democrat senator joe manchin, squashing a vote for the bill back better plan. before the senate went on holiday break hoping to strike some sort of deal would bring inflation down center manchin republican say it would drive prices up even more. too who's got it right? here to discuss it democrat strategist laura fink, frances newton stacy. let's start with american things according to new 46% said biden social spending bill are the 46%. >> it's a little more complex than that. all this additional spending both on the fiscal and the monetary side purchasing assets on the balance sheet has created a lot of money and circulating of the money against is exacerbated when creeds. moving forward solution is not to cut off all additional money. while few people know this there are mechanical things they're not political debt service we have to service a record amount of debt takes money out the circulation we pay off the principal of that debt that comes off the ledger. i threw the money supply goes off for that money supply. there is a magical number pre-want to keep spending. unfortunately this is so politicized will not reduce inflation necessarily but will reduce through inflation is the fed is going to taper its asset purchases that's the catalyst. fiscal spending with or without "build back better" and less money coming in over a longer period of time will is a very challenging for the fed is very challenging for lawmakers you want to get rid of this trajectory of inflation but you do not want to cut that money supply office so hard to have a liquidity problem. >> let me bring laura in now. laura clearly what happened is the president did not make the sales using expression business people use. he did not make the sale but the "build back better" plan when actually lower inflation he did not make it to joe manchin i most americans don't believe that either but how does he make that sale in 2022? >> i think it will make itself you'll see inflationary pressures decrease as mcauley would suggest to be pandemic driven. over time they would decrease more than a baker's dozen of nobel prize-winning economist agree with that sentiment and say the bill the back better plan, which joe manchin did reject putting a big lump of west virginia call in all of america stocking, they suggest overtime for two reasons "build back better" it will not contribute to inflation and could reduce it. one is over ten years this is spending over ten years is not a stimulus that is different. and two, it is a paid for by taxes. we want to make sure jeff base no space a tax bill at some point and elon musk. those are the things that essentially make it more of a tax code more fair for americans work pressures like childcare, like prescription drug cross that's extra money in american's pockets that's a good thing. 360 note francis that's it the present he says going to cause zero, zero it's hard for americans to get -- wrap their head around multi- chilean dollars spending plan will cause zero and secondly that it's paid for. something even the cvo which is a nonpartisan organization congress says is not possible. that sale is not made either. >> is not going to cost zero the american rescue plan is not going to cause zero all the money the fed is added to the balance sheet is not going to cause zero. our debt to gdp has now exceeded one 100% which means we owe more than we are growing. that is going to have to result in raising taxes and raising taxes is going to cost more. furthermore inflation is the tax on the middle class. the less you make in the price increases couch the middle class more and more. that is also heavily politicized. >> let me bring laura back in. inflation is a terrible tax it is a it's the middle class and lower class worse they can afford to pay the rich don't much care about even though they are concerned about as well what happens if it doesn't? the facts show something different. was a wholesale prices in november go up by almost double digits 9.6%. the wholesale prices are eventually passed on. that's the price the whole seller pay eventually the retailers but that extra price on the shelves. when consumers go to buy it so that it's going to pass on to consumers. that means inflation is accelerating, laura. >> it also means corporations are charging and marking up over and above the wholesale cost, david, which is also a challenge. why? the going to continue to pay those prices. david: they are paying more, they are paying more and there is competition, laura. that's the wonder of our system it's you do have, excuse me, you do have in a private sector you have a lot of different competitors. they have to compete on price. you're saying that's not happening at all then? >> that's not always true that's not always too busy bottlenecks in the price like all of the meatpackers. david: what would you do to stop that? parts of >>'s original question the issue with inflation impacting pocketbook spread or long-term structural change taxing the wealthy make it through the middle class gets a tax cut helps. three and half million women early silent out of the economy that's not just economic growth the fact "build back better" cause goldman sach's to reduce the gdp by a full percentage