one democrat golden of a very purple district in maine voted no on this one. congressional budget office projects the build back better act will add $367 billion to the deficit over 10 years. although there is a lot of discussion about whether or not that number is even high enough. if the democrats get the i.r.s. to crack down on tax enforcement, the cbo predicts additional revenue won't be enough to make up the difference. we'll talk about who will end up making up the difference most likely. the white house disputes that. they claim the package will actually lower the deficit by $112 billion. minority leader kevin mccarthy torched this bill in a record-breaking 8 1/2 hour speech. watch. >> this is the single most reckless and irresponsible spending bill in our nation's history. every page of all this new washington spending will be paid for or borrowed from you, the american hard working taxpayer. and every page of this new washington spending shows just how irresponsible and out of touch the democrats are to the challenges that america faces today. i tell you, america, help is on the way. history repeats itself and it will repeat itself big next november. while the democrats' action on our economy such as anti-work welfare programs and massive unneeded stimulus has left american -- >> calling the bill biden's big back better bung will. -- it doesn't make it any less disaster. the "wall street journal" editorial board with this. cbo this summer projected annual deficits will already exceed a trillion dollars on average through 2030 and that is before the infrastructure bill or this house bill. when the spending all kicks in and rich are all taxed out, the middle class will be hit with a huge tax increase. this, they write in the "wall street journal," is the most dishonest spending bill in american history. but speaker pelosi clapping back at critics and taking a shot at kevin mccarthy. watch this. >> this bill is monumental. it is historic, it's transformative, it is bigger than anything we've ever done. it is a great day for our country and that's why we are so thrilled abt it. it is for the people. i didn't even pay attention to the speaker. i don't even listen to most of the speeches on the other side because they aren't fraught with meaning or fact. >> jason chaffetz fox news contributor former utah congressman joins me now. is this bill historic and transformative? >> yes, it is historic. it is one of the biggest bills in the history of our nation. the "wall street journal," the most dishonest bill in the history of the country. yeah, it is transformative because i don't think america would recognize who it is. the inflationary aspects of this, the tax increases that are coming with this, the provisions on immigration. all of these things given the light of day there is a reason why i think republicans are giddy that this is a, not going to become law because the senate said it is not going to pass. there is bipartisan opposition to it in the united states senate. but it also i think is a key indicator that democrats are no longer going to be in power the next time a vote comes up. >> it's so interesting to me, jason. one of the things that was a real dynamic in the 2016 election was that independent voters, suburban voters kept talking about they wanted a return to normalcy and what they were craving and what was directing a lot of their vote. now you have some moderate democrats who have taken to calling themselves normal. they are saying i'm a normal democrat and they are distancing themselves from progressives. so mccarthy pounced on that daylight between some democrats. watch this. >> it's so secret that this bill is too extreme, too costly, and too liberal. just a few weeks ago, congresswoman abigail spang berger said nobody elected joe biden to be fdr. >> i did. >> that was alexandria ocasio-cortez voice. a moment that -- she has spoken out quite a bit this week. what does that tell us, jason? >> you only to look back to virginia the democrats are tone deaf and the huge swings that have come. in order to win the house and presidency you have to attract the middle of america. you have to attract those people who don't have a party affiliation. and i think america is saying particularly those in the middle that the promise of joe biden, the idea they would work together and do these things together and bring us back to normalcy is a fiction. it was an absolutely. nancy pelosi in the clip you just played said i don't even listen to the republicans. that's the way the democrats are rolling right now and i think that's why it is just not a popular bill. in content. the numbers are stunning. we have never seen anything like this. it will hit people in their pocket books. inflation will get worse, martha. >> when you look back we've spent, including this bill, if it happens, close to $9 trillion have been thrown at the covid issue to grease the wheels of the economy, $9 trillion almost. it turns out when you ask voters if they think that all of this money is actually helping, actually making a difference in their lives, here is what the numbers look like. only 27% say i think that this bill, this most recent bill, will help my family. 27%. then you see add up those who say it is going to hurt or make no difference at all, so a negative or a nothing, you've got 64%. that number is up from 59% in a recent poll that think it will do nothing or hurt them, jason. >> more than 25%, more than 1 out of every 4 dollars spent in the country will be spent by your federal government. i think people understand it is far too much. we spend more than 1.5 billion a day just in interest on our national debt and we don't get anything for that. our interest rate is near zero. we're paying that much money. so most people don't recognize this. when obama passed his 787 billion back in 2008. i was back in congress 2009 did the roads get better and education better did social security checks go out faster? no, but they grew government. they grew the bureaucracy. they grew regulators and that's what will happen here. >> i would say on the way out here. most of the states ended up faring better than covid. they didn't run into the emergencies in terms of funding. california had a surplus during covid and the federal government took in more tax dollars ever in history. there is a ton of money that's already in the government coffers and we can't seem to get the social security plan and program so that it is going to work for a long time. it just raises a lot of questions and interesting to see how the american people feel about it. other polls not just our poll. jason chaffetz. thank you very much. good to have you here today. so