nashville. this is a live look where soon president biden is going to try to convince the american people that his meeting today with communist dictator xi jinping is the beginning of something really beautiful. now, think about it. president xi rules over, what, 1.3 billion chinese, through a relentless campaign of fear and oppression. but, we're supposed to believe that he is actually someone we can trust as america gradually gives up her leverage. be someone that we can do business with. after all, china set the raw chemicals to mexico that killed hundreds of thousands of americans when it was turned into fentanyl. but now, after spending some glorious moments with joe biden, he says that he is going to pull all that back. what a guy. well, we know big business is going to go for all of this nonsense. but will america? joining me now is trace gallagher chief breaking news correspondent and host of fox news at night. trace, what are we learning tonight? >> yeah, we will get to those items in a minute there, laura. we want to kind of point out this meeting appeared to last about four hours between president biden and president xi. we know that four hour point they took a walk in the garden outside of the venue which was in woodside, california. we are here in san francisco that they cleaned up so amazingly. but this was in woodside about 32 miles away down in the peninsula, very close to stanford university. along that walk, president biden was asked how it was going, and he just said well. we can tell you as you kind of noted there, laura, off the top, they came to a couple of pretty firm agreements. one is the fentanyl. the chemicals that china has been sending primarily to mexico and they use those chemicals to make fentanyl and ship it over to the united states. so china says they will stop sending the chemicals but does it stop the problem? the answer is probably not because the border is still wide open. so, the cartels are going to buy the chemicals from somebody else and continue to ship those fentanyl drugs over an open border and kill tens of thousands of americans. the other deal we expect to be made on this is to open up military lines of communication. military ties here. remember, those lines of communication were taken down a couple of years ago after nancy pelosi visited taiwan. so the deal here is that it's a hotline. that they can communicate with each other directly in case there is any kind of friction in the taiwan straits or the south china sea. they can maybe get in touch with other -- with each other directly and they can try and work this out. the problem with that is, there is no agreement that we have heard of that the chinese military is going to stop taunting the u.s. military over the past several months. we know that chinese planes have come very close in the taiwan strait to american fighter planes. and ships as well down there, very close to other chinese ships. will that end? that is something we don't know at this point. the big point of contention in all of this for president xi has been that he wants assurances from president biden to make sure that he does not support taiwan independence. you know, the president has said president biden has said a number of times that independence is up to taiwan. and that the united states would send military troops to taiwan to protect them. the white house has backed that off and walked it back in every occasion. and the question is did he get that assurance from xi and on the flip side, laura, the president would like president xi to talk to iran about this war in israel, trying to tell him if he can use influence to get those iranian proxies, hezbollah, hamas, and others pulled back and to stop going after american troops. we will find out, laura, who came out on top in the next couple of weeks, in the next couple of months. we will see china's actions. do they have any more rogue balloons? do they taunt our military troops in the taiwan straits? and does iran back off in this war in the middle east? a lot of questions we expect a lot of answers or at least some answers when the president takes to the podium a few minutes from now. >> laura: trace, was there any conversation that you know about or that's been reported yet about ukraine? because, of course, we know that xi is supporting putin and we're fighting, you know, proxy fighting in the war in ukraine and hundreds of billions of dollars eventually will be going there from the united states. so what about that? >> yeah, we know it came up. we know that ukraine came up as did the war in israel. and when it documents ukraine, yeah, president biden's wish is that, you know, there could be some consensus there. i mean, the united states is sending a boat load, billions more than $100 billion in weapons to ukraine and, of course, you have china supporting russia and that is a big point of contention in all of this. the question is, is there any kind of momentum on that? is there any kind of agreement? we have heard of none so far. whether they went and delved deep into that we are unclear. they spent most of the time talking about the war in israel versus the war in ukraine. laura. >> laura: trace, as always, great to see you. >> hammers and sickos. that he was the focus of tonight's angle i know, it was all hammer and sickos in san francisco since the arrival of china's dictator, xi jinping. americans desperate to honor and impress him decided to make him feel right at home now that is a flag that represents subjugation, oppression, and persecution, not just to the chinese who fled but for those who have no way out of china and for a second in watching this welcome that xi received on our soil, i thought that was watching my old favorite flick from the mid 80's, red dawn. ♪ >> laura: seriously, watching the biden cabinet, the regime media, these american plutocrats, off and on all over xi, i'm sorry, it's just disgusting. did they forget that china did what it did during covid? not only did they cover up the origins of the virus that killed millions, but, also, with brutal efficiency they locked down hundreds of millions of people in their own homes and sprawling apartment complexes. only thing chinese citizen could say do was to scream on heir balconies at night. [shouts] >> laura: think of the two million uyghurs languishing in what they call reeducation camps, internment camps. per xi's directives they sit there tortured guy bawrdz, including some of them who have actually escaped, the guards i'm talking about, to tell the world about the rampant human rights abuses that occur. >> do the police officers