point last year. we need things like human infrastructure to make sure americans can get back to work. david: let me just ask you do you think? let me send it back to francis then. the fact is we have now an economy that's growing at 2.3%. it is a slow growth economy with higher inflation. the worst possible combination of things. that causes low growth with higher inflation. is that what we are looking at in 2022? >> yes and potentially. the thing about it where you are right is -- inflation is probably going to peek at its rate of an when i mentioned earlier the fiscal spending coming in more slowly the monetary asset purchases that is being tapered it's being taken away. when it decelerates which market participants are looking for, it means that grows less fast which mean price increases do continue to go higher for the consumer. that is going to happen for quite some time. you are absolutely right about growth. david: ladies, i'm sorry we literally run out of time. we'll see more of you coming up later in the program. worries about government spending the concern about omicron cases surging with millions of americans gathering for the holidays. what are the best ways to protect ourselves? here's some advice doctor bob. great to see you, happy holidays, merry christmas what are some the best ways to keep safe during the holiday gatherings? >> omicron is seven times more transmissive. if you are at a holiday party or a family dinner today and you have someone who is nonvaccinated, they are either going to get the oma kroner already have the omicron can give to everybody else. so my advice everyone check on vaccination status number one. number two. a christmas party today he to make sure the people you are with ourur vaccinated and hopefully boosted. booster shot works against the omicron variant. fortunately the omicron variant can vary from person to person. we can have people over 65, grandparents who are with you today on christmas day and they may have, they may get omicron and make it very sick. david: the goodness is we have therapeutics we did not have, the monoclonal antibody treatment may work or may not work but we have these new pills one from pfizer one from mark that we were given approval for. if you do get sick we are better prepared to deal with that. >> yes we are. they are not going to be ready yet. there's emergency use authorization there's a lot of production that has happened before i can write a prescription for my patient with those pills. a lot of production has to happen that's probably not going to happen until later on in january maybe even february. so they are christmas gifts to us for sure. those levels are running low. we are really rationing the monoclonal. david: i've heard that. i want to talk about the future. we had an amazing switcheroo in australia which is been very hard to lock down and the mandate. they did an about-face on this. the prime minister didn't he took it very different tact would have his advice might work over here roll tape. >> have got to get past the heavy hand of government we've got to move, from a culture of mandate to a culture of responsibility. that's how we live with this virus in the future. david: doctor you'll have about 15 seconds with that advice work over here? >> i think that is great advice. that is something we should do. we have to rely on the intelligent and common sense of people rather than forcing them to get the vaccine and forcing them to wear masks. they need to be informed that it is dangerous for everyone not to do that. not to follow guidelines. david: that is one thing we learned in this pandemic is freedom works better than mandates. hopefully we will see more of that, freedom, over here. doctor great to see you happy holidays to you. thanks much for being here appreciate it. kentucky residents kentucky, steve joins us now. steve thank you for coming in. that's hard enough to celebrate christmas while covid is in our midst but to celebrate christmas with covid, without your house, that is a special kind of hurt is in it? >> it really is. i have seen a kind of devastation struggling to get back to some sense of normalcy. they have doctors appointments was an unbelievable amount of devastation. as an unbelievable amount of compassionate hope and caring. i've seen the church members served coffee and a destroyed church to members of the community that were helping clean up my neighbor. through all of this i really have gotten the meaning of christmas. it is about caring. that is left alive and well and mayfield, kentucky. those folks have been devastated there's hope omicron might not be as devastating to your health as an adult it was but spreads like wildfire to see it spreading their admits the devastation? >> i have not they were taking safety precautions we a designation from a red cross perspective from this set of tornadoes that we had. remember this at least the kentucky standpoint, one set 165 miles. the devastation is pretty significant. david: it is just unbelievable how long do you think is going to take are we talking years or months here? >> it is years i don't even want to put a number on it and as if the whole town is been wiped off the it was trying to leave the