school as terrified students barricaded themselves in classrooms and others ran for safety. at one point the gunmen could be heard trying to coax students out pretending to be law enforcement. >> it wasn't a real so we hit, very scary. >> i felt like it was 30 minutes or something, the police came and knocked on the door. >> reporter: police say the 15-year-old came to school armed with a semi automatic handgun allegedly purchased by his father four days before the fatal shooting. >> deputies removed from the suspect a 9 millimeters 6-hour sp 2022 pistol. it was loaded at the time and still and lost forever. brooks relief came despite soaring 6 out of 6 risk assessment for new criminal activity in a four out of 6 on a test evaluating likelihood he would miss his court appearance. of convicted the waukesha attack, a career criminal faces six life sentences. todd: be ghislaine maxwell trial beginning of heart-wrenching testimony about being abused by a socialite. facing federal charges including sex trafficking of a minor. going by the pseudonym jane the woman says she met epstein and maxwell where epstein is a benefactor for years. the abuse allegedly happening when that girl was 14 years old. jane claiming maxwell participated in the abuse more than twice, jane is one of four alleged victims in the indictment against maxwell, the first accuser to take the stand. carley: jussie smollett conducting a dry run of his attack the day before took place, the prosecution says the evidence is proof the empire actor hired his brothers to stage the ambush adding the brothers were -- wrote a check for $3,500 after the dry run and given $100 in cash for supplies. chicago detectives testifying against's jussie smollett for hours citing phone records and social media >> it would be much better. i'm not an economist, i do remember the basics when we have too many dollars chasing goods you have prices going up. that is what happened. the biden administration wrapped up, but a lot of new money into the economy in march. now they want to do even more and that has driven out prices. for some folks, these are marginal increases, that is an inconvenience. for folks living paycheck to paycheck, working families who have the budget to make ends meet price increase of hundreds of dollars a year can have a devastating impact on families. we wish we weren't here, self-inflicted wound caused by federal policy but we will try to help our people. todd: the impact the elite don't seem to understand. let's get your thoughts on this, federal judge blocking a biden vaccine mandate for healthcare workers nationwide. a federal court decision that carries a lot of weight. will president biden follow this and what happens if he doesn't? >> a slamdunk before the first word of the opening statement. there's a lot of evidence against jussie smollett and it begs the question a lot of people ask me wise jussie smollett going to trial with all the evidence against him, probably hoping one juror out of 12 will have sympathy for him and not pulled the trigger, maybe the reason for a hung jury but there's a lot of evidence against him and i'm wondering if an offer was made for a plea bargain but i'm not sure about that. todd: it seems to be the opposite of the case where the rittenhouse, we knew what the facts were but you have the prosecution and defense disagreeing on the facts was want to switch gears and go to wisconsin. a crucial transcript about the bail hearing damaged it forever. in our digital age how does this happen? >> happens more often than you think. a lot of these cases are handled in cases that outdated digital communication or ways to record the proceedings. if you are not projecting your voice or doing one of those things a lot of times you are not doing that. i'm not surprised by that at all. digging into this guy's history to see where the failures were, it is too little too late, the damage has been done. it doesn't matter what happened at a prior bail hearing but this side will never see the light of day, there's a $5 million bail. someone could post it which is scarier than anything that happened. >> the longtime pilot, at the ghislaine maxwell sex trafficking trial raising a lot of questions with regard to a former president. the lawyer asking former president bill clinton, flew on some of the flight, the pilot lawrence paul saying yes. you've been through this and understand how the court system works. anything happened to big-name reference to clinton on the stand? >> the big impetus for this case is there were big names attached to jeffrey epstein and this prosecution is politically motivated. no one likes to hear charges like sex trafficking and such but ghislaine maxwell's defense, falsely accused and she will present enough evidence to show this was a political hit job, she's a scapegoat and who cares about jeffrey epstein's pilot or who wrote on his plane, what does that have to do with the allegations against ghislaine maxwell? nothing. it is sensational and we will see more of that in this trial and talk about egregious. ghislaine maxwell is still sitting in jail but darrell brooks who could walk, talk about egregious, that is egregious. todd: fascinating comparison. a lot of big names in this trial. probably nothing happens but it is hellish is nonetheless. we