state antony blinken. according to reuters, said blinken was wrongly blaming iran for the conflict between israel and hamas and says the u.s. is exacerbating the conflict by overly aligning itself with israel. also, new details on what's happening to u.s. troops overseas. they've been attacked 14 times in just the last week. centcom is telling us two dozen service members were injured on drone attacks in iraq and syria in just one day. earlier today another rocket was fired at u.s. forces in iraq. it was intercepted. no injuries have been reported. now we go live to jerusalem where fox news at night anchor trace gallagher is standing by. is there concern in israel that this conflict is destined to grow wider and more dangerous, especially when it comes to the risk to our troops in the region? >> reporter: yep. yeah, i think it's already there, laura. you are kind of pushing in that direction. you talked about the 14 attacks against u.s. service members in just the past week. it is also worth noting secretary of state blinken, who was blaming iran, as is the biden administration, has vowed to defends u.s. forces, and yet you have all of these u.s. forces being wounded. so far there has been no response from the united states. that could change in the days to come. it is also important to note israel, we're all still waiting for that ground war, that so far has not begun. but it's not without saying that israel has got its hands full. in fact today they had to defend themselves on four different fronts. rockets coming from hamas and gaza. rockets coming from hezbollah in lebanon. rockets coming from syria into israel today, as well as some hamas divers who were found in the ocean apparently moving toward a southern israel beach. they were killed. the tunnel they came out of near the gaza border was also blown up. the response to that, israel has now launched some 400 air strikes in just 24 hours killing top hamas, four top hamas leaders in the process. we are now being told that the prime minister, benjamin netanyahu, met today with israeli defense forces, kind of going back to the ground war. he said they are ready. he also said the quote is the next stage is coming. the question around the world is when does the next stage come? and the backup question to that will be, does hezbollah get involved from the north and does this become a much wider conflict? >> laura: i know you visited with families who have been dislaced and they lost moved ones in the horrific massacre october 7th. what do they tell you? were these are families living in a jerusalem kibbutz. they are also families whose homes were destroyed, whose family members were attacked in the october 7th attack. they are now trying to figure out what the next move is for them. they've spent the past two plus weeks going to the hospital visiting family and friends, attending funerals. some tell me they have attended as many as four funerals a day in those weeks. there's also concern for their children. we really haven't focused on that. there are hundreds of children in the kibbutz. they come in all ages. it's very difficult to figure out what to do with them. they can't find enough teachers, enough coach, not enough activities. one parent told me that he believe what's happening here is these kids are going to lose out on one more aspect of their life. watch. >> it's like a lost generation. i mean, missing on lessons. what are we going to do with them? how are they ever going to keep up? how are they going to finish their grades, their tests? do we go back home or do they go back to class. they're missing classmates. some have been killed. how do we deal with that? what do i tell my kids? >> reporter: he said his 7-year-old son six months ago had to crawl under his school bus and stay there because the air raid sigh lens had gone off. everybody, young, old, has been affected by what's going on in israel, laura. >> laura: trace, phamas doesn't think about the children in israel. they are all disposable. everyone is being hurt by this barbarity. thank you very much, trace. negotiating with terrorist. that's the focus of tonight's angle. we all know it's a longstanding u.s. policy that our government does not negotiate with terrorists who are making threats or taking hostages. makes sense in a general matter because saying otherwise would put an invisible bounty on the heads of americans working and traveling abroad. as the years war on, u.s. presidents maintained this policy. as usual, obama muddied the waters all the while claiming to stick with the old policy. >> i officially believe the united states paying random so terrorists risks endangers more americans and funding the very terrorism that we're trying to stop. at the same time, we are clarifying that our. sy does not prevent communication with hostage taker by our government, the familiar list of hostages or third parties who help these families. when appropriate, our government may assist these families and private efforts in those communications. >> laura: obviously we all understand and try to understand the pain that families of these