to members in that crowd. and there were some very interesting moments. is that right? what can you tell us? reporter: certainly, jim, some very, very interesting moments. certainly people who believe that this insurrection just didn t exist, that this was just people trespassing, people who just don t believe that when have seen before their very eyes. i had the opportunity to talk to one of the attendees, and he was talking about how no officers were assaulted, how this was a bunch of people who were just trying to go in and essentially protest, and asking him all sorts of questions, you could just tell he was living in his own kind of reality, take a listen to some of what i asked him. it s a public building. i mean people out there, people are in this town all the time and i think the most severe charge they have is trespassing. destroying property, assaulting an officer? you don t believe the video? on video, there is assaulting of a police officer. you don t think
encouraging it and the stunning silence of the republican leaders as this is all happening, treating it as if it is a walk in the park. it is very painful to see. not just silence but outright defense and dismissal of the threat. whitney wild is outside of the fencing, surrounding it. law enforcement making sure it is more prepared this time around. so what steps are they taking and what are they expecting? reporter: well what they re expecting is potentially hundreds of beam to descend into washington as the event organizer for the nonviolent people who are charged in the january 6 insurrection. it is a little bit noisy out here because they re doing last-minute tweaking that surrounds the u.s. capitol grounds, somewhat of a familiar site here in washington following this january 6 insurrection. they are prepared for potential violence today as well as tomorrow and the concern, jim, is that people might be potentially promoting violence in furtherance of this stolen elec
