>> covid did not get into the nursing homes by people coming from hospitals. covid got into the nursing homes by staff walking into the nursing home. when we didn't even know we had covid. anybody can bring it in. the deliveryman brings it in. the heating repair man brings an end. the food service brings it in. staff person goes home, meets with their family, someone in the family has it and the staff member comes back in the staff member brings it in. >> greg: it's just not his fault. it's all those little people. but you've got to wonder, how does he know this? i mean, he blamed all of this on a void of information which is funny given who controls the information. it's him. how can you forget this? >> we are below the national average number of deaths in nursing homes. but who cares? 33, 28 died in the hospital, died in the nursing home. they died of. >> greg: as bad as cuomo is and he's bad, he has one ace in the hole. bill de blasio. his crime not only rises but turns grizzly under him. someone recently arrested for four other violent attacks. why was he on the street? maybe he would get covid in prison. where cuomo's defenses always steeped in defense of arrogance, de blasio is always mindless ambivalence. knowing the disorder accelerates the revolution in the press play zone. as new york bleeds out, people pack u-haul leaving the rich andinsane behind. they can fight it out. the tickets for that show will be easier to get then "hamilton." dana, i'd like to see your perspective from the public relations point of view given that your history. how do you think this thing went today with cuomo? >> dana: not well. i would say presidential ambitions are out the window. i also think his hopes of a fourth term as governor are done. i think if he announces that sooner than later, that will probably help. he's not just taking incoming from the right. he's now taking incoming from the left. if you think about, one of the worst things that happen at the beginning of the pandemic was him fighting with de blasio. unsorted wasting time. i would say if you're going to have a press conference, why didn't you do it last thursday when the story broke. the story has been out there thursday, friday, saturday, sunday. then you answer questions but you don't answer all the questions. you leave so many things unanswered. that means if you talk about information void, the people are going to try to spill it in. i want to thank you, greg. i will now start use ace whole and i will never be bleeped again. thank you very much. >> greg: i have another word i invented. i will tell you later. juan, was the take on the presser? did he do right by himself or is he in the same boat? >> juan: i think he's largely the same boat. he is trying to explain things. he's right, the total number of deaths is the total number of deaths. but there is no question my mind that he covered up what was going on inside the nursing homes and we heard last week just that from one of his top aides. it's not like he can say that was a misunderstanding although she has tried to backtrack a little bit. the fact is the fact. i think where i would see it as a little differently than you do is i think the new york media, goodness gracious. they go after de blasio and cuomo it seems to me. it's an all-out hockey brawl every day. with the new york tabloids, the big city tablet is leading the way in "the new york times" loves to throw low blows at cuomo whenever they get a shot. it's democrats and republicans were highly critical of cuomo in this moment. over the nursing home situation. for me, i think -- i don't know it's the end of his time in politics but as a leader right now, his base with democrats is in danger. no question. >> greg: sean, you are in politics. i'm interested, juan is right, it seems like the new york media has turned but they kind of waited until it no longer would benefit trump. now that trump is out of the picture, now they can deal with this because they know it won't actually advance trumps position or something like that. am i reading too much into it? >> sean: i don't think you are. they wanted to save cuomo while he was bashing on trump. the bottom line is politics is very simple. be honest with people. we are human, we make mistakes. if you make a mistake in your honesty and you apologize and you promise to do better, people will give you a pass but when you say that the mistake was i created a void and it wasn't my policy that allowed people, seniors who were sick with covid to go back into a nursing home and infect everybody else. it's actually the staff workers that were the problem. you're not taking responsibility. also they should've been honest with the numbers, how many people in nursing homes actually died from his bad policies. if you apologize, people forgive. i'm from wisconsin. i'm out here this week and i was walking around, looks like a packers game. everyone sitting outside with stocking hats and winter jackets. what a horrible policy to kick everyone out of restaurants and make them sit outside and 28-degree weather. >> greg: also what's interesting about the things they are sitting in his actually buildings. all they would have to do is let the restaurant leave the windows open. that's what they just did. they built a second part of the restaurant and leave the doors and windows open. i don't understand. katie, where do you see his career going? how do you feel about new york in general? i'm very depressed. >> katie: i will not go into my deep feelings about new york in general because it will take the entire show. i do not live there so i think your opinion matters more than mine but what has happened to new york is sad. in terms of cuomo's career, right now looks really bad but i'm not confident that he won't fail up especially given the national media has given him such a pass at this point. i do think that the investigations at the local level and department of justice. maybe more results than cuomo would like. made obvious today he's not going to help with those investigations. tried to say subpoenas from the legislature and the assembly were illegal. that they couldn't use them against him because you can't use them for leverage when that's the entire point of those things. you have democrats demanding that there be subpoenas issued, seems like he will be in trouble for so for the sake of the families, there should be some kind of legal accountability here. they're not going to get it from the media. if there is no legal accountability, cuomo will continue to rise in his political career. now it looks pretty bleak. >> greg: and no one talks about de blasio. it's -- i come i -- de blasio what was