hostages are going through, desperation. ultimately obama's move did nothing to disincentive rise hostage takers. if anything, it did the opposite. this move came after obama's swap of high ranking taliban at gitmo or one army deserter, bergdahl. >> we seized the opportunity. in terms of potential threats, the release of the taliban who were being held in guantanamo, we will be keeping eyes on them. >> laura: oh, yeah. we all know how that ended up. one of the released prisoners is suspected of returning to the battlefield. qataris were really on it. now a more dangerous precedent could be set with 200 hostages that were taken during the october 7th attack. rather being held accountable for their barbaric murder of civilians and torture of women and children, hamas is using hostages to win propaganda points and stall an invasion. >> it is hamas video. it's not clear what propaganda purpose they may have been thinking of when they allowed this to be filmed. this is an extraordinary moment. an 85-year-old israeli grandmother was released by hamas. >> it's okay, let's go. >> you can see her shaking the hand of a masked gun man, shalom, or peace, she says, as she's led away. >> laura: the report did describe the atrocities committed in the kibuttz. hamas got a very valuable photo op with that handshake. we all want the hostages to be released. we also risk losing sight of what they've done to innocent israelis about the terror groups wartime preparedism. >> we know the tunnels have air conditioning. there was shampoo, antibiotics. it is stunning. you have a contrast with what's happening above the ground, where there isn't water, never mind shampoo, okay? hamas stock piled all of that and has that under ground. >> laura: that's true. that's not all. hamas didn't simply have ac and meds. they were prepared for female hostages. >> everyone is prepared by the scale of the attack but the preparations for hostage taking seem to be a significant piece of the plan. >> yes. when they say prepared, they were there for prepared -- let's just go ahead, if we're being honest. that means they had tampons. that is a level of preparation for what they were going to do. >> laura: if i didn't know better, i'd say cnn almost giving hamas a five star rating on trip adviser. >> the mundane reality of having feminine hygiene products, it is those very specifics that are most striking. >> laura: no. what's most striking is how little we seem to have learned about terror groups taking hostages. if you give them an inch they'll take a mile. next time they'll take more prisoners. that's why we should let israel make their own decisions. remember this is the same crowd in the biden white house that transferred $6 billion to fund the release of americans in iran, only for humanitarian aid the $6 billion will be used for. under pressure post october 7th the white house did order the funds to be put on hold but not permanently frozen. >> $6 billion i understand iran hasn't accessed any of this yet. there have been reports of this agreement. yes or no, if iran wanted to access it today, could they? >> i'm not going to speculate one way or other about future transactions. none of it has been accessed and we are watching every dime. as you would expect we would. we're watching it very closely. >> laura: this is not the time for amateurs but unfortunately that's what america has in charge. at a time when americans are asked to go further into debt, we need clarity now more than ever. to that point, you can't understand how young people get fooled when our own press refuses to describe hamas accurately. check out the associated press top call guy to the israeli/hamas conflict. says anger on both sides exist. but then claims the term terrorism and terrorist have become politicized, therefore they're not using those terms to describe specific groups. chalk up another victory for the pro hamas propagandaists. >> what is his level of concern about potential rise of anti-semitism in light of everything that's going on in israel? >> look, we have not seen any credible threats. i know there have been questions about credible threats. just want to make sure that's out there. those who are muslim have taken a bunch of hate filled attacks. >> laura: those comments sparked outrage in the american jewish community and beyond which led to kgp doing a big 180 today. >> when jews are targeted because of their beliefs or their identity, when israel is singled out because of anti-jewish hatred, that is anti-semitism and that is unacceptable. there's no place for anti-semitism, full stop. it's important to the president, to me personally and to everyone in the administration. >> laura: full stop period. this is embarrassing. but then again she's been embarrassing from day 1. why is everyone surprised here? hard reality is that as long as joe biden is president, america is going to continue as a nation that goes from crisis to crisis. all our adversaries know this. they're going to use their missteps to advance their own interests and their own propaganda interests. without a confident staff with biden in charge, a