>> it's all about getting that curve down and not overwhelming the hospital system. >> steps were taken like social distancing to flatten the pandemic curve so hospitals are not overwhelmed. >> you want to slow the spread of this. so you keep the number of cases lower. >> laura: americans hunkered down for weeks. some longer. grand gestures were made by government officials and a lot of private citizens to pay tribute to our heroes on the front lines of covered. -- covid. they lit up the empire state building and people hung out windows to cheer on nurses and doctors. >> [cheers and applause]. >> laura: even celebrities got in on the act expressing their gratitude. >> i want to thank all of the workers on the front line that are risking their lives every day. >> we are here to celebrate the doctors and the nurses who are risking their health to save ours. >> laura: and let's not forget the former celebgovernor andrew cuomo begged healthcare heroes for helps. >> save our troops. in this battle the troops are healthcare professionals. i am asking healthcare professionals across the country, if you don't have a healthcare crisis in your community, please come help us in new york. we need relief. >> laura: now that some nurses and first responders are resisting the vaccine mandate, it becomes clear those emotional words meant nothing. now that healthcare workers threaten the power grab they have gone from heros to public health menaces. they are being terminated for opting out of vaccine requirements. they have to choose between taking a vaccine they don't want or being fired from a job they love. many report antibodies from past exposure. others are young and fit and don't feel they need the vaccine. these are people in hospitals every day so you can't say they haven't seen the pandemic up close or don't understand the risks. of course they do. they have experienced it firsthand and have chosen to fore go the vaccination for a variety of reasons. >> this is how we practiced our profession. we have this mandate that came through. does this make sense? >> you can see the data and see the statistics alone of the survival rate. for me the rick of the vaccine was more concerning to me than getting the virus.thangetting t getting the virus. >> laura: the staffing shortages are getting worse by the day. houston methodist fired unvaccinated workers and upstate new york hospitals are in a bind too. in buffalo, 400 people are unvaccinated and on leave. we stop elective in-patient surgery. new york state's largest healthcare provide already fire to dozen and another fired 200 employees. think about the insanity of this for a moment. the politicians and the public health officials who begged us to stay home and wear masks and cancel churches and sports and weddings to save the healthcare system. they are now the ones actively sabotaging the healthcare system. it makes you think it was not about saving the hospitals. when they say the hospitals are being overwhelmed, it's almost always a lie. with the exception of a few big cities in the u.s., our hospital system was stretched but never overwhelmed. when the delta variant any hospitals that were stretched usually found themselves in the situation due to staffing shortages created by it student vaccine mandate. we know the vaccines help avoid serious illness, but we also know that fully vaccinated people can still get sick and they can still spread the virus. in other words, fully vaccinated hospital workers can still spread covid to others. but they won't be fired. all of these hospital associations smashed their own credibility in not recognizing natural immunity among staff. how is it that state medical boards don't recognize established immunology on this? it makes no sense. the madness continues to this day. people from all walks of life and races are saying no. other anti-mandate protest popped up in manhattan yesterday. >> [shouting]. >> [bleep]. >> [shouting]. >> laura: do they look like uninformed trump supporters to you one of the most revealing government actions came days ago from the new york governor kathy hochul. after her state's mandate created a healthcare worker shortage, she responded with more emergency power and ordered foreign workers to replace her own constituents. >> this is a conversation we had to talk about the opportunity to free up the visa system. we had temporary workers come from the philippines. >> laura: and the unvaccinated workers would be ineligible for unemployment benefits. illegal immigrants crossing the border are treated better than lifelong new york residents. this replacement worker scenario is perfect for liberals who are happy to import foreign labor. they love that. vaccine mandates and healthcare and policing and fire departments, they are the latest example of government officials getting their pandemic response wrong with the effects hitting the working class people harder. all of these mandates were meant to protect us. now we know that they were doing all of it trying to protect their own power. remember what these gene us -- gene us said about the packed college stadium. >> i would be very surprised if we had not did outbreaks across the country related to these gathers. >> laura: always wrong but never in doubt. none of it panned out. i think they are disappointed there has been no spread from college football. the same would occur if hospitals left their workers to make their own decisions, but that would mean they would lose some of their own control. people in the northeast and the west coast will have to save themselves from this mess. the democrats policies of vaccine punishments and closures don't work. now they need villains as the scapegoat and think they found them among the unevacuated. next -- unvaccinateded. next year we will see that didn't work. that's the "angle." massachusetts state troopers quit in the wake of their state's vaccine mandates. one is luke who joins me with a doctor who could lose his job for not being vaccinated. luke, you have not yet resigned. when the vaccine mandate policy goes