use electric batons to shock prisoners? >> yes. everyone uses different methods. >> for years, stories of arbitrary arrests, unspeakable cruelty and mass internment examps have been trickling out of china's region. >> if you want people to confess, use the electric baton. we would tie two electrical wires on the tips and set the wires on their genitals while the person tied up. results is better. >> laura: apparently joe biden joe biden, the press and ceo paid up to $40,000 to be at a banquet dictator. they are not fazed by any of this or what has been done to the christians in china whose churches have been bulldozed on xi's orders. is the google ceo also not concerned about what's happened to hong kong ceos who have been disappeared by china? or the ones who have been thrown into solitary confinement for years like jimmy lye? all these people for money have a convenient case of amnesia because they are so desperate expand, export and sell more stuff there and the biden ventriloquist, well, they want a beautiful green future with china. that's funny. of course, this requires improving the u.s.-china relationship. but the truth is biden is already compromised. given how much money his son hunter made there for no discernible talent other than being the then vice president's son. now, y'all remember during the 2020 election, president biden denied all of the money that was made. my son has not made money in terms of this thing about -- what are you talking about? china. >> laura: it took the press years to finally admit that joe was not telling the truth about that. and why? because hunter himself testified that he had, in fact, made a substantial sum of money from chinese interest. plus, of course, this had all been confirmed by documents emails and so forth found on hunter's laptop which the press claimed was russian disinformation, again, conveniently during the campaign. so, when someone repeatedly reveals himself through his bad actions, don't make excuses for him. believe what he does. do not believe what he says. but, despite all that we know about what china has done in supporting russia, as i was talking to -- with trace or stealing our intellectual property, dumping cheap products here, committing genocide, biden thinks xi is a straight arrow. >> host you in the united states has been a great honor and pleasure. there is no substitute face-to-face discussions. i have always found our discussions straightforward and frank and i have always appreciated them. >> laura: i think he meant to say the business that they sent his son, well, that was always appreciated. all right. let's be candid here. this is a really sad day for those of you was who remember when america stood for freedom. when american leaders did not grovel before dictators. when the world saw us, you know, that america was rising. not one country stumbling toward a future with a dictator like xi. someone becoming almost xi's puppet. but this is what our leaders want. and unless we get new leaders in 2024. there is no reason tonight to believe things are not going to get even worse. and that's the angle. joining us now and i'm delighted is congressman mike gallagher, chairman of the house china select committee. i want to talk about the ceos in a moment, congressman. but, first, your reaction to hearing what's coming out of this meeting is xi jinping, given everything we know about him, a man that we can do business with and trust? >> no. absolutely not. and regardless of what comes out of this meeting, think of the price we have already paid just so biden could sit down with xi for this photo op. for two years now, the administration has completely taken its foot off the gas. they have not sanctioned any chinese officials. they attempted to down play, if not cover up the spy balloon incident. there has been no meaningful investigation into the origins of covid. also, that we could spend -- send cabinet secretaries to china, to beg the ccp, to have this meeting that the price we have already paid. now i worry coming out of this meeting some commitment to working together on fentanyl but like every other commitment that the ccp has made in more history, the chinese communist party will violate that commitment time and again fall victim to this trap where we pay cash up front and the ccp's check is always in the mail. that is the risk right now. >> laura: do you agree bob lighthizer probably knows more about trade than any other american what he said on the angle the other night is basically what they are really playing for here is not about fentanyl or any of this. what xi wants are those tariffs lifted. trump's tariffs lift in a second biden term. what would you wager on the proposition that that was discussed and whether a wink and a nod that they understood that those tariffs are coming off if biden wins? >> well, i'm sure it was discussed. the 301 tariffs that ambassador lighthizer put in place, it's absolutely essential that we don't get rid of those for some illusory promise of cooperation in the future. and more to the point, i think, what the biden administration wants over the next year is that there's nothing that could imperil their efforts to get reelected. that's why they put so much focus on turning the temperature down in the relationship but because they misunderstand the nature of this regime. the marxist len nist regime, they don't understand the more you appease, the more you accommodate, the more aggressive xi jinping becomes whether it's the economic coercion they are elm banking on globally. whether it's the hacking of cabinet official emails at the very same moment those same cabinet officials are going to china. how much more evidence do we need to suggest that getting into the endless negotiation trap is not a good strategy. >> laura: congressman, i said this in the angle but, they lied about this virus. they are still lying. millions of people died and they are probably working on other vvaccines at other bioweapons labs right now. all the other human rights abuses, trade abuse, everything they have done but the covid issue? i mean we are kind of like oh, let's move on. let's move on? >> that's critical. because the people that make the case for cooperation with the ccp, usually cite public health and pandemic prevention as an area with our interest are aligned. they also, of course, cite climate change which is why john kerry is sitting in the room with president biden and xi jinping, they're saying when it comes to ai, artificial intelligence we have shared interest with the chinese communist party in regulating that technology going