It all went down Randolph Township in new jersey. Last month School Board members got a ton of backlash from parents and renaming columbus day. In an effort to make up for that, really, they voted to change the name of every holiday, christmas, thanksgiving, hanukkah they will all be called a generic Day Off on the school calendar. In a statement one School Board member said this if we dont have anything on the calendar, we dont have to have anyone with hurt feelings or anything like that. It didnt go over and video School Board meeting showed angry parents yelling out but the change will not have an impact on the Curriculum But Randolph parent with the School Board to step down saying that they represent everything that is wrong with education today. I think it is socially combined with political ideologies and people in positions of, you know perceived power are pushing their personal agendas instead of doing what they are entrusted to do. And i think this is the tip of the iceberg. Gillian the School Board feeling that he to more than 2500 signatures now and almost 2500 on the online petition so things are heating up. Gillian the question is if you will not name and celebrate for the holidays like Thanksgiving And Hanukkah by giving the students the Day Off . How do you teach them about the holidays . Mlk day at a big teachable moment that entire month and then also veterans day, Memorial Day and how do you talk to your students about these days and what they mean .