kabul airport. lawmakers on both side of the aisle calling at present bite is biggest blunder so far. we're hearing a lot more american citizens were left behind than previously thought bridge or tomatoes former uss cole commander kirk. commander, that image is an iconic image that i show. it is the 13 americans and the hundreds of afghans killed by the suicide bomber that stick in the minds and hearts of so many thousands of american service people who served in afghanistan. i can think of one close to my heart, my own stepson. how do you purge that memory from their souls? >> well david, first merry christmas thank you for having me on, especially on a day like today breed the reality is that type of infliction of pain is never going to go away. it's going to be part of the fabric of the individual lives that were affected by this and the fabric of the nation itself. how we chose to withdrawal from afghanistan is a true tragedy. and while i think many of the troops today are grateful to be home with their families, everyone that serves, does so knowing they make sacrifices that allow them to go out and keep this nation safe. if they were given a choice between serving today over in afghanistan, or being home with their families and there's a we can be attacked again in the future bite terrorist elements like al qaeda, supported by the taliban, supported by pakistan that is going to be the true danger we are facing. i think that for many of these people, be careful what you ask for you might get it. the taliban won a government in afghanistan. they took over the country now unfortunately were seeing people go through abject failure of their inability to run a country. david: and of course they're still americans there. their private groups. in fact one private group, project dynamo a magnificent group of mostly former service people who are getting people out. we had in the past couple of weeks 39 individuals either u.s. citizens or permanent u.s. residents get out of afghanistan despite the promise we had from the president four months ago that u.s. troops would not leave before every american got out. that also sticks in the craw of a lot of service people who were over in afghanistan. >> you are absolutely right. when you look at its a true tragedy we left americans behind and the u.s. government was not exactly straightforward with the american people. once again it's a failure by the by the administration either they didn't know or did not want to know exactly how many americans were there because that would drive home accountability. they are the accountable government right now. and unfortunately with american still there whether by choice or not it's our duty to make sure they have the opportunity to get out and i don't think they did i think we pulled out so quickly we pulled in and collapsed down kabul and then collapsed into the airport when we had an opportunity to have a more orderly withdrawal and chose not too. i think it's going to be incumbent upon us and those americans who served to ensure our government gets those americans out as well as those afghans who risked their lives in that country to ensure our people stayed safe. that is they thousands that. david: thousands of those afghan allies that were left behind. finally how much more dangerous is afghanistan now not only to the afghan people but to the whole world? >> i think right now afghanistan, while it may not be a clearing present danger i guarantee in the future given the government with the taliban that's there, given their ties to al qaeda and given the fact they stoned to strike at the heart of america they are going to be a danger in the future that we are going to have to watch. they went international recognition. with that comes a responsibility to ensure the terrorist operations never come out of that country. that means they do not have safe haven to recruit, to train, to democrat senator joe manchin, squashing a vote for the bill back better plan. before the senate went on holiday break hoping to strike some sort of deal would bring inflation down center manchin republican say it would drive prices up even more. too who's got it right? here to discuss it democrat strategist laura fink, frances newton stacy. let's start with american things according to new 46% said biden social spending bill are the 46%. >> it's a little more complex than that. all this additional spending both on the fiscal and the monetary side purchasing assets on the balance sheet has created a lot of money and circulating of the money against is exacerbated when creeds. moving forward solution is not to cut off all additional money. while few people know this there are mechanical things they're not political debt service we have to service a record amount of debt takes money out the circulation we pay off the principal of that debt that comes off the ledger. i threw the money supply goes off for that money supply. there is a magical number pre-want to keep spending. unfortunately this is so politicized will not reduce inflation necessarily but will reduce through inflation is the fed is going to taper its asset purchases that's the catalyst. fiscal spending with or without "build back better" and less money