into effect on october 17th, you will face progressive discipline. explain that. >> yes, that's correct. we were told for the emplios of the executive branch in massachusetts -- any employee who doesn't abide by the vaccine mandate will face discipline that will end in termination. >> laura: how is that going over among your colleagues, even those who got the vaccine? >> i have. many of my colleagues are if great distress over the mandate. who received the vaccine and thinks the mandate goes too far and support those who remain unvaccinated and many of us who are unvaccinated are concerned for our jobs. many of us have the opportunity to play for a religious or medical exemption. based on the guidelines we were given many won't qualify for such an exemption. >> laura: dr. williams, you are a medical professional. during the beginning. pandemic there were tributes and thanks -- how do you feel now given what is happening? >> i don't take it personally. but i think for all of us, i definitely feel sad and maybe ashamed might be a word too when medicine has come to something that doesn't look anything like the science we studied. it's turned upside down in the blink of an eye. >> laura: explain that more. >> well, now, what it looks like most of medicine looks like psychological warfare rather than evidence based medicine. none of these things make sense where it's natural immunity or the roll out of the pandemic and the moderna and pfizer vaccines have a well known allergen. there was a big study that said anyone who is going to be injected with this should have tests for allergies prior. when i saw that, my mind was blown. they didn't say a thing to anyone. that's a well known, established scientific fact even in moderna's sec filings in 2018. >> laura: well, luke, i want to go back to what your governor in massachusetts charlie baker who is a republican in name own, he says of course we want to get vaccinated to get back to normal. >> i look at the data i see out there. it's very clear to me that the fastest path back to normalcy and the life everybody wants is to get more and more people vaccinated. >> laura: it's a shaming thing he is doing. you are the only one. you people, you and the good doctor, you are preventing us from going back to normal. how about just go back to normal. fenway park was packed and people were not wear are masks. >> it that's correct. i listened to that commentary from the governor. one thing that concerned me about that he went on to say that getting the vaccine is the right thing to do. the problem with that the opposite of the right thing is the wrong thing. what he said is that not getting the vaccine is the wrong thing to do. however, there are hundreds of members of the state police association of massachusetts of which i am a member who have sincerely held religious beliefs that preclude them from taking the vaccine or medical problems or those who have ethical convictions that can't see themselves taking the vaccine. i find it frankly offensive we are told that's wrong. >> laura: illegal immigrants are waved in with nothing tested and sent across the country by hundreds of thousands. none of this make sense. the democrat's vaccine power trip made it to the southern border but not are in the illegal immigrants entering the country. the biden administration is poised to punish custom and border patrol agents. congressman jim jordan joins me. you were approached by a whistleblower on this subject. what did you learn? >> the border patrol was begin official notice that if agents don't get the vaccine by november, they will be fired. today we had a briefing from secretary mayorkas and asked him about what is happening with the flood of migrants coming across the southern border. he said we asked them if they want it, it's their choice. think about that: the people busting their tails enforcing the law on the border, they will get fired if they don't take the vaccine. for people who break the law to come here, no big deal. it's up to you want that's how ridiculous the biden administration has become am these people who just a year like doctors, nurses and police officers were heroes. now will lose your job if you don't take the same vaccine that kamala harris said he would not take a year ago. this is ridiculous and the american people know that. >> laura: we had nursing shortages. police officers being fired. they are bringing in foreign workers to take the jobs of americans who don't get the vaccine. is this really the country we were born in. i want to add this. even before this whistleblower news, border patrol is already suffering from personal shortages. in a june report the agency's model showed a shortage of 1700 officers and 400 other specialists. this vaccine mandate will hurt the hospitals. it will make the border less secure? >> that's right. it will make the problem worse across the board for hospitals and police department handling the southern border. the only conclusion you can reach this is intentional. the biden administration will we will stop building the wall and fire agents. is that is not deliberate, i don't know what is. this is what is so scary about this it administration. this is what they must want because there is no other conclusion any rational person can reach. that's frightening to me and to the american people. >> laura: trying to bring as many in as possible before they lose control of congress. the dhs secretary did make an admission about migrants and covid. >> we are confronted with a population of people that as a determined matter have a rate of illness of 20%. >> laura: and we are firing nurses and border patrol and police and teachers. >> we are giving illegal immigrants the choice where they get the vaccine. this it makes absolutely though sense. this is the same secretary who a week and a half ago told us the border is secure. we are sick of being lied to. we are sick of the false information from the secretary of the state saying the border is secure. >> laura: he was proud of how it was going. congressman, thanks for this