however, president biden is telling israel to delay any ground operation to go after the hamas terrorists that slaughtered israeli citizens on october 7th. what happened that day tipped israel into war against those hostage-taking serial killers. and now the israeli defense force has debuted a new weapon system, the iron sting. it's hyper accurate technology used to destroy hamas rocket launchers. i'm harris faulkner and you are in "the faulkner focus." a bipartisan group of senators made the trip to israel over the weekend and assured their unwavering support of america's fight against hamas. >> we stand with israel in their fight against a terrorist organization that is unleashing hate onto this world. >> destroying hamas is non-ne non-negligible. >> there is no moral equivalents here. what we saw with regard to hamas was an attempt to actually make more civilian deaths as bloody and vicious as possible. >> harris: idf stepping up both aerial attacks and raids on gaza terror hubs. in the north by the border with lebanon, the idf says the increase of hezbollah attacks and dragging lebanon into war would be a dangerous game to play. secretary of state antony blinken weighed in on the prospect of a second front in the war. >> no one wants a second or third front including when it comes to lebanon. northern israel/southern lebanon. that's not in anyone's interest and why we sent a very strong message to try to deher hezbollah and deter iran from opening up a second front. no one is looking for that second front. >> harris: fox team coverage. rich edson standing by at the pentagon. we begin with trey yengst in southern israel with the latest on the ground there. trey. >> good morning. 17 days into this war factions inside gaza, including hamas and islamic jihad have maintained capability to fire on southern and central israel. sirens sounding again today following a night of 320 air strikes against the strip. seen mortar fire into southern israeli communities and anti-tank missile killing one israeli soldier coming as we continue to gather more information on the hostages inside gaza, 222 of them. one of them a man who was a peace activist and he is 79 years old. his son is calling for his release. take a look. >> blood-stained floors lead to bullet holes in a shelter door. if the walls of this house could speak, they would weep. residents here in this city were executed at point blank range. some homes frozen in time. small pieces of life scattered amid the remains of death. in others recovery teams are still finding burned bodies. 25% of this city's population is missing or dead. the other 75% is left to make sense of the senseless, to be a voice for the voiceless. >> if you could just speak to him, what would you say? >> hold on, we're coming. we are doing our best. >> he grew up in this city. his brother was killed in the october 7th massacre and his father taken hostage. >> we didn't take the time to be sad yet and we didn't take the time to mourn yet. we feel -- i feel and our small family feels that we have a mission. >> that mission is to bring 79-year-old dad home. a man who spent his life helping palestinian children in gaza and making art to protest violence against palestinians. the israeli army now controls what's left of this city amid the trees and houses, soldiers wait for their next mission. on the other side of a fence topped with barbed wire black smoke is seen on the horizon. israeli air force is striking gaza. you can hear the israeli air strikes along the gaza strip. what you are looking at is gaza. this city sits less than a mile from the border. militants walked into the quiet community last saturday, slaughtering so many innocent people in their homes. another story we're following out of this city is a young 9-year-old. it's his birthday today and he is currently held hostage inside gaza. it gives you a sense of the brutality conducted against the southern communities. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu along with the dutch prime minister said it's a fight for our common civilization. >> harris: you mentioned the horrors we've seen. there is now this push to put out video that would have been on the gopros and helmet cameras and what not of what i call monsters of hamas. and what is being said about that? what is the goal of that? they are very difficult to watch and going all over the world. they are necessary, though, for people who say this actually didn't happen and is israel's fault. >> absolutely. just as there were holocaust deniners in the past there are massacre deniers today. it's critical we go to these communities and document what took place and provide all of the evidence we can gather because so many innocent people were slaughtered here. there are people around the world trying to say it didn't happen. they don't believe their eyes and what the cameras have captured. to give you a sense of how we're reporting we were with a unit that goes into different areas and cleans up after a massacre and they were in a bomb shelter today where the massacre took place at a music festival gathering body parts and bloody clothing. i spoke with a man live earlier on fox and he was one of the first responders saying that he found beheaded bodies. and so they have taken photos of these bodies. we will get those photos and blur the images and public what we can within means to insure that we aren't promoting any of this or helping in the propaganda of this brutal attack against innocent people and gather the meta data from the photos that gives us the location, time and date. our goal is to gather as much information as evidence as possible so the people trying to say it didn't happen simply can't look