coming in over a longer period of time will is a very challenging for the fed is very challenging for lawmakers you want to get rid of this trajectory of inflation but you do not want to cut that money supply office so hard to have a liquidity problem. >> let me bring laura in now. laura clearly what happened is the president did not make the sales using expression business people use. he did not make the sale but the "build back better" plan when actually lower inflation he did not make it to joe manchin i most americans don't believe that either but how does he make that sale in 2022? >> i think it will make itself you'll see inflationary pressures decrease as mcauley would suggest to be pandemic driven. over time they would decrease more than a baker's dozen of nobel prize-winning economist agree with that sentiment and say the bill the back better plan, which joe manchin did reject putting a big lump of west virginia call in all of america stocking, they suggest overtime for two reasons "build back better" it will not contribute to inflation and could reduce it. one is over ten years this is spending over ten years is not a stimulus that is different. and two, it is a paid for by taxes. we want to make sure jeff base no space a tax bill at some point and elon musk. those are the things that essentially make it more of a tax code more fair for americans work pressures like childcare, like prescription drug cross that's extra money in american's pockets that's a good thing. 360 note francis that's it the present he says going to cause zero, zero it's hard for americans to get -- wrap their head around multi- chilean dollars spending plan will cause zero and secondly that it's paid for. something even the cvo which is a nonpartisan organization congress says is not possible. that sale is not made either. >> is not going to cost zero the american rescue plan is not going to cause zero all the money the fed is added to the balance sheet is not going to cause zero. our debt to gdp has now exceeded one 100% which means we owe more than we are growing. that is going to have to result in raising taxes and raising taxes is going to cost more. furthermore inflation is the tax on the middle class. the less you make in the price increases couch the middle class more and more. that is also heavily politicized. >> let me bring laura back in. inflation is a terrible tax it is a it's the middle class and lower class worse they can afford to pay the rich don't much care about even though they are concerned about as well what happens if it doesn't? the facts show something different. was a wholesale prices in november go up by almost double digits 9.6%. the wholesale prices are eventually passed on. that's the price the whole seller pay eventually the retailers but that extra price on the shelves. when consumers go to buy it so that it's going to pass on to consumers. that means inflation is accelerating, laura. >> it also means corporations are charging and marking up over and above the wholesale cost, david, which is also a challenge. why? the going to continue to pay those prices. david: they are paying more, they are paying more and there is competition, laura. that's the wonder of our system it's you do have, excuse me, you do have in a private sector you have a lot of different competitors. they have to compete on price. you're saying that's not happening at all then? >> that's not always true that's not always too busy bottlenecks in the price like all of the meatpackers. david: what would you do to stop that? parts of >>'s original question the issue with inflation impacting pocketbook spread or long-term structural change taxing the wealthy make it through the middle class gets a tax cut helps. three and half million women early silent out of the economy that's not just economic growth the fact "build back better" cause goldman sach's to reduce the gdp by a full percentage point last year. we need things like human infrastructure to make sure americans can get back to work. david: let me just ask you do you think? let me send it back to francis then. the fact is we have now an economy that's growing at 2.3%. it is a slow growth economy with higher inflation. the worst possible combination of things. that causes low growth with higher inflation. is that what we are looking at in 2022? >> yes and potentially. the thing about it where you are right is -- inflation is probably going to peek at its rate of an when i mentioned earlier the fiscal spending coming in more slowly the monetary asset purchases that is being tapered it's being taken away. when it decelerates which market participants are looking for, it means that grows less fast which mean price increases do continue to go higher for the consumer. that is going to happen for quite some time. you are absolutely right about growth. david: ladies, i'm sorry we literally run out of time. we'll see more of you coming up later in the program. worries about government spending the concern about omicron cases surging with millions of americans gathering for the holidays. what are the best ways to protect ourselves? here's some advice doctor bob. great to see you, happy holidays, merry christmas what are some the best ways to keep