imagination tonight. and a lt. colonel called out the lack of accountability for our military leadership about the afghanistan withdrawal. his candor got him stripped of his command. now he was thrown in the brig facing a court martial. his parents of join us in moments. stay there. ♪ ♪ mom! mom! every day can be extraordinary with rich, creamy, delicious fage total yogurt. >> we have a secretary of defense that said the afghanistan security forces could withstand the taliban offense. they were supposed to advise on military policies and a marine commander. all of these people are supposed to advise. those people died in vain. we don't have senior leaders that own up and say we did not do this well in the end. >> laura: that man a lt. col. is sitting in the brig and faces a court martial for calling out the ineptitude of the military decision making. while he is in jail, the leaders pedalled excuses for their failures in it afghanistan today. >> the withdrawal of those forces would lead to the collapse of the afghan military forces. >> yes, my assessment was back in the fall of 2020 and remained consistent we should keep a state of 2500 up to 3500. >> laura: joining mor the lt. col.'s parents cathy and stu. your reaction to your son's imprisonment when they were playing the blame shifting game saying we would have left troops there. your response? >> our son called for accountability. throughout the hearing today i don't feel like they accepted accountability. i am extremely disappointed. it's no coincidence in my opinion that they put a gag order on him and they put him in prison the day before they had to appear in front of senators and tomorrow in front of congressmen. i think that is fairly an act of cowardice. we are proud of our son. our son is a hero. he fought for this country for 17 years. he's been on 5 deployments and taught countless men and women. the marines have fast tracked him in his career. until 30 days ago, he was a hero to the leadership of the marine corps. on august 26th, when 13 of our servicemen died in the kabul airport, something inside of our son snapped. he was angry. he in principle -- he is a very courageous and principled man -- but with that happened, he had to go and ask his leaders for accountability. he had many active duty marines and veterans were asking is it worth it? he called for accountability and within 12 hours they removed him from his position. it's been downhill from there. >> laura: cathy, your son is in military prison tonight. as a mother, when you watch general mark milley asked point blank if he would resign, i want your reaction after we play his answer. >> there is a senior military officer, resigning is a serious thing and a political act if i resign in protest. my dad didn't get a choice to resign and those kids don't get a choice to resign. i will understand resign. no way. >> laura: he said resigning would be turning his back on the troops. your thoughts? >> my thoughts are, our son said to him if you thought this was a bad idea, are you willing to say i won't put our men and women in peril? he said have dropped the rein and resigned and said i will not do this it to our members. he didn't do that. let me explain why the accountability is so important. during the war in last 20 years we lost around 7,000 troops. we have lost in the last 20 years between 30 up to 100,000 troops from suicide. they need that accountability. they need to know what they did mattered. so many lives to be saved on the back side by being held accountable. i say take that rein and put it down and stand up for your other service member and for my son and for america. >> laura: go ahead. >> basically, they let hundreds of americans in afghanistan. they are leaving our son tonight in it prison. that's not okay with us. i challenge the american people: is that okay with you? is it okay with you that a 17-year infantry officer that put his life on the line to protect you and protect your children, is it okay with you that he is put in jail and is facing a court martial. he didn't murder anyone or sexually offend anyone or do drugs. he asked for accountability. they could not handle it. it's an embarrassment. it's shameful. if it's not okay for you, americans, we are asking you to stand up, write your congressman, demand accountability. it's not just accountability for the botched afghanistan withdrawal or people left behind. the only one being held accountable for this botched situation is my son by the generals. >> laura: i want to play this. you took the words out of my mouth. senator cotton asked defense secretary austin about your son's confinement. >> there was a critical video on social media last month and he was relieved of his command. he is being held in pre-trial confinement. why is that? >> i don't have any specifics of what caused him to be held in pre-trial confinement. i would certainly ask the marines to provide that insight. >> laura: cathy, he is the pentagon chief! this young man is in military jail. are you surprised that austin has no idea what is going on? >> i could not believe those words came out of his mouth. if he doesn't know what is going on, shame on him if he is totally unaware. a lot of other people are aware. we are not going to let them take their dirty little secret and hide it away and put our son so he can't speak and take him away from freedom of speech so they can hide their little secret. i don't know. i don't know anything about it. >> laura: joe biden compained as a president that would bring accountability and restoring dignity -- that was a big part of his campaign against president trump to win this election. he is commander-in-chief now. your son violated orders from your commanders according to the law? >> i get that lt. col. caused problems for the marine corps and the military by breaking the chain of command. he knows it. and it will be talked about for decades in the future of what stewart has done with social media and it's a problem for the marine corps. while stewart broke the chain of command, general mckenzie and general