away. >> harris: it is an important point. one, you don't want to be in the middle of whatever propaganda people may use. we have seen signs being made and some of those pictures and seen people going around the united states of america tearing down the pictures of some of the hostages, some who are americans taken by hamas terrorists. we've seen so much happening. when you grab the meta data from the photos and videos, that tells us so much about when and where and then who. great work as always, trey yengst, thank you. the united states is tightening up our own presence in the middle east region. more naval strike groups are en route now and the pentagon is issuing prepare to deploy orders to our military men and women. iranian forces fighting on behalf of iran in countries around the middle east are targeting us now. one took aim over the weekend at some of our bases sparked major concerns for our troops in what could be a wider war. defense secretary lloyd austin with this. >> we're concerned about potential escalation. in fact, what we're seeing is the prospect of a significant escalation of attacks on our troops and our people throughout the region. and because of that, we are going to do what's necessary to make sure that our troops are in a good position and protected, and that we have the ability to respond. >> harris: let's go to senior national correspondent rich edson at the pentagon with more. >> all of that means that the pentagon is sending more to bolster american defenses in the region sending more fire power to the middle east as a result of all this. it is a pretty long list and growing list. the big news over the weekend is that the u.s.s. carrier strike group eisenhower is going to the persian gulf. it was initially sailing to join the ford strike group in the eastern mediterranean after militia's fired rockets at u.s. forces the pentagon redirected the eisenhower. thousands of marines and sailors are ready to respond and thousands of troops ready to deploy and sending more defense systems. the pentagon announced it would send more fighter jets in the middle east. they have now arrived. much of this is to bolster american forces already facing attacks from iran-backed militias. they launched drones and rockets wednesday and friday against u.s. positions in iraq. houthis in yemen fired missiles at israel. it is time to never cut a deal with iran again. >> the iranians are a threat to us as well and so this is an emergency. it is an emergency that we step up and deal with this axis of evil, china, russia, iran, because it's an immediate threat to the united states. >> the biden administration had tried restoring that 2015 nuclear agreement with iran. officials argued it was the best way to contain iran's advancing nuclear program. the administration has added more sanctions against iran. many congressional republicans want the u.s. to go much further. back to you, harris. >> harris: in "focus" now is mike glover. glad to have you in "focus" today. this idea of telling a country to pause and wait on a ground invasion, i'm curious what does that communicate to particularly hamas, but other enemies around the world about what israel may or may not do? does it give them time to ramp up against them? >> yeah, it's a double edged sword. the difficulty here is israel is being very overt with their phased operation. the reason they're doing that is they are trying to be transparent and telling people we are going to target hamas telling the international community hamas will put innocent people in front of them as shields to let everybody understand there will be civilian casualties. in that same token, literally on the flip side of that you have a hostage situation where you have 300 miles of tunnels under the city and have the hostages likely being kept and we're trying to play this game where we're saying if we just hesitate a little bit we can get a couple more if you just slow down the campaign. every single day that goes by, the enemy is advancing an upgrading their position. that's a very difficult situation to be in. >> harris: look, i understand to coming home we might get a couple more. all of that. when do our people go in and help out with that effort with hostages? do you foresee that happening? can you imagine our forces and the specialties like yourself in special forces along with idf, both military fighting forces, renowned in their ability to do this kind of work on the ground? >> i'm surprised we haven't heard about it thus far. maybe there is a reason for that. i would say look, we've done hostage rescue operations behind enemy lines across the entire global pursuit of terrorism. it something that's common. the men and women of special operations that do these jobs is what they do. they are having to be tactically patient. it is driving them insane. it is likely to happen in the ground campaign where you start pushing across and clearing ground and then strategically and tactically on the ground hitting precise targets based on the intel that's gathered. again, this war is likely to take place on both the surface and 100 feet underground with 300 plus miles of tunnels. >> harris: i want to talk a little more about the hostages and i have to ask you about lebanon, let's go here. idf has increased the number of hostages being held by hamas in gaza and so could this be just one of the reasons why the biden administration and other nations are asking israel to delay its ground movement into gaza by more than two weeks after the hamas hit israelis? it seems like an incredible amount of time. here is national secretary spokesman john kirby on that. watch. >> we have been in active discussion with israeli officials since the