worse but no one cares because he is no longer national. he ran for president. you remember that? >> dana: we work in cable television. we like ratings too. i don't know if that's it. we talk a lot about media and media bias. sometimes they can get a little bit overwrought. but over and over again you see a situation like impeachment overall, not just about this thing that he was complaining about. i do think overall with impeachment, remember what happened last time impeachment failed. never heard about it again. not during the whole campaign. i have a feeling, i heard somebody say that today was really the first day of joe biden's presidency. now you have the impeachment trial finished and people would focus on joe biden. however, one of the things i also read today is that the biden team plan to keep president trump front and center because it helps, it basically allows them to do a lot of things without getting a lot of media scrutiny. it's starting to change and i think one of the things you'll see is on school closures on reopenings. there's a lot of media coverage on that from all walks of life. i will leave it there. i know there's a lot of other people. >> sean: we want ratings but we do it by telling the truth. that may be a distinction we have with other networks. but i'm a former prosecutor. if you don't tell the truth, if you liar doctor evidence, we take it personally. it's not what we do and persecution. do you think it was a big deal that liberals were modifying or doctoring the evidence? >> katie: the attorneys expose the bias of the media all of last year. the insightful language, the incitement of going out and attacking cabinet members, attacking trump supporters violently in the streets. that's something a number of people called for. you had the current vice president bailing out rioters after they had done significant damage by burning down buildings in minneapolis. everybody kind of looked around in the media and shrugged and said well, it's for a cause. now you have this opposite argument being made by democrats in the media when it comes to what happened on january 6. i think they are frustrated with the double standard, the coverage, and that's why they played over and over again words from democrats using very "violent" language to show the double standard. >> sean: no doubt there is a double standard. juan, i think democrats love to talk about president trump because they don't have to talk about the liberal policies that americans don't like. after the second acquittal, democrats are talking about donald trump being charged and prosecuted criminally. where does it fall on the "unifying america" front that joe biden promised. >> juan: we have to heal and i think a key part of healing news that we face up to what took place. what took place was grievous in my judgment. i've never seen anything like it. i don't think you have either, the idea that a mob would attack the commerce of the united states and that the president would be involved. that's unbelievable. we have three impeachments in the last 20 years. but no matter, it's still the ultimate penalty that the people of the united states can impose on the president. it's going to get a lot of media coverage. and the managers that i think, did a splendid job making a strong case for conviction. what we see is seven republican senators willing to stand up and face the blowback they came from trompe l'oeil lohse carlos the country. still -- trump loyalists across the country. you had every democrat and every independent in the senate vote for a conviction. mitch mcconnell says he thinks trump was morally responsible. he gave a ten minute speech afterwards, eight of the 10 minutes was about making the case that trump was responsible. he said he just doesn't like the idea of convicting someone who's already out of office. i want to make this point. the most important thing that came out of this to me is the idea that with a third of the country still talking about, there was fraud in the election, i don't think anybody threw that defense up in this impeachment. i hope we can bury that lie. >> sean: i don't think impeachment brings america together. 74 million americans have the same evidence though senators didn't didn't agree with those votes. to you, greg, after the acquittal president trump has said that the maga movement is just beginning and there is much more to share in the months ahead. where do you think? is donald trump going to run for president the second time? >> greg: juan says if you want to bury the lie of election fraud, let's investigate it and make it more transparent. if people can believe something was wrong with the election not be accused of being treasonous, your side did it for four years. nobody is going to bury anything. people are concerned about the problem with the election system, the same way you feel about the justice system, it was okay for your side, democrats, the left, terrell rioted for months over the justice system. 70 gets ticked off about the election system and that's treasonous. it took -- talk about how the media masters narratives, took three years to finally slay the "fine people" hoax. the transcription flows online for everybody to see. i know. i read it here on the show over a year ago. that was the big bag of lies that the other lies came from. the difference between the right and left in terms of media, and the left knows that the villains they designate are designated by group. so "the five" doesn't sit around and make fun of biden voters but the left makes fun of trump voters. they make fun of law enforcement. it's an entire swath of people in this world that are doing their jobs. we make fun of de blasio. we make fun of cuomo. we made fun of left-wing democrats. what we don't make fun of biden voters. the other trick is withholding news until it can't be used against them or from their point of view. "i'm calling on congress to enact common sense gun law reform including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets." last week jen psaki said the president is eager to take on the nra. dana, let me look at what the president is trying to do. you've got to get some of this past congress. he is trying to do some of this on executive orders but he can only do so much. the one thing that he's doing that stands out to me is trying to extend background checks to anyone who is not family. that would be closing a current loophole. it has 90% support in the polls. >> dana: the polling might be there for that. i would defer dictating on the specifics because she knows this area very well. i would say a couple things. i understand making this announcement on the parkland