staff that's chosen on objective merit not political symbolism or because you're a first. israel should politely tell americans, thanks, but we got this. the biden team came into office firmly believing that the biggest threat to america was americans who didn't agree with them, maga people. that's why the most ruthless person in the entire administration is merrick garland. as far as the others, they're so hapless they become unwinning dukes for our enemy. that's the angle. joining me now molly hemmingway editor in chief fox news contributor. we've got some other domestic news. but biden said israel is making its own decisions, but we know that's not true, don't we? >> there's a reason the ground invasion of gaza hasn't taken place. i'm afraid it's biden and blinken asserting pressure on netanyahu to hold off on that. i think the other thing is the incredible weakness. you called them amateurs. they are incredibly weak amateurs. biden is weak personified. it is his weakness that's brought us to this place and his weakness in dealing with iran. his giving them money even more so lifting sanctions to give them tens of billions in oil revenue to fund hamas, to fund hezbollah. the other thing that's become apparent to me in washington this weakness play out in this specific situation and watching those abhorrent comments from the white house yesterday about anti-semitism, i think they are in a different cut place at home. the rabied left, which is the democratic base is very anti-semitism, very pro palestinian. if they go too hard on this issue, you have the 2024 elections coming up. if they alienate that rabied left, you've lot the white house. their weakness has put them in a very awkward place international but also a very awkward police politically in this country. >> laura: we'll get into that rather on with ed rawlings. john kirby was asked today and he was asked to grade biden's presidency so far. tough question. watch. >> do you want me to give him a report card? a plus. being president of the united states means balancing an awful lot of priorities and challenges. president is managing it really well because of his long experience in government, the wisdom he brings to the job, the relationships he's had. he's on top of it all. >> laura: molly, literally no one on the face of the planet believes that. no one. >> i don't know if there's anyone in the biden administration that i have lost more respect for than john kirby who is saying things absurd. joe biden was very clear that he opposed every aspect of president trump's domestic and foreign policy. he ran on that. we are now seeing what the fruit of that opposition is, with president trump you saw in the middle east, expanding peace with historic, the move of the embassy to jerusalem, with the signing of the abraham accord. with things like when sulmani was attacking our troops, we took him out. there was no fear about being strong but you saw expanding peace in the region. with biden, the middle east is on fire. we have hostages. we have a horrific situation breaking out that americans will be paying for. it is just a reminder that when he said he opposed that foreign policy when he was elected, we are really suffering from that. >> laura: on the house spaoeakes race, which is still going on, trump came out against tom emmer from minnesota. that killed his chances of being the next choice. basically wrote on truth social the republican party can't take that chance because that's not where the america first voters are. voting for tom emmer would be a tragic mistake. he was out in a matter of minutes. >> that's correct. e emmer, it is hard to believe that he was nominated to be speaker. he was pushing the popular vote pushed by soros. it is appalling that he was even considered for speaker. tom emmer was never going to be speaker. gaetz has five votes. too bad jordan couldn't convince some of the big funders that wanted to see the ukraine gravy rain going. the problem, laura, is this. some of the infighting that took place in terms of who would be supporting the 022 midterms led to republicans only having the four seat majority instead of a 20 seat majority. now you've got swamp creatures, america first mentality fighting each other. >> laura: yeah. >> i don't see a path forward. lot of people in the greater world who say, if there's no speaker, does that mean we won't get any more spending that will sell us out? we're final in the short term. >> laura: molly, we're just learning there may be a deal proposed where there may be a co-speakership with jordan and mccarthy. molly, is this more trial balloons that will go nowhere or is that an interesting idea? real quick? >> seems like we are having the conference come to terms with how bad the situation is. as the number of votes keep getting lower, whether people might try some kind of strategy like that. those are two people broadly liked by the conference. it might satisfy different wings. who knows? >> laura: if all republicans stick together, they can get this done. some attention grabs headlines about israel were just made. we'll be on it next.
