tonight. >> big tech censorship strikes again, youtube holds a music video that criticize biden's withdrawal from afghanistan youtube is saying sorry but is it too little too late? alicia: more than 300,000 chicago studentstudents won't se week in school as a fight between the city and the teachers union boils over the head of the teachers union is digging in claiming remote learning is a good option for kids. >> it's talking point, an idea, remote is bad. remote education as a tool teachers view remote education, not as good as in person but think about in the past chicago in the wintertime in the past if there's a blizzard to option old school during blizzard in which case you know most people are going to come is good to be dangerous to get there or you could cancel school, those the only two options. now we have a third option we can hold school remotely. alicia: chicago's public schools got $2.8 billion from the federal government to help schools reopen safely. the district is already spent tens of millions of dollars on safety equipment but the teachers union wants were to be done. also today as we wait to hear the decision from the supreme court about biden's vaccine mandate, the cdc director is daunting questions about the false claim from supreme court justice said during oral arguments at 100,000 kids are hospitalized because of covid. >> from friday suggest fewer than 3500 current pediatric hospitalizations from covid-19, is that true? >> yeah, here's what i tell you about our pediatric hospitalizations, the vast majority of children in the hospital are unvaccinated. >> understood but number is not 100,000 is roughly 3500 and hospitals. >> yes. >> diesel is a responsibility of the cdc director to correct a big mischaracterization by the supreme court justice. >> what my responsibility is is to provide guidance and recommendation to protect the emerging people. those recommendations strongly recommend vaccination for children above the age of five and everyone above the age of 18 if eligible. alicia: we have a lot to get to on this topic, guy i'm going to start with you. i want to go back to the chicago's teachers union president said at the very top about this idea that remote learning is bad, it's just a talking point let's go to numbers there out of california but we see this all of our the country these are numbers, assessment numbers coming out of california grades three through eight and 11. school year 202221 you can see 49% met the standard for english-language art, 33.8% in math. that is not good the numbers speak for themselves, this was during remote learning speaker if the teachers union boss made exactly the argument about the blizzard in chicago and the old options of years past back in april of 2020 maybe we would say that's an unreasonable thing to assert and appoint to bring up but at this stage of the pandemic given everything that we know an enormous amount of data, a lot of experience on the ground across the whole country in the world we know that virtual learning has been for millions of students a failure into force students back into virtual learning for absolutely no scientifically defensible reason which is what the chicago teachers union is doing and other schools around the country following suit it is outrageous and completely indefensible. i would go so far to call it a child-abuse and i think it's important to know if your parents and policymakers you have union bosses who are seen as loudly as possible that they do not view their jobs educating children as a central. i think the parents of the policymakers should start believing them in the adjusting policy accordingly particular when it comes to school choice. this is disgusting. day four tomorrow without school in chicago. alicia: is terrible for all these families at home sitting there watching their kids and suffering from studies in anxiety level and the stresses and for students as well as parents. he really says something. don't you think that the mayor of chicago is really ticked off about this. take a listen. >> the chicago teachers union is an illegal walkout they abandoned their post and kids and their families and we spent hundreds of millions of dollars to make her school safe, they are safe we have the data to demonstrate that and we've got to get the teachers union to get real and get serious. alicia: they had the money, the vaccine, there's masks, what more is going to take. jimmy: it takes me a lot to side with lori lightfoot. i put her added nine on a scale of bill de blasio, she is right and this is shameless on the teachers union to make a comparison to a snow day or a blizzard. were not talking about snow weeks and to be clear a snow day is an act of god this is an active teachers union brigade in its own snowmachine and snowing these kids out of the classroom despite the fact that every available piece of data that we have tells us kids are not only better off in the classroom physically but academically there's no comparison. my wife is a teacher and she wants to be in the classroom it's the union giving teachers a bad reputation but if you look at the data we know the reason they call it remote learning because most kids are using the remote to watch tv when they should be engaging in the content. it drives me crazy is a parent, this is not a republican point, this is not me this or just kids every kid being veiled mother liberal or republican or libertarian and i voted for kanye west, all kids are being screwed. alicia: lease i've got to bring you when i want to hear from your governor ron desantis on keeping schools open and why florida is moving forward. >> we let on education not just crt and having schools open but school twice we have more school choice and charter schools and private scholarships and anybody in the country. when people see that parents get really excited and some of these other states. as you said there hopeless in some of these parts. if your under the thumb of one of the really strong unions in the school district as a parent who is more freedom oriented, you have no shot with any change because the union owns a policy lock stock and barrel. alicia: you want to see the full interview with ron desantis coming up at 8:00 p.m. eastern on life, liberty and the been. back to you parents after all of us are really trying to take back the power. >> it's never happened in florida governor desantis chapter schools open and the reason he did he was looking at the data he wasn't looking at public opinion polls he was looking at the right decision at the time and he thought the public opinion followed. it has. if you look at lori lightfoot now defined teachers union and trying to keep schools open that's where ron desantis has been from the beginning. he was making the right decision. there's another clip i want to talk about from the interview with the cdc director when he questioned her about what percentage and how many 836,000 deaths from covid were from covid versus with covid. she cannot answer that question. with more than 21000 full-time employees at the cdc, why don't we know the answer, why can't she answer that question we solid throughout this pandemic with every new screen across america we sell the media public health officials pushing the fear think of all the decisions that were based off of the number, were talking about livelihoods in suicide, overdoses and an economy that's been damaged, kids that are far behind in schools, all the collateral damage and we still cannot answer these numbers because we don't want to it if someone is questioning these narratives from the beginning it is good to see people finally coming around and get some of this honesty but why did it take so long. >> i was glad to see that question asked by bret baier, it's a really important question as we adjust on the show yesterday we were talking about hospitalization numbers and the power long last allowing us to openly discuss the distinction when it comes hospitalization. there's also questions about deaths how many were caused, 830 plus thousand in america alone which is horrible how many of those were caused by the virus and how many were partially due to the virus and how many were mostly or completely incidental. that will help us get a better picture and better public policy and here we are two years into this nightmare and the cdc director does not have the numbers at her fingertips to actually address that and see the data is forthcoming. lisa: there has been people in the media and out there in scientist who almost lost their jobs there's been scientists were ostracized from society and the medical society people had professional harm and tried asking these questions why were we not allowed before or dismissed why were we condemned, why were these questions asked earlier how have we not arrived at this truth in this point. >> this inaccurate data or a lack of a willingness to be forthright with people as rochelle walensky demonstrated today, she's not looking to protect the american people, she's looking to protect supreme justice sotomayor of how egregious the lie was. again all of the data right now is being used to deny kids in places like chicago to in person learning, i'm just telling you is apparent i can't emphasize this enough on the air we are screen over little kids they cannot stay engaged and content on zoom for six hours a day adults cannot stay in the content for