another fox news alert for you. obviously we are watching the situation in kenosha really closely right now. anything could happen at any minute. they are in day four of deliberations in his trial, the 18-year-old defendant faces life in prison if he is con viktd on the most serious charge of first degree intentional homicide. so yesterday the judge had to step in and scold and ban msnbc from the courtroom for the rest of the duration here because they had a freelance reporter who was accused of trying to follow the jury bus and take pictures of it. the network says they did neither but they are banned because of the incident. so alexa mcadams is live as she has been throughout the course of it in kenosha, wisconsin. good to see you today. >> hi. we're waiting for something to happen. it could happen at any moment here for the trial in the kyle rittenhouse case. a few moments ago the mother of kyle walked into the courthouse. she hasn't been here since deliberation started. at this point the judge is focusing on that security issue we're talking about. he seemed life -- livid. >> i don't know what the ultimate truth of it is but absolutely it would go without much thinking that someone who is following the jury bus, that is a very extremely serious matter. >> the jurors are transported from the courthouse in a bus with covered windows. specifically to protect their identity. the judge announced he is banning msnbc from the trial. nbc news denied that it was trying to contact jurors saying they never tried or intended to contact those jurors or photographed or intended to photograph them. now as that investigation continues, the kenosha county sheriff saying he and his team are preparing for the trial to end meeting with protestors on both sides working to keep the peace. >> lots of people on stand by. from everything we've monitored so far, the way the situation is turning out. the amount of people that are here, if i was scared for anything right now i wouldn't be standing here with coffee and cookies. i think it has been going really well. >> still no verdict here on day four of deliberations. one of the reasons it could be, the jury has had quite a few questions about the directions they were given. the jury instructions. more than 30 pages they have to review. quite a few questions on that. one of the jurors asking the judge if they could bring the documents home to review the pages. >> the instructions are very confusing but -- >> i don't think it would be appropriate for them to bring their notes home. >> you're right about that. no notes to go home. >> more than 20 hours of deliberations here in kenosha county. the judge at one point telling everybody in the courtroom they are some of the most patient people in america as we wait for the verdict in the kyle rittenhouse case. back to you. >> it is a friday. sometimes that nudges the jury to get their work done. we'll see if that's the case. alexis, we'll see you throughout the day. thank you very much. great to have you there. leo terrell joins me now. fox news contributor and civil rights attorney. great to see you. so should they have been sequestered. should they have been sequestered? >> no question about it. the one mistake this judge made and i said it earlier the jury should have been sequestered. look what is going on outside and msnbc. intimidation from outside forces. there is a threat to our legal system and when you have the outside forces who have their own narrative they are ignoring the facts and the law. definitely it was a mistake. it is too late now because the jury in my opinion is aware of the outside noise and they go home, martha, and they've heard all the noise. they have the burden of the city not only about this case, but the burden of whether or not this city, kenosha, will be in trouble depending on their verdict. >> you know, all of these things, leo, on a jury, they seep into your consciousness. you know people are protesting outside, you hear -- even though the windows are blacked out and everyone is in a bad position. they have to watch the news on tv like everyone else. they won't have anybody in the courtroom which will be a disadvantage for them. but when these things happen, it makes them feel like people want to know who they are and that afterwards they will be contacted. that knowledge in them, that fear is with them right now, is it not? >> you are absolutely correct. first of all, msnbc should get their news from fox. they could learn a lot. the problem, these jurors are not in a bubble where they are not aware of what's going on. the thing that's going on outside is you have all these competing forces. black lives matter is out there. why? this is not a race case. kyle rittenhouse didn't kill any black individuals. didn't shoot any blacks. everyone has this narrative. the biggest concern is this, people were asking why is it taking so long, four days? it is a simple case, was there self-defense? straight forward. i will submit to you and to all the viewers they are aware of what's going on outside. it would be disingenuous for any lawyer or anyone to say they aren't aware what's going on outside. they are living through it every day and they are aware of it. >> and' mccarthy suggested he thinks the amount of time that has gone into this already on the part of this jury means they could be a hung jury. what is your prediction as we head into a friday afternoon in this case, leo? >> friday is a magical day, martha, for jurors. they don't like to come back on monday. they want to get done and go home. if we get a verdict we hopefully get it today. i agree with my colleague, andy, i see a hung jury or possible mistrial. the defense has an ace in the hole. they have pending motions as to whether asking the judge to dismiss this case with prejudice or without and i think they definitely want with prejudice. the judge is holding his fire depending on the jury outcome, martha. >> that's of interest. we'll talk about it throughout the afternoon today. leo, thank you very much. great to sigh, sir. >> thank you, martha. >> as you know, when you go to the gas pump it is not a pretty picture and you have the grocery store where prices are up 10%, 20% on the stuff that you buy every day, every week. new fox polls have an interesting take on what everybody in america is feeling. what people in the poll are feeling about this price increases. plus there is this. >> what we did, he was in congress for 40 years, he has the approval now that's closer to congressional representative than the president of the united states. >> those same polls spell disaster for the president when you look at the numbers and where they are right now. the