping becomes, whether the pressure they are placing on taiwan or economic coercion they are embarking upon globally, whether it is hacking of cabinet official e-mails at the same moment the cabinet officials are going to cheen. how much more evidence do we need to suggest that getting into this endless negotiation trap is not good for the united states? >> laura: i said this on "the angle," but they lied about this virus. they are still lying. mill kions of people died. they are probably working on other vaccines at their bio-weapons labs. just for that alone, forget the human rights abuses and trade abuses, but the covid issue? >> well, it's a warning to the hawks inside the biden administration not to go too far. it looks like both sides of cooperating, chinese team and biden team to work on reelection of joe biden. they are framing this whole thing as biden's move toward peace and dampening down tension. it is a gamble, but perhaps the chinese are watching the polls and see there is a good chance of mr. trump returning and they don't want that. the only other option is endorse biden, that is what we've been seeing the last few hours. >> laura: the romantic walk in the garden we're looking at now reminds me of love connection. you ask, how did your date end? apparently quite well for them. i want to play a moment from xi today, watch. >> know plaet earth is big enough for the two countries to succeed and one country success is an opportunity for the other. i firmly believe in the promising future of the bilateral relationship. >> laura: what blather. planet earth is big enough for the both of us? sounds like a power-sharing agreement, because we know china shares well with other countries, correct? >> yeah. we get easter island and samoa and they get the most important legion. i think it is clear in a sense at best biden admin strigz is getting snookered. there is a darker possibility based on three officials saying to politico they want to "steady" the relationship with china because if ukraine, war in middle east and the president's reelection campaign. if you're china and the country that you regard as existential threat, xi jinping regards us a threat, what does that tell you? you ended angle on potential for worse. i think that is very real. look at president biden, kind of omega version of walk in the woods, doddeling around. president biden met putin in 2021 and eight months later invaded. and kennedy had a meeting in vienna and berlin crisis and cuba missile crisis. if he's coming and sizing us up, i don't have any information, they have not suspended the military builted build-up. it is a dangerous time. i don't think the biden administration is naive, they can be ruthless, including toward republicans. what is their calculation? they think conflict is quite possible and they're trying to placate. i hate to use the word appeasement, it is overused, that is what it smells like. >> laura: total appeasement, you don't have to hesitate using that word. ned, i mentioned covid and china releasing this virus accidentally or on purpose, released the virus, lied about it, destroyed records, disappeared people who knew the truth and we are supposed to say thanks for the promise about fentanyl, all forgiven. the issue of covid did come up and this is how xi addressed it today. >> the world has emerged from the covid pandemic but is still under tremendous impact. the global economy is recover ing but its momentum remains sluggish. still under the threat of interruption and protection is rising. these are grave problems. >> laura: protectionism is bigger thet than communism itself. your reaction to that, ned. >> no, the sad part, a lot of ruling class like the chinese model of governance, i don't think they have a problem with it. they wouldn't mind it came to our shores. i'm shocked by incredible weakness, biden has to ask xi to stop the flow of fentanyl in our country. we could secure our border and be in control of that conversation instead of begging them to do that. he is begging them to have a conversation with iran about hezbollah and hamas. incredible weakness, as we give billions to iranians and asking the chinese to have a conversation and call off their attack dogs. the things that will be discussed, chinese spy balloon attacking taiwan, china building nuclear arsenal, covid and biological warfare on the world and what are consequences of that? biden will never bring it up and biden will never state existential threat china is to our future and our allies. a lot of us think he is compromised by money that flowed from the ccp to the biden family and make the argument that biden is meeting with the paymaster when he meets with xi jinping. >> laura: you know what they would say if the shoe were on the other foot and the trump family received payments, mike, when trump was in office from foreign governments or shady businesses to do nothing, have no talent but get huge checks through vague accounts and end up in the brother or son's pocket, they wouldn't have trouble drawing the connection back to a republican president thchl is ignored when we look at that matrix of problems we have right now. michael, to your point, you wrote "the 100-year marathon," this is the long game for china, they are looking 10, 20, 30, 40 years down the road. look what asia, australia, european nations might think now about the united states? are we stronger or weaker after speaking as we did with xi? >> well, laura, we look unreliable. the rhetoric of the last 2-1/2 years by biden, he tried to match trump's rhetoric in first year, china will never pass us, they commit genocide, that seems to be gone now. if you are a partner nation of america and watch this show, including biden's comments, you will be very confused. it is as though the americans did not mean it. concrete majors have not passed congress. you may have seen heritage foundation president article that the house republicans are not passing all the key legislation that has been proposed about china. for example, whether companies have to report investment in china or not, that failed in house services. chinese know this and watch carefully. they know we are a nation of talkers who are all bark and no bite when it comes to pressure on china. >> laura: they know money talks. exactly, trump wasn't they way, trump got negotiations going. >> laura: he understood he had leverage, trump -- chinese only understand raw power and patriotic nationalistic spirit, they don't respect people fawn at them and put out flags for them, they don't respect that. they dominate the situation and to that point, i disagree slightly with mike on this, you are putting it too mildly. we look incredibly weak and mike, how often have i disagreed with you? never. i don't think we look confused, we look weak and america does not look like we are running the show, america looks like we are taking orders from e zoo, that is how we look. >> i would say it is the worst possible outcome, we look weak and sort of like we are asking them a favor. but we've succeeded under this administration in convincing them that according to the journal that xi jinping thinks we want to strangle them. that situation existed, it is analogous of the situation before pearl harbor. i was on a thing with senior chinese and i asked them do you think we are trying to contain and suppress you?