beginning of this conflict to make sure we had a good understanding of their intentions, their plans, where they were trying to take things to see if we could better understand how they have answered the tough questions that any military needs to ask themselves before they commit to a large-scale operation of any kind. we want to make sure we have an understanding how they are coming to those solutions and answers. >> harris: first of all, do we even believe the hostage taking serial killers as i call them, monsters, hamas, grow the numbers every few days. first 200 to 250, now 300. can we even trust anything that they tell us? the other thing is rockets are going from gaza into israel again. so clearly israel is going to have to get on the move. >> yeah. one, you should never trust hamas and anything they say. >> harris: we trusted the taliban, remember that? and didn't get our people out. afghanistan, the pull-out, disaster. >> exactly. yeah. it's a big thing that is happening that's very different in this campaign versus other campaigns where talking points -- can you imagine i said this the other night, can you imagine taking al qaeda talking points post 9/11 while the world trade center was still smoldering. that's what's happening right now. you don't trust them. on the flip side of that we have to understand that every piece of information is potentially intelligence that will lend itself to bringing home an american and international and israeli and that's very important to hone in on. the intelligence that's come in from the two americans that were just brought home, you better believe they are getting questioned. you better believe that will be a significant part of the information, intelligence for decision making going forward. again, the crisis as it sits as a hostage rescue is one of the most difficult situations. even more difficult than the iran hostage crisis that took place. >> harris: and here we are again. all right. today's "new york post" cover showing hamas's evil has no bounds. the idf posting chilling video showing a soldier unpacking a child's school bag in a field. the bag was booby-trapped containing an activated explosive device wearing 15 pounds. they chose a child's backpack with the hope a well-intentioned civilian would pick it up. israel has also found the bodies of hamas victims bobby trapped with bombs. israel's ground operation to destroy hamas will be moving through a minefield literally. perhaps even worse. whip can't imagine. hamas terrorists killed in the horrific october 7th attack were carrying instructions on them, on their bodies on how to deploy sign -- cyanide chemical bombs. >> we shouldn't be surprised. look, i have a show on my youtube and for the first time in the history of me doing things about preparedness, i've been attacked by people, even friends of mine, who are saying i shouldn't be supporting israel. and universally our position on terrorism i thought was common to all. for the first time i'm seeing this anti-semitic behavior and i am taken back by it. i have fought side-by-side muslims across the entire spectrum of warfare in many different countries fighting a common evil which is terrorism. hamas are cowards, evil and they are terrorists. while an israeli fights to protect and defend, hamas puts innocent people in front. even their own children to sacrifice. it is mind-boggling, disgusting and not surprised by any of this. >> harris: put that back up, please. holding up the manual with pictures and everything just in case they couldn't figure out anything that the terrorists needed some elements to show them how to do this. the last time i heard anything like this was from my dad in vietnam where they would put bombs on little ones and soldiers would be drawn to help those children and then they would all blow up. sacrificial little ones. their lives just blown away along with our military personnel. your last quick thought on the new iron sting, the strategy to take out rockets. >> it's -- the technology of warfare is always advancing. the more precise that we can be on the battlefield the better off we are in reducing casualties, especially civilians that we don't want to harm. we will have to utilize these. 6,000 rockets in a short period of time. as a reminder before i get off today is the 40th anniversary of the beirut bombing where 241 u.s. service members were killed 40 years ago in beirut, lebanon. let's not forget that. we have been fighting these campaigns. this is something that is not new to america. not new to israel. we'll stay the course and the fight. >> harris: we pray for their families and all our men and women deployed in the middle east now. we have seen over the weekend they are a target. mike glover, a pleasure to have you on, your expertise. thank you for your service. >> thank you. [shouting] >> harris: this is brooklyn. the violence on the streets of new york during a massive anti-israel rally, 19 protestors arrested during clashes with nypd. it was just one of several anti-israel protests across america over the weekend. a growing number of colleges are holding their own anti-israel protests since the war began and some jewish students say they no longer feel safe at school. alexis mcadams is here from columbia university with more on this. that's just up the street from where i sit in new york city. that looked like beirut decades ago. >> that's right. those videos coming out of brooklyn are having a lot of people demanding answers as to what exactly went on. we'll get to more on that after the protestors were throwing bottles and more at those officers. that's when those arrests came. it is also on the campuses at columbia, nyu. look on the screen. the