overall approving for the white house and his handling on really the big issues that people say matter to them the most. tammy bruce will go through and we'll take a look at the polls and break them overwhelming majority say prices at the pump, grocery store and housing are causing them financial hardship and with the holiday season upon us 64% say that they are worried about being able to afford christmas presents. some in the media showing just how out of touch they are by comments like this down playing the threat of rising inflation and some cases mocking these concerns that americans have. >> nobody likes to pay higher prices but one dirty little secret is that people are doing it in droves. household savings hit a record high over the pandemic. we didn't have anywhere to spend. we're expecting retail sales this holiday season to break records. >> prices are higher which is never good. americans are also spending a record amount of money that was pent up during the pandemic which economics 101 drives prices up. inflation. >> martha: white house press secretary jen psaki with this. >> given we're coming out of an unprecedented economic shut down as a result of the pandemic we know small increases in price can impact a family's budget. what we're working to do now is both to address any issues that are slowing down the transfer of goods moving around. >> martha: let's look at how those small increases are shaping up. beef prices up more than 20%, pork 14%, oil a whopping 60%. it is getting colder outside if you noticed today and across the country. at the pump gas prices are up 50%. more than over last year at this time. a gallon of regular is up about $1.30. tammy bruce fox news contributor is with us now. the suggestion is it's not that bad. we've seen it in reporting in the other networks in the last week or so trying to downplay the impact of all of this. >> that's a problem. the media is seen as arbiters and stenographers, a roadmap for where the democrats are. there is little space between them. when there is such a lack of empathy, that is -- i guess we have a mic problem. when there is that kind of lack of empathy, we have that kind of a problem, of course. so i don't know if you can still hear me. maybe it is not as great as it was. >> martha: we got you. let's take a look at this while we get your mic in the right spot. it might be a bit tone deaf when you look at this one. prices for thanksgiving are up dramatically. white house showed pictures of the two birds for the turkey pardon named peanut butter and jelly, cute names. social media is having a field day. that's what you'll be eating for thanksgiving in biden's economy. sly reference to the biden administrations plan for the poor. let them eat cake. >> thank goodness i won't blame the mic issue on the bind administration. this is what the american people are seeing. moody as analytics shows the increased costs because of inflation for the average household is creeping up to about $200. $50 a week. if you are making six figures a year, a millionaire $200 is maybe your flour bill. for most americans it has a direct impact on the groceries, on your rent, on a cell phone bill, on the nature of how you are able to do it. whether or not you can fill your tank. so for those of us who lived through the jimmy carter years as teenagers we recognize the pain it brings. what i think this highlights is this weird bubble that has been created amongst the elite where they have enough money. they aren't even thinking about you or if they are it doesn't matter because their theory is what matters. oh, you can handle the pain. you little rooubs over there. you can deal with it. you were saving money. this notion that if you spend money is what's created inflation from i think it was joy reid is nuts. it is flooding the system with cash. it is making the economy hot. that's what these bills have done. trillions of dollars moving into the system. the supply chain issues, a higher wages based on the $15 minimum wage while then higher costs in that regard and lower wages as the illegal immigrants are flooding into the workplace as well. that depresses wages. so we've got a government that really is looking at the people as an irritant and that they can afford it. why can't you? the message from the biden administration seems consistently and legacy media deal with it, take the pain. buck up. that's not what america is and certainly when it of course all of this is unforced these are created by the policies and we see with this new bill will only add to the pain. >> martha: one of the stunning things is the disconnect. you watch congress mulling over another close to $2 trillion in spending and you see prices going higher and higher and then you see the poll numbers and it is pretty clear that the policies are leading to people having less confidence. so if you are in the white house, you have to look at this and not be scornful of what's -- of the individuals who feel this way but to recognize that you have to meet that moment and these poll numbers are bad. let's look at some of the latest ones. we just got a whole new set of them in. this one is -- shows the president is pretty much under water. job approval rating fell 12 points in the last six months. he is at 44% approval down from 56% in june. and it is not just the fox polls that are showing these numbers because some of the other ones are showing it as well. quinnipiac shows 75% are dissatisfied with the country. look at one poll or another or our poll and say i won't pay attention to that one. we are are seeing this in several polls. if you working at the white house you have to look at these and say we need to get real here. >> you could actually get a sense that if i don't understand this because i'm very wealthy, the polls tell you overwhelmingly what the dynamic is and it has to be a willful ignorance. a decision to ignore it and to not care. there is now no excuse that americans are saying enough. i heard a democrat operative also acting as a journalist suggesting that it was biden's low poll numbers that were affecting the numbers on the issues like the economy, immigration, the china, afghanistan, even the coronavirus. but in fact it's the other way around. his numbers are low because americans don't like the impact of the democrats' policies on their lives. that's the difference. so it's a clear thing if they are in group think and their own teams are not involving them in this and explaining it to them they just need to look at these numbers from the american people. but especially amongs the independent. its -- it's across the board. >> martha: the bottom of the screen people got a peek at it.