safe during the holiday gatherings? >> omicron is seven times more transmissive. if you are at a holiday party or a family dinner today and you have someone who is nonvaccinated, they are either going to get the oma kroner already have the omicron can give to everybody else. so my advice everyone check on vaccination status number one. number two. a christmas party today he to make sure the people you are with ourur vaccinated and hopefully boosted. booster shot works against the omicron variant. fortunately the omicron variant can vary from person to person. we can have people over 65, grandparents who are with you today on christmas day and they may have, they may get omicron and make it very sick. david: the goodness is we have therapeutics we did not have, the monoclonal antibody treatment may work or may not work but we have these new pills one from pfizer one from mark that we were given approval for. if you do get sick we are better prepared to deal with that. >> yes we are. they are not going to be ready yet. there's emergency use authorization there's a lot of production that has happened before i can write a prescription for my patient with those pills. a lot of production has to happen that's probably not going to happen until later on in january maybe even february. so they are christmas gifts to us for sure. those levels are running low. we are really rationing the monoclonal. david: i've heard that. i want to talk about the future. we had an amazing switcheroo in australia which is been very hard to lock down and the mandate. they did an about-face on this. the prime minister didn't he took it very different tact would have his advice might work over here roll tape. >> have got to get past the heavy hand of government we've got to move, from a culture of mandate to a culture of responsibility. that's how we live with this virus in the future. david: doctor you'll have about 15 seconds with that advice work over here? >> i think that is great advice. that is something we should do. we have to rely on the intelligent and common sense of people rather than forcing them to get the vaccine and forcing them to wear masks. they need to be informed that it is dangerous for everyone not to do that. not to follow guidelines. david: that is one thing we learned in this pandemic is freedom works better than mandates. hopefully we will see more of that, freedom, over here. doctor great to see you happy holidays to you. thanks much for being here appreciate it. kentucky residents are searching for help this christmas as they pick up the pieces from those deadly tornadoes that hit the state. one organization is stepping up too help out, that is next. it shortens colds! zicam. zinc that cold! most bladder leak pads were similar. until always discreet invented a pad that protects differently. with two rapiddry layers. for strong protection, that's always discreet. question your protection. try always discreet. i'm here to present the facts. thousands of people and small businesses are trapped paying too much for wireless and still paying off their phone! but when you switch to t-mobile they will pay off your phone so you can keep your current number and your phone! objection! what if you bought your phone at at&t or verizon? t-mobile will pay it off! switch to t-mobile and we'll pay off your phone. now up to a thousand bucks. do you rest? i do - but t-mobile never rests. david: many kentucky residents are spreading this christmas coping with the damage the face of massive tornadoes at her earlier this month for my next guest and his team have been working tirelessly to help with relief efforts for victims there. regional ceo of the american red cross in kentucky, steve joins us now. steve thank you for coming in. that's hard enough to celebrate christmas while covid is in our midst but to celebrate christmas with covid, without your house, that is a special kind of hurt is in it? >> it really is. i have seen a kind of devastation struggling to get back to some sense of normalcy. they have doctors appointments was an unbelievable amount of devastation. as an unbelievable amount of compassionate hope and caring. i've seen the church members served coffee and a destroyed church to members of the community that were helping clean up predicting a father and his teenage son going to the town commons and mayfield, kentucky and cleaning up. i've seen a 7-year-old boy come to us and say he wanted to help. he holds out his hands with three pennies and says this is all i have but will this help? i have seen countless folks say to us as we approach the really significantly damaged houses and say don't help me first, please go help my neighbor. through all of this i really have gotten the meaning of christmas. it is about caring. that is left alive and well and mayfield, kentucky. those folks have been devastated there's hope and they believe. >> you use that one word, hope. if there's ever one word meaning of christmas you defined it with that one word of hope. i am just wondering i mentioned covid. his covid a problem? omicron might not be as devastating to your health as an adult it was but spreads like wildfire to see it spreading their admits the devastation? >> i have not they were