students who were seen on these videos ripping down the posters of the hostages who were taken by hamas and then they threw those into the garbage at nyu. those students could be getting in trouble, could be disciplined. that comes after thousands of students signed a petition asking the school to do something. listen. >> it's supposed to be a neutral space and a place where students come together. it is really the focal point of nyu. once they let that happen in their library and security stands by without doing anything and nobody shuts it down and students feel unsafe. >> in chicago 10,000 people marching down the magnificent mile standing with the palestinian people. in minneapolis there was an incident where a driver was confronted bay crowd of protestors. in atlanta massive crowds took to the streets with very different viewpoints. watch. >> i don't see the palestinians trying to bomb. we are trying to be peaceful. they are limiting us from the holy land. >> israel wants nothing but peace but have to defend themselves and do everything they can to defend themselves. >> those protests happening across the country. 19 arrest in brooklyn, new york after officers tried to stop the crowd taking over the street. people threw fireworks, bottles, you name it and they were arrested. watch this. >> we will free palestinian within our lifetime. >> more protests like that across cities and college campuses are planned within the coming days. we'll keep a close eye on that. >> harris: thank you very much. republican senator joni ernst from iowa member of the armed services committee and army combat veteran herself, great to have you with me in "focus" and maybe we can figure out together what is happening just on the streets of our own cities. i said it looked like beirut decades ago. it looked like iran when they were trying to start their green revolution. all along as they fought for their own freedoms they said they hated us. >> yes, harris. this is absolutely unacceptable. whether it's on a college campus, whether it is on the streets in any town usa. absolutely unacceptable to be fostering this hatred and anti-semitism. it has to end. this is no different than what we saw to the build-up in the holocaust where we saw european nations that tried to wipe out the jewish people. we can't allow this. israel wants peace and they are doing all they can to make sure that innocent lives are not lost but you see these people backing hamas all across the united states and they are fostering fear and terror not just in the gaza strip and israel but now at our own homeland. again, harris, absolutely unacceptable. >> harris: i talked about this earlier in the program. hours ago israeli military showed journalists hamas body cam videos of the brutal massacre on october 7th. the idf says it is doing that to silence doubters and conspiracy theorists. one spokesperson described it as a holocaust denial evolving in realtime. that's what you are telling us. why is it happening now? >> because we have too often turned a blind eye to hatred and fear stoning. we have universities and colleges in the sake of free speech, they allow terror backing students to come forward and speak hatred. that's not first amendment speech rights, that is inciting violence against a people. inciting anti-semitism across the united states. these universities they need to own up to it and back away. that's why i've joined senator tim scott on efforts to defund those college campuses that allow this type of hatred to exist. they are excusing it and they have to stop. >> harris: i just wrote down part of what you said. it is important to show people the difference when you say you are pro-palestinian and you say you want to help people caught in a humanitarian crisis as two forces, monsters in hamas and israeli defense forces after being attacked october 7th as they potentially meet each other on a battlefield on a future date. one thing to advocate for those people but to say you are pro-hamas is different. why is it such a can undrum for these colleges to say anything. >> it is not protected speech. we can leave that up to the judiciary system. as senator joni ernst and lieutenant colonel retired joni ernst that is not protected speech. in my opinion absolutely not. when they are trying to incite violence and backing the terror groups, absolutely not okay. for these universities to sit idly by and twiddle their thumbs working out some message that is very politically correct, it is not okay. they are cowardly. they are a bunch of cowards and i'm sorry, all of those donors to those universities out there are finally waking up to the fact that these universities are sitting on the sidelines while they are inciting fear and terror here in the united states. they are not standing by and saying that the murder and rape of innocent women, children, the elderly is not okay. they need to be very clear in that message and they have not been. >> harris: it was interesting even dave schapel saying audiene walk out. anyone being pro-terror if those people couldn't get jobs coming out of the colleges and they should be protected. people definitely got up and walked out. as war rages on between israel and hamas, real worries that the conflict now could expand. i can't wait to get your take on this. this comes as the idf says iran backed hezbollah to the north border with lebanon saying they are ramping up attacks from lebanon and israel is firing back. secretary of state blinken with a warning. >> we expect there is a leakly hood of escalation by iranian proxies directed against our forces, directed our personnel. we don't want to see a second or third front develop or see our forces or personnel come under fire. but if that happens, we are ready for it. >> harris: senator lindsey graham adding there would be harsh consequences if iran escalates the war. let's watch that together. >> if the war grows it is coming to your backyard. there won't be two fronts, but three. if there is an effort to unleash hezbollah on the jewish state to destroy it, my attention will be to tehran. if these innocent hostages get slaughtered, i hold you, iran, accountable, because you could stop it if you chose to. the idea that this happened without iranian involvement is laughable. >> harris: is he right? >> he is absolutely correct, harris. iran is behind this. they fund 93% of hamas activity. 