they sing "why can't we be friends" they sing so many songs you know. a little funk, a little soul. can i kind of hear in some of their songs it sounds like a little reggae. great sounds. and, steve, you grew up with them. >> steve: i did. got started in the 1960s in long beach, california. as we heard, they are expecting tropical storm conditions out there. >> ainsley: that's right. >> steve: they are here in new york today where we have got essentially a frog strangler outside because it is really coming down. and we're hoping the rain stops the next 20 minutes so we can go outside for the big show. >> griff: you were a d.j. are there photos to go along with this? >> steve: me. i had a lot of hair back then. like a helmet. it was a lot of hair. we will leave it at that i will get a picture of me during those days and we will show it in one hour. >> kathy, if you are watching and i know you are. >> not those pictures. >> ainsley: yes. >> it is 7:01 on the east coast. it's a friday. we are all in a good mood. president biden is meeting with japan's prime minister and south korea's president today at camp david. >> steve: but all eyes remain on his son hunter biden after a federal judge yesterday dismissed his misdemeanor tax charges. and republicans work to uncover biden's alleged involvement in hunter's overseas business dealings who he has spoken of many times with our next correspondent. >> griff: peter doocy is live from the white house. hey, peter. happy friday. >> happy friday. president biden is waking up at camp david. is he going to have limited press availability later on with the leaders of japan and south korea. and maybe somebody out in the crowd will ask about the latest lawsuit. it was filed against the cia by judicial watch. they want records that have going to help figure out how they quickly at the cia cleared that now infamous letter signed by 50-plus intel officials who all insisted hunter biden's atlanta was russian disinformation. something that we now know is not true. and something that a majority of voters think shows laws being broken. the new fox poll shows 50% think hunter's business dealings were illegal. 36% say unethical. and we are still learning a lot about how then vice president biden's office operated as the house oversight committee says they found joe biden's private email alias robert l. peters. you i believe one reason hunter was c.c.ed on emails he was using a fake name so hunter could prove to the ukrainian oligarch help was on the way. who do you think they were referring to when they were talking to hunter biden who they said was dumber than their dogs, drug addict and had no experience. we need help from washington. who do you think they were talking about? a lot of this was litigated a decade ago. the obama-biden spokesman explained at the time that aliases are common place and he explained why. >> if they are inundated in one account with either public emails or spam, they can continue to use their other account for normal work. >> peter: if someone using email alias like vice president biden apparently did, those emails are still subject to foia. if he was trying to hide something he would essentially be hiding it in plain sight, at least in this case. back to you. >> steve: right. and 9 way i read the story, peter, it was also a federal government agency website. so it's not like, you know, he was doing anything off the books. but, don't a lot of people in d.c. do this? >> peter: yeah. as i understand it, just about everybody -- everybody's boss in d.c., all the elected officials have son-in-law version of this. and there is a wide range, when it comes to alias stories. it's -- this is not like a private account outside a server where your name is carlos danger. >> steve: good point. >> peter: which was around the same time of this. they have very plain names that nobody would think to pick out if they got email directory of a whole office. >> steve: peter, why did it take oversight committee eight months to figure out a no-brainer? >> peter: that's a great question. they say they will explain it as they get the info. so, we will wait for that. >> steve: one other thing, peter, we have asked you a million times where hunter biden lives. because it looks like he lives there "the washington post" came out with something overnight. >> peter: yeah. they had an item that after the plea deal that just fell apart was initially announced hunter biden his wife and their son came and stayed at the white house for about two weeks. and "the washington post" is also reporting overnight that the day the deal was falling apart, biden aides built a bunch of time into his schedule so that he could keep track of what was going on in wilmington. they also apparently, according to this report, made a conscience effort to keep president biden away from the press. they did not want him exposed at all at any kind of event that whole day because they didn't want him reacting to something before they had time. and he still has not reacted to the appointment of a special counsel or the elevation of david weiss as a special counsel to look into his son's -- allegations of his son's wrongdoing. >> ainsley: they also say they are glad they kept his schedule open that day on july 26th because the plea deal collapsed prolonging hunter's legal issues. particular concern in the west wing that day because first lady jill biden was traveling out of the country leaving the president without his primary source of support. >> steve: so the white house made a concerted effort to keep him away from the press and then when you came back from maternity leave a week ago, he sees you. he waives you over. and had you to jump over a bike rack. and i would imagine the white house is going what is happening? we're trying to keep those guys away from him. >> peter: well, it's their whole job to control the message. sometimes he wants to get the word out. that's why -- >> ainsley: when he says no i want to talk to peter doocy. they have to let them. >> steve: i need to tell somebody they