taking safety precautions we have folks and non- congregate shelters they are in hotel rooms there in the national parks. we have about 1200 folks now that are displaced from their homes. that is a significant amount. we are taking safety precautions. >> supply chain issues bothers all americans must be of particular significance of the folks trying to rebuild and you cannot get the materials you need to rebuild with, right? >> i see that with things like lumber, things like labor that folks are starting this process. they are looking for guidance. they are looking for help. they are trying to experience some of that. >> how about insurance? i know the federal government is kicking in, the state government and the red cross. but insurance is kicking in as well? >> i see folks are my experience on the ground a lot of people do not have insurance. they really need the help they need the help from a nonprofit perspective. that process is going on right now and they're working through that. david: i know we can help the red cross i have to ask this question, if i give specifically to the red cross before they turn it on victims, you make sure the money is targeted to those victims? >> yes david, there is a designation from a red cross perspective from this set of tornadoes that we had. remember this at least the kentucky standpoint, one set 165 miles. the devastation is pretty significant. david: it is just unbelievable how long do you think is going to take are we talking years or months here? >> it is years i don't even want to put a number on it and as if the whole town is been wiped off the map the economies gone the businesses are gone it's a long time. >> god bless you you're doing great work. thank you so much being there who need it most. have a merry christmas. it is possible even under the circumstances you reminded us thank you very much, steve,. >> david, thank you. david: after 20 years and more our home for the holidays but i was the region up after our chaotic withdrawal? >> things are coming when it comes to financial plan plans we can build on our own, or with help from a financial consultant? like schwab does. uhhh... could we adjust our plan... ...yeah, like if we buy a new house? mmmm... and our son just started working. oh! do you offer a complimentary retirement plan for him? as in free? just like schwab. schwab! look forward to planning with schwab. i may it was trying to leave the kabul airport. lawmakers on both side of the aisle calling at present bite is biggest blunder so far. we're hearing a lot more american citizens were left behind than previously thought bridge or tomatoes former uss cole commander kirk. commander, that image is an iconic image that i show. it is the 13 americans and the hundreds of afghans killed by the suicide bomber that stick in the minds and hearts of so many thousands of american service people who served in afghanistan. i can think of one close to my heart, my own stepson. how do you purge that memory from their souls? >> well david, first merry christmas thank you for having me on, especially on a day like today breed the reality is that type of infliction of pain is never going to go away. it's going to be part of the fabric of the individual lives that were affected by this and the fabric of the nation itself. how we chose to withdrawal from afghanistan is a true tragedy. and while i think many of the troops today are grateful to be home with their families, everyone that serves, does so knowing they make sacrifices that allow them to go out and keep this nation safe. if they were given a choice between serving today over in afghanistan, or being home with their families and there's a we can be attacked again in the future bite terrorist elements like al qaeda, supported by the taliban, supported by pakistan that is going to be the true danger we are facing. i think that for many of these people, be careful what you ask for you might get it. the taliban won a government in afghanistan. they took over the country now unfortunately were seeing people go through abject failure of their inability to run a country. david: and of course they're still americans there. their private groups. in fact one private group, project dynamo a magnificent group of mostly former service people who are getting people out. we had in the past couple of weeks 39 individuals either u.s. citizens or permanent u.s. residents get out of afghanistan despite the promise we had from the president four months ago that u.s. troops would not leave before every american got out. that also sticks in the craw of a lot of service people who were over in afghanistan. >> you are absolutely right. when you look at its a true tragedy we left americans behind and the u.s. government was not exactly straightforward with the american people. once again it's a failure by the by the administration either they didn't know or did not want to know exactly how many americans were there because that would drive home accountability. they are the accountable government right now. and unfortunately with american still there whether by choice or not it's our duty to make sure they have the opportunity to get out and i don't think they did i think we pulled out so quickly