forward. i can guarantee you that xi jinping has no other interest when it comes to a.i. than to dominate the technology in order to use it for evil and to further destroy american global leadership. that's who we are dealing with on the other side of the table. >> laura: congressman, you are a true leader on this issue. thank you very much. all right, we're still waiting to see how biden tries to pin today's discussions. senator tom cotton, victor davis hanson, elbridge colby and a lot more. this is going to be fun so stay there. ♪ (car engine revs) (engine accelerating) (texting clicks) (tires squeal) (glass shattering) (loose gravel clanking) >> two large countries china and the united states, turning their back on each other is not an option. it is unrealistic for one side to remodel the other and conflict and confrontation has unbearable consequence force both sides. >> tonight, joe biden is going to walk up to that podium, and is he going to try to explain to america what he he thinks happened during his meeting with president xi. we already know where xi stands. if joe tries to play it off this is successful, it was a cooperative meeting, well then, you know who ended up coming out on top. joining us now eldridge colby, former deputy assistant secretary of defense under president trump. michael pillsbury, senior fellow for china strategy at heritage and ned ryan, founder and ceo of american majority xi warned of unbearable consequences if we decouple. what is he really saying? >> well, it's a warning to the hawks not to go too far. looks to me like both sides are cooperating. the chinese team and biden team to work on the re-election of joe biden. i mean, they are framing this whole thing as biden's move toward peace and dampening down tension. it's a gamble, perhaps the chinese watching the polls and see that there is a very good chance mr. trump returning. they don't want that. so the only other option is to endorse biden. that's how i read the atmospherics of what we have been seeing the last few hours. >> laura: eldridge, the romantic walk in the garden we are looking at on screen now, kind reminds me of the old love connection show where you ask how did your date end? apparently ended quite well for them. but, i want to play a moment from this -- from xi today. watch. >> planet earth is big enough for the two countries to succeed. one country's success is an opportunity for the other. i firmly believe in a promising future of the bilateral relationship. >> laura: what blather. planet earth is big enough for the both of us? it sounds a lot like just kind of a power sharing agreement, elbridge. because we know china shares so well with other countries, correct? >> easter island and samoa and they get the world's most important region. i want to build on the two mikes, mike pillsbury and mike gallagher both said. it's clear in a sense at best the biden administration is getting snookered and there is a 00 of delusion we can compete while cooperating. i want to actually advance a somewhat darker possibility which is based on three senior administration themselves saying on politico that they want to quote, unquote steady the relationship with china. because if ukraine, the war in the middle east and the president's re-election campaign. now, if you're china, and the country that you regard as an existential threat, xi jinping according to the "wall street journal" regards this existential threat begging what does that tell you? ended the angle on a pregnant note potential for worse that is a big deal. look at president biden, that kind of, you know, omega version of walk in the woods. democrat terring around. president biden met with president putin in june of 2021, 8 months later he invaded. crew chevy met with kennedy 1961 in vienna. cuban missile crisis. if he is coming and sizing us up. i don't know any information. we do know they are still -- they haven't suspended the military buildup and everything. we are in a very dangerous time. i want an area where i disagree with congressman gallagher is i don't think the biden administration people are naive or delusional. as we have discussed, laura, they can be incredibly ruthless including toward production. what i fear is that they actually do think conflict is quite possible and they are trying to placate. i hate to use the word appeasement because it is so overused and it's become a canard but that is kind of what it smells like. >> laura: totally appeasement. i don't think you have to hesitate about using that word at all. and, ned, you know, i mentioned issue of covid and china's releasing vice accidentally or for on purpose. it released the virus, lied about it. we weren't able to gather much information from them. they destroyed all the records. disappeared people who knew the real truth. and then we're all supposed to just say oh, thanks for your promise about fentanyl. all is forgiven. so the issue of covid did come up. and this is how xi addressed it today. >> the world has emerged from the covid pandemic. but it is still under tremendous impact. the global economy is recovering, but it's momentum remains sluggish. industrial and supply chains are still under the 24re9 of interruption and protectionism is rising. all these are grave problems. >> laura: he kind of agrees with a lot of globalists here. protectionism is a bigger threat than, you know, communism itself. your reaction to that, ned? >> no, i mean, the sad part is a lot of our ruling class likes the chinese model of governance. i don't think they have a problem with it. they like and appreciate the authoritarianism of china and wouldn't mind if it came on to our shores. i'm just struck by the incredible weakness that's being displayed right now that biden is having to ask xi to stop the flow of fentanyl coming into our country and begging him to stop it. you know, we could actually secure our border. we could actually be in control of that conversation instead of having to beg them to do that. he is begging them to actually have a conversation with iran about hezbollah, about hamas. again, incredible weakness as we are giving billions of dollars to the iranians. then having to ask the chinese to maybe have a conversation and call off their attack dogs. but, you know the things that aren't going to be discussed, again, chinese spy balloons. attacking taiwan, china building out its nuclear arsenal. again as you mentioned the origins of covid and basically biological warfare on the rest of the world. and what are the consequences for that? of course, biden is never going to bring that up. biden is never going t