have got a lousy question. >> peter: there is a lot of that going around. >> steve: thank you, peter. >> ainsley: i loved that image one leg over the bike rack and then you put it back and then he waived you over and you hurdled the fence. >> griff: peter does such a great job of trying to figure out the situation because the secret service is sort of facilitating things. but when you are the big guy and you wave a guy over, you are going to let him come through. didn't like that question. it will be interesting to see if president biden has anything to say today. >> steve: indeed. in the meantime, the "new york times" had a story that is, i'm sure it's caused some embarrassment with the desantis camp. axiom strategies a company owned by jeff roe who is the chief strategist of ron desantis super pac, never back down posted online essentially blunt advice for ron desantis to use of the presidential debate that's going to be coming up on wednesday on fox. the reason, you know, they cannot have -- a super pac cannot directly coordinate with a campaign. so, sometimes, they post stuff on line because they know that people will look online. well, it turns out kind of dangerous because somebody quacked the "new york times" and said hey, look. we know exactly what ron desantis should be doing according to super pac at the fox debate. >> super pac has hundreds of pages of memos, advice, internal polling. here are some of the debate strategies that they want ron desantis to see. attack joe biden and the media at the debate. state positive vision for america. take a sledge ham tore vivek ramaswamy. they say because he is a newcomer and he is rising in a the polls and defend donald trump from chris christie's inevitable attacks. it says attack joe biden and the media no less than three to five times. >> griff: back up for one second. the golden rule of debate prep is don't give away what you are going to say in the debate. >> steve: right. >> griff: , this as steve points out. the campaign rules against coordinating between the super pac and candidate. can't do that. it's a no, no. they do post it not quite so glaringly in this case. >> steve: it's crazy. here's the problem with what they have done. now, when tens of -- tens of millions of people are watching on wednesday night for the fox debate. now every time ron desantis is going to answer a question, people are going to go that was scripted. i bet that was scripted. it's great for vivek ramaswamy and great for chris christie because they now know the game plan against him, according to the super pac. so you have got to figure that they are both preening a comeback so that after ron desantis does something, say he attacks chris christie as the memo details, chris christie is probably going to turn toward ron desantis and say okay, governor, is that your thought or is that just your super pac talking? >> ainsley: you are right. listen, we expect them go after each other. especially the ones who are maybe coming from behind. they are going to attack the people up -- you know, rising in the polls and at the top of the list. we expect that if donald trump does participate is he going to go after ron desantis. maybe he will go after vivek because is he rising in the polls. that's what they do. they attack each other. >> steve: with a sledge hammer. >> ainsley: a little vague though. attack with a sledge hammer does it stay this is how do you that this is what you say. >> griff: look at the recent polling put out. desantis descrond 6 points. vivek gained 6 points. then they did who would be your second choice? desantis was on top but vivek went from zero to 22%. and in politics we call that catching lightning in a bottle. so now you have got vivek getting acknowledgment of his lightning in a bottle and yet he gets to respond to the memo. here's what he said yesterday. listen. >> i think the g.o.p. sometimes when you have professional politicians they use attacks on other candidates as a substitute for a message of their own. i'm in this race focused on the message of my own rather than attacking those other candidates. the truth is i'm an outsider. i'm not a professional politician. i think we have a choice between super pac puppets who are being propped up with prepped lines and millions of dollars to go along with it. versus, in my case, i'm an outsider. i think of myself as a patriot who speaks the truth. so i do think that's threatening to a number of other candidates in this race. but, the reality is i'm not focused on them. i'm focused on what we actually stand for. >> steve: i think there is a real good possibility that if donald trump does not come, vivek could actually be the breakout star and we were talking about that yesterday at the debate. but, you know, and by the way, donald trump did decide not to do that press conference 11:00 on monday in bedminster. he said the lawyers say it's not a good idea. so i think he could still be thinking about it. i just know that, you know, having all of us seeing him for and he used to come on this show so we have known him for 10 years or so. if he is sitting at his place in bedminster, and the former president is watching the television show where ron desantis and chris christie are talking about him and chris christie takes him apart as chris christie will probably do. whoever the strategist was told donald trump don't show up, i i think that guy is going to be in trouble. ultimately the former president wants to be on the stage. wants to be the center of attention and would have to be there. >> ainsley: he has to sign that rnc pac that i will support whoever is the nominee. >> steve: i read something yesterday the rnc thinks he actually would. >> ainsley: he is ahead by 30 or 40 points in every poll. >> steve: going to be a big show. it's the official launch of the big campaign. he ought to be there. >> griff: official is launch abby hornacek milking cows at the iowa state fair. already gotten under underway. >> ainsley: very important fair. >> griff: hey, abby, are you milking any morikawas out there?