we pulled in and collapsed down kabul and then collapsed into the airport when we had an opportunity to have a more orderly withdrawal and chose not too. i think it's going to be incumbent upon us and those americans who served to ensure our government gets those americans out as well as those afghans who risked their lives in that country to ensure our people stayed safe. that is they thousands that. david: thousands of those afghan allies that were left behind. finally how much more dangerous is afghanistan now not only to the afghan people but to the whole world? >> i think right now afghanistan, while it may not be a clearing present danger i guarantee in the future given the government with the taliban that's there, given their ties to al qaeda and given the fact they stoned to strike at the heart of america they are going to be a danger in the future that we are going to have to watch. they went international recognition. with that comes a responsibility to ensure the terrorist operations never come out of that country. that means they do not have safe haven to recruit, to train, to finance, or to conduct terrorist operations anywhere in the world and that is what we need to make sure happens if we give them any kind of recognition in the future. david: commander, only ten seconds. are we going to be forced to send troops back into afghanistan when is your gut tell you, ten seconds. >> my gut tells her not going to send people that back there the taliban once legitimacy difficult market today. some big chains handle it and others don't. david: besides the problems of the pandemic and crime, we have this inflation and labor shortage to worry about. they are all related and we can get into that but the bottom line is last time we talked was a couple months ago, we had 10 million unfilled jobs, now we have 11 million unfilled jobs. what will it take to get people back to work? >> there needs to be a realization that the baby boomers are starting to retire and taking early retirement, they can't put up with what is going on. recruiting, training and management is changing radically. i have already seen it the last 12 months for companies like bite ninja, clocked in, and 25 others, platforms for managing people and reaching out but the other trend that is interesting, i don't know if it is good, bad or indifferent, but there's a lot of young people who have taken to to talk, youtube and those platforms and started businesses as influencers and gamers engaging people how to do things. i went to dinner lastly with a fellow who decided to start a t-shirt company doing custom-made t-shirts for people, very inexpensively, settle and $35 and he said it is better than being a graphic artist. there is a great seachange coming in the way people see work and how they go to work and all traditional ways of doing business are over. we've got to get more creative in the business world. david: an optimist way of looking at things. inflation is something, almost impossible to adapt to. that will drive people out of business. how much inflation is a result of the pandemic? and the labor shortages are result of bad policies? >> i lived through this in the 70s and 30s with carter and nixon and the rest of that. it is the same thing. the price of gasoline started it off. when you take $2,500, to $3,000 out of disposable income of a family going to work, that means cut down on a lot of other things. think about this. food away from home was $3,500 of the family's budget, you pay that much additional for gasoline, that causes jobs to deteriorate because we don't need servers in restaurants, don't need them in grocery stores and on top of that this trucking crisis, we don't have stuff to sell every day. amazing what is going on. it is bad policy. don't care what anybody says, bad policy. david: wholesale prices are almost 10%. that's what a lot of restaurants are dealing with so we may have double digit inflation. have a wonderful christmas, thank you for your expertise as always, pleasure to have you here. santa left a lot of of the recession. a lot of people thought i was nuts at the time of the reason i thought that is because people have reevaluated the importance of home, and because we have so much more equity in our home this time around. this has nothing to do, the perfect recession was a perfect storm. this is 100% different. we have low supply, high demand, builders encountering supply chain issues so they can't get products into the market. millennials who have entered the market to a degree that we always -- never expected before. prices skyrocketing. i do believe interest rates will increase into the specific on this. they go up as they do in 2021. >> they will continue to go up, prices will go up. >> supplies of new homes, lumber prices and labor costs are skyhigh, isn't it easier to buy an existing home. >> many sellers want to sell but they have nowhere to go. you do have empty nesters because they will downsize but the biggest challenge becomes where do they go, and the taxes get reassessed when you purchase a new home. if you are buying a new home you gain more taxes. people want to sell and don't know where to go and give and take, but i do believe more sellers put their