100% of the islamic jihad activities not to mention hezbollah and the houthis. it all goes back to iran. who else is involved in this? president biden has been so actively appeasing iran instead of standing up to them. i'm telling you, if we lose more americans, we need to go after iran. it is incredibly important that we push back against them. we need to be interdicting their oil as our sanctions call for. we need to refreeze the $6 billion. come on, president joe biden, we have to do more. we have to push back against iran and tony blinken rick i want to hear more fire in your belly. we as the united states of america are not standing strong enough when it comes to pushing back against this terrorism. this is the going around the globe. i know president biden gave up on the war on terror but it is not over yet. >> harris: the red line isn't visible. we new with president obama, big bold if syria does this and then they hit their people with chemical weapons. apparently biden can't see a red line now. i can't figure out what it would be. not just one american killed, more than 30. not just one american taken or, you know, 50 americans taken, we don't know because the number keeps going up with total hostages by hamas. military bases on alert after being targeted over the weekend. what is the red line with the president? >> there is no red line and you are right, harris. it is invisible to this administration. when they consider continuing to negotiate some sort of nuclear agreement with iran, are you kidding me, harris? these people know only one thing and that is the death and destruction of the jewish nation of israel and america. >> harris: how can you negotiate about something you can no longer see? when the sweetheart deal of the $6 billion in sanctions wiped away on top of a five by five even prisoner swap between the united states and iran. when that happened then we also saw around about that time half of the iaei inspectors come out. we don't know what they have on the ground. we won't know until we get eyes back in there. >> exactly. i can tell you that even though we have hostages that are being held by hamas, they have killed americans. i guarantee this administration are in the deep, dark basement trying to find any other way they can negotiate with iran. what else can we give iran to appease them? instead of being strong and standing up as the united states of america. for heaven sakes we used to be the leader in the free world and what we want to maintain is a free world. not a world dominated by these authoritarian regimes and terrorist proxies. this is unfortunate for us, unfortunate for israel, for ukraine, for afghanistan. we could go on and on and on. there are no more lines with this administration. they see no right or wrong. all they are trying to do is deal in the gray area and they have to get over it. >> harris: one more with you. the "wall street journal" editorial board with this headline. echoes of beirut 1983 in israel today. iran-backed terrorists killed 241 americans without paying a price. a massive vehicle born suicide bombing attack on the marine barracks in beirut kills hundreds. hezbollah claimed responsibility. in the same year the u.s. embassy in beirut was bombed killing another 17 americans by the same group. mike glover was on with me earlier reminding our audience of the importance of this day. >> yes, mike had such a great point. we should all remember that whether it was beirut, whether it was the u.s.s. cole, whether it was 9/11. we can go on and on and on. like i said, president biden said the war on terror is over. but you know who didn't say that? the terrorists. and these islamic terrorists that are out there. those that have that radical ideology. they will not stop. i don't see what president biden and his administration what they don't understand to it. they are chanting death to america. death to israel. they will never stop. we shouldn't, either. >> harris: what do they fear the most? the far left in their own party or what is going on today. will they capitulate to that? >> absolutely. >> harris: thank you for being with us on "focus" today. >> a new week and new set of house republicans at the top of a new short list of candidates to become the next speaker. not that short but anyway, congressman bergman, donalds, hern and others replacing jordan and scalise after their votes failed to produce a house speaker last week. former speaker kevin mccarthy is throwing his support behind minnesota congressman tom emmer. >> tom emmer has been part of our successes for not just winning the majority but being in the room to help us pass a border security bill. to make us energy independent, parents bill of rights, stand up when the democrats wanted to defund the police and decriminalize so many of those laws. tom would be able to walk into the job and do it on day one. >> harris: former house speaker newt gingrich is arguing the best gop candidates were left off the new short list. >> i wish they had a woman candidate out of all