milley and secretary austin broke the chain of trust and confidence of the american people. for that, they should be embarrassed. >> they it should their rank and resign for that. >> today's hearing showed they won't accept accountability for the mistakes they made. they wanted to blame everybody else -- the afghan military and the weather. i am telling you, they should resign. >> laura: shouldn't they are fired? >> you and i both know joe biden is not going to fire them. >> for my son we have to get word out to the american people about what is going on. he needs our help. we are asking the american people to write their congressman to say it's not all right with them. we want them to resign and we want stuart released. we would like him to have his pension reinstated and his military benefits that he will need. if they won't do that at least release him and let him out of the marines. he asked for that. that's what we are asking for. we are asking for people to support his family by going to pipefittersfoundation.org. his family needs funding to live. >> laura: this is outrageous. the legal fees. we will work on that. this is ridiculous! this is a travesty what happened to your son. >> we would like to continuing will be over in days or weeks, but we our expectation visit been leveled by stuart's legal team that the marines could drag this out for years. their objective -- and by the way, pre-trial confinement is a nice comfortable word. >> laura: is your son a flight risk? >> absolutely not. >> no. he loves this country. he loves america. >> laura: so they don't want him to talk? they are worried about what else he might say? >> they don't want him to talk. they have not even brought charges on him and they are holding him in solitary confinement. >> if that's not okay -- >> laura: they seem to like solitary confinement lately. all of the civilian rights folks said it was cruel and unusual punishment but loose it against political opponents. -- use it. your son's state of mind? >> i don't know. i can't talk to him. he is not allowed to take phone calls. >> we talked to him for 2 minutes on monday morning. >> laura: this can't be our country. >> it's not like the marine corps is calling us to let us know. >> laura: would have this happened under trump? >> yes. they said they made that change to disallow non-residents. it had nothing to do with me. i became a launder county resident coincidentally. it's a lifelong dream i have had. i decided to finally come out and live my truth as a virginian and it worked out this way. the school board said they just want to hear from parents. well, really? before i showed up they were giving parents 60 seconds. if you want to hear from people, it's a strange strategy to let them speak for 60 seconds and sound a buzzer and cut the mic off. that's what they do. that's how they communicate how much they want to hear from the parents. >> laura: they do not want any opposition. they don't want to hear from you. they don't care what parents think or what more traditional americans think. they want to run the show. they want you to shut up and lin. >> yes. and it's also because they know their policies are indefensible. they can't have any type of exchange. they can't risk allowing anyone to it stand there and make a longer argument against these policies. they are indocketinating kids into their religious cult. -- they are not interested in having a debate and that's clear. >> laura: there was a debate tonight. the final virginia's governor debate and mcalliff made it clear about the parents. >> i don't think parents should tell schools what they should teach. i get really tired of everybody running down teachers. what they have done through covid, they are heroes who deserve our respect. >> laura: that's what they said about the healthcare workers until they fired them for not getting the vaccine. they trot out the teachers when it's convenient. >> yes, many didn't want to show up to work for a year and a half. parents should not tell teachers who to teach? democrats are if disarray with biden's agenda on the line. and in the news today that senator sinema said she is not there on the massive tax and spend plan. biden met with senator manchin and didn't win him over. joining me now utah senator mike lee. i think pelosi and schumer are crafty and experienced. they will get to a dollar figure am maybe it's not $3.5-trillion but they know it's do-or-die for biden >> i think that is right. there are a lot of people within washington, d.c. to see it as an organic being that takes moneyy from the poor and giving it to the wealthy. that's what the reconciliation is all about. it's the opposite of the way it was described. it will subject americans to more government, the same government that is harming them. >> laura: they keep saying it won't cost anything. this is so typical d.c. i have been here way too long. i said now i have heard it all. it's free. money is free, falling out of the sky. >> paid for on the backs of poor and middle-class americans. every dollar they earn, inflation is the result when you print trillion dollars you don't have. it might be free to them. it's not free to the american people. >> laura: bernie sanders is encouraging his fellow radicals to tank the big spending plan saying no infrastructure bill should pass without the $3.5-trillion reconciliation bill. what is that all about. >> i don't know. if it works i would like it. i would encourage more of this from bernie sanders. i will cheer him from the sidelines if he gets people to reach that conclues and helps us tank this bill.sion and helps us tank this bill. >> laura: how about the 19 senators that voted for that it infrastructure bill? >> i strongly disagree with them. last year we brought in 3 trillion dollars and spent 6.6-trillion dollars. weer track to rival that. we don't have this money. over time we spend money we don't have, we print it. we are loading it on the backs of poor americans. >> laura: are pushing back on the vaccine mandate. we have 12 bills. do you have any hope on this?