appreciate your insight, thank you very much. carley: interesting perspectives. cnn anchor chris cuomo is off the air but is the network doing enough? >> not even close and months late because we knew about chris cuomo helping his brother not like helping his brother with a campaign to get reelected but the campaign was against incredible women who accuses brother of sexual harassment and chris cuomo was leading the charge in smearing some of these women. it is now obviously shown in those text messages because make no mistake chris cuomo is not an acre but a partisan activist and always has been and that is exposed in broad daylight so cnn had no choice but to suspend him. the backlash from the right, the left and everywhere in between made that impossible to ignore. he should have been outright fired and that should have happened months ago because he served as a political hitman in this case and lied on the air about the extent of the role he was playing. this was the one who once faked his own covid quarantine. is anyone surprised about that aspect? this suspension left the door open for him coming back. the same network brought back jeffrey tube and, after the self-serving manner that he conducted himself on that zoom call in front of female coworkers. will cuomo have a second act? we will see. rachel: the last couple days. cuomo - cuomo for a second. he doesn't seem to understand the severity of what he did. listen. >> i did not want them to resign in the beginning because i believed him, let do process take care of the situation. there wasn't going to be due process and his party was against him and the republicans weren't going to help him, he had no choice, couldn't do the work of the state anymore. todd: how insulting is it that he's invoking due process when it appears chris cuomo himself was trying to stifle in a way that due process of his brother's accusers by getting to them first? >> you can't take anything this person says seriously. he is an anchor. he is in the wrong profession. use cars, selling those might be a way to go. he said the media was against his brother. has anybody seen that movie that went on during spring of 2020, all those finding headlines, he got a book deal for millions of dollars thanks to the interviews his brother gave him time and again on cnn. this needs to go away, cnn should fire him but the suspension feels very -- after a couple months, this will slowly bring him back and it will be brian williams all over again. carley: that could happen. new york magazine has a book of essays out about alexandria ocasio cortez. the title of the book is take up space, the unprecedented aoc, and inclusive essay on the role her beauty place in her public perception and analysis on her social media, and essay honor authenticity and social media reacting, don't want to waste time here. the tweets we have, media in other countries would be a chambered to succumb to politicians this way. >> let me unwrap this in 25 seconds but aoc always look beyond the sizzle, look at her record, the thing that matters when it comes to the simple question has she made the lives of those she serves in the fourteenth district of new york better. according to the nonpartisan center affect effective lawmaking, she's one of the least effective lawmakers in congress. on the democratic side she ranked 230 out of 240, 18 congressional democrats from new york state she ranked last. cnn gave her a primetime documentary, being aoc regionally, time magazine called her the phenom. multiple writers from new york magazines with these essays, the dnc couldn't write the script better, sizzle over stake is the classic way to describe alexandria ocasio cortez. todd: this is a 400 page book, we know where creative writing majors have gone with their careers. carley: the time is 51 minutes after the hour. a double standard. nancy pelosi and chuck schumer had a lot to say about gas prices when trump was president but where's the outrage now? >> i don't know if they draw deep connections they understand biden as the president and understand when they fill up the cars really darn expensive. i hear this all the time. people are talking about gaffes prices because, you know, again, it used to be $50 to fill up f-150. now $100 to fill up ford f-150. people understand another 40 bucks that fill up your car comes out of the bottom line free cash to spend with dinner with your wife. you are democrats they get the messaging they don't like american energy. they get that the biden has tapped into the -- to our federal reserve of oil. they get he is asking opec to pump oil. they get it and that's why biden's poll numbers are so low. because people are paying more because of his policies. carley: without a doubt. talk about the waukesha tragedy. something the media isn't covering that is affecting your home state of wisconsin. i thought this was really interesting. a local milwaukee. >> it v station they did some investigative reporting and they found that in milwaukee county, bail was set under $1,000 in dozens of cases, including 45 felonies. so, when you think people hear the word felony and then you think under $1,000 in bail, that doesn't translate. we are running out of time here. really important question. what needs to change to make americans safer?