the candidates they have running. somebody like stephan he can or van dine. given the level of jove nile it is conceivable a female speaker would be better able to get them to stick together. >> harris: where are we now with names that aren't even on the list being tossed in? >> republicans are no lcloser t getting a speaker. they are unable to legislate. republicans are getting anxious. >> it's my 10th term in congress and one of the most embarrassing things i've seen because if we don't have a speaker of the house we can't govern. every day that goes by we're shut down as a government. we have very important issues right now, war and peace. >> nine republicans are speaking the speakership. tom emmer likely commands the most support but en clear if anyone can win. mike flood has asked each candidate to sign a pledge of unity. seven of the nine have signed on. all but byron donalds and gary palmner. >> this is ridiculous. we have to support the nominee of our conference because a majority party is only one as it votes as a majority. i am sick of sitting in a room listening to everybody talk about their feelings. >> some republicans are looking for an alternative. they mulled the possibility of electing mchenry. >> we should be moving toward given patrick mchenry the powers of the speaker as the speaker pro tem. >> supports fellow floridian byron donalds. had backed a return of mccarthy. republicans hold the candidate forum tonight. a floor vote could come tomorrow. >> harris: i'm smiling at that one lawmaker who said we're just tired of everybody coming to work with their feelings. imagine that. that's exactly what is happening. good to see you, thank you. let's bring in former congressman, former undersecretary of the army and first iraq war veteran patrick murphy and former georgia congressman doug collins. patrick, i come to you first because there is so much going on in the world that we are talking about war and where we are now with being able to make decisions. even if they could come together tomorrow or today and get a speaker and then both sides start to talk, republicans and democrats, your party is really divided on what to do next. in fact, some of them speaking boldly about being pro-hamas. >> i think the majority of democrats like the majority of republicans understand we have to have allies in the fight. >> harris: what about the few that are the loudest in the room? >> that's the greatness of america. a melting pot. people on the far left and right arguing. our friend is israel. >> harris: how will you convince rashida tlaib of that? she is loud. >> that's one vote of the 435. what you see is the chaos in the republican party when they can't i elect a speaker. doug and i served in the military like your father did. we have the saying when you go to range it's ready, aim, fired. they fired speaker mccarthy and had no idea of a backup plan. three weeks we're in chaos. politics should end at our water's edge and it is not. i think it's a sad day. >> harris: all right. he is right about that. there was no plan b, if there was somebody must have erased it off the board, doug. where are we now in the speaker process? how are the american people being served? that's my main thing. some may even say this is how it should be. i'm curious, what are you finding out? >> no, it shouldn't be, harris and why -- i've seen the reports on social media everybody saying we're saving money, the government is not working. this is not the way to run a government. right now we have -- for those out there saying this is good, they need to be in that room and i call on my colleagues. a lot of them are dear friends know all the ones running nouchlt even if we get to the speaker which is difficult. somebody are staking out positions say i won't vote for this one or that one. the real issue is what do you do in almost 20 something more days with a continuing resolution, faa, farm bill, fisa reauthorization, we could go for days on the issues that need to be addressed. something that needs to end soon and may not be one of the names that everybody is talking about. could be one of the nines but one of the names on the list there that people say look, this is somebody who can lead and somebody i will vote for and we get a i way from some of the paralysis that's been there. >> harris: quickly so doug, they can't even do a condemnation of what has happened with hamas on october 7th going after civilian citizens so viciously and brutally. i call them serial killers that like to take hostages. they can't even do a condemnation from the house on that because there is no house speaker. >> i will be honest, harris, i care less about condemnation of hamas, the world has done that. i want to get israel what they need and getting our own troops what they need. >> harris: they can't do the basics. >> they don't be political right now. that's easy for the majority and they can't do the basics. we aren't even running. we are are still trying to walk. >> i agree with doug. it is a disgrace and i think it's a shame in american history that we can't have people come together in washington, d.c. to elect a new speaker of the house. and it is paralysis from overanalysis here. >> harris: we'll see and cover every second of it. in the end there will be a speaker and when that day comes we'll be all over it. thank you both. >> thanks. >> harris: appearing in federal court has become a thing lately for democrat palestinian. >> harris: we know our government does not recognize palestinian as an actual nation at this point. that's what they are saying. we'll cover it. we know that some of these protests have not stayed peaceful and that makes news, too. let's move on. disgraced democrat senator bob menendez back in court today. the once powerful head of the foreign relations committee accused of secretly acting as an agent for the egyptian government. he was criminally charged last month with corruption related counts and they allege menendez and his wife, nadine, accepted bribes including thousands of dollars in cash which were stuffed inside clothes in their house and had gold bars in exchange for his influence. the senator and his wife have pleaded not guilty. bryan llenas from the federal courthouse in new york. >> good morning. it is illegal more members of congress to work as foreign agents but that is exactly what democratic senator bob menendez is charged with doing in this new superseding indictment. secretly promising to take actions that benefit the government of egypt in exchange for bribes. now look, new photos show senator bob menendez side-by-side about egyptian and military officials as well as alongside co-defendants his wife and an egyptian businessman. they were held at the senator's washington, d.c. office and steakhouse and the private residence of an egyptian official in egypt. investigators say thousands of text messages reveal a corrupt triangle where egyptian military and intelligence officials made requests of senator menendez through hannah and nadine in exchange for hundreds of thousands in gold bars and cash. as chairman of the foreign relations committee senator menendez had unique influence over ultimately approving foreign military sales and financing to egypt. prosecutors allege that between 2018 and 2022 menendez insured that military aid kept flowing to egypt and gave egypt sensitive information on the number an nationalities of staff working at the u.s. embassy in cairo and ghost wrote a letter on behalf of egypt to u.s. senators to release aid and lobbied to help egypt build a dam over the nile river. menendez insists he was not a foreign agent and that he is innocent. there was in new poll that found 70% of voters here in new jersey believe that he should resign immediately. it's more than 30 senate democrat senators are saying he should also step down. but the senate majority leader chuck schumer has not said a word about whether he should resign. he hasn't said he should at all, harris. we expect him to be arraigned on the new charge at 3:00 p.m. today. if found guilty he could face up to 50 years behind bars. >> harris: thank you very much. we'll stay on that story. each week there are new charges against him. all around new york city posters are the hostages taken by the hamas monsters are plastered just about everywhere. street corners, subway station, construction sites. as quickly as they are going up, people are tearing them down and can often lead to ugly confrontations. the israeli artists say every person on those posters deserve to go home. they join me now. welcome to you both. i want to explain to our audience that you are an anonymous artist. first of all, tell me about putting these posters. they're beautiful. you have seen many of these faces because we have been covering and saying people's names. why did you do this? >> well, as soon as we heard about all the news in israel after this horrified saturday two weeks ago and we knew we have to do something, we have to put the message out there and raise awareness about the situation. horrible situation. >> harris: you live here? >> we came to new york, both my son and me about a month ago, just over the month. we were on our way to do an art program. we didn't expect anything like that to happen. >> harris: you were there for an art program ahead of the october 7th attacks and you have stayed now to do this. what does it do to your heart when you see people tearing these down? >> look at these this poster, for example. this is a 9-month-old boy. when a person is ripping apart this baby's face he thinks he is tearing down the entire jewish or israely entity. he does not realize that this baby is a real human being. it is not fake. this baby is right now probably in a very dark room held by hamas with guns pointed to who knows -- i can't even describe how i feel about this baby being held kidnapped by hamas. >> harris: when i look through these, i think there are 222 that you have come up with and the new number now from hamas is 300. that is twice that they have increased the number of people they say they have taken. i know some of that is propaganda to scare the world but we know there are at least 222 because their posters are around new york. are you personally putting up these posters? >> we started that the day after the war started and we actually posted 2,000 of those posters. we created them with our designer friend. she sits in israel and her design studio is under attack of missiles all the time. she is working from there and we are responsible to do it from here. so i can't even tell you how terrible that day was when we started this campaign. >> harris: you were quick to get names and pictures. how did you do that? >> in the beginning we knew we had to act very fast. we asked on social media for people to send us photos and names of people that have been kidnapped. >> harris: or thought they had. >> or thought to be kidnapped. we knew we had to go outside right away and have to put it. we designed the poster to be presented outdoors. only later we started talking with the families and getting the real stats and names. >> harris: thank you both for what you are doing on behalf of those people missing. god bless you both. thank you. thank you for watching "the faulkner focus." "outnumbered" next. upfront for your appraisal and other fees. not at newday. a veteran shouldn't have to come up with money to get money.