anniversary. i also think the administration, they have a covid relief bill they want to get done. they want to get it done in the next three weeks. they're probably going to do an on reconciliation so a bipartisan agreement on that is on -- of the window. the thing that's happened is that you have more gun owners in america now than you did even six years ago. by a huge margin. many of the people were figuring out a way to get a gun legally, get trained and protect themselves and their businesses because of rising crime. so i think we don't really understand how the politics of all this is going to shake out. it did surprise me a little bit the they went ahead and did it so early when they have so many other things to do but i did note that when asked where beto o'rourke was going to be on the issue, remember biden said o'rourke was going to be his go to on guns. i have a feeling they will have nothing for him on that. >> juan: all right. katie, i know you have a great interest in the subject. i wanted to pick up on what dana was talking about. third anniversary of parkland and now we have people in congress who say it was a hoax. how do we deal with that? >> katie: i don't think -- parkland clearly happened. i'm not going to entertain the idea that it did not. it clearly happened. i would also say that the narrative on parkland is that everybody who was a victim of the shooting is for more gun control when there are some students who are not proponents of more gun control. and is opposed to president biden's calls for gun control. i want to pick up on something that dana just said about new gun owners. last year alone, almost half of the record number of gun owners were first time gun there was a .4 million new people purchasing their first firearm. joe biden continues to use this old talking point that he's going to take on the nra. those 8.4 million people are not nra members. they are women. a lot of them are minorities, very diverse group of people. this idea -- instead of stepping back and saying why is it that there's more people purchasing firearms, they are saying it's a problem. you have jen psaki saying they were concerned about the record number of gun sales last year. they were legal gun sales. 21 million background checks went to the fbi last year. instead of looking at that and saying who are these people and what are their concerns? they are conflating taking guns on the hands of true violent criminals with law-abiding citizens and going after their secondment rights. there is a shared goal that a lot of pro-second amendment groups have. that's keeping guns out of the wrong hands. that's not to go after people legally using firearms. >> juan: picking up on that, the supreme court has said in affirming everyone's second amendment rights that it still okay to put restrictions on conditions and qualifications for gun owners. do you see anything that went beyond constitutional restrictions and what biden was proposing. >> sean: it's a longer discussion. what i am concerned about is these restrictions on focused on law-abiding american citizens who have a second run right to possess a firearm. those other people will follow the law that this will affect. we know criminals don't follow laws. by definition, they are criminals. they will get the guns that joe biden wants to ban. about more and more americans owning firearms, they own more guns because with the defined the police movement they've had to get a gun to defend themselves. if the government can't defend me, i want to be able to defend my family and myself and to do that i want to firearm i don't want these restrictions. i want to be able to do with the way i see fit. >> juan: all right. papers are reporting that the department of homeland security is shifting more or less emphasis on foreign terraces to domestic terrorism. people with guns attacking. what do you make of that? is that the right move? >> greg: i don't know. my feeling on gun control if that's what we are talking about is it's dead you know who killed it? democrats and the left. they did more to protect the second amendment this past year than the nra ever could by excusing mob violence, defending looting as a source of reparations by equating criminals to law-abiding citizens and police as terrorists while mocking actual gun owners. you built the case for a fully armed society. billions and damage across the country. just forgotten. you created a viselike grip on people like me. if you see a crime is justified and the police are not, where do i go? "usa today" taking a look at their toxic workplace. current and former employees "described a workplace where women in key positions were sidelined and where sexist and homophobic language was used by those in leadership post." it is still crickets from the media who has refused to press the group's members on these scandals during their numerous cable news hits. this keeps getting on leader. >> dana: i think there's probably a lot more to come. pay attention. i think there's a lot of republicans watching and may be taking a bit of pleasure and the destruction of this group because they really held themselves up to be morally superior to everyone else. they were sanctimonious. they were smug. the thing i don't understand is they lost seven of the senate races that they targeted. seven. 0 for 7. they are not that great and now they are turning on each other. i would also point out that there are questions about financial improprieties and there are some really smart young thoughtful law enforcement folks in utah. someone like shawn agnew, the attorney general, might be wanting to know what was happening in their own backyard there in park city. >> katie: yap. greg, the cofounders of the lincoln project did almost two dozen interviews and they were never pressed about the john weaver allegations and that we have the financial allegations. the media love these guys. now they don't really want to ask questions. >> greg: it's a great scandal. you've got corruption. you've got creeps. you've got sex. one founder is getting handouts on the other founder is getting hand -- some interns. it's a perfect example of how the strange no respect theory falls apart. the lincoln project was greeted with open arms by the democrats. the lincoln project love their new allies. it's a strange new respect you get from your new friends. once they're done using you up, they toss you aside so they actually knew all of this stuff. this is what makes the press worse. they knew about this stuff but figured they can use these guys for another couple months and once they didn't need them the story came out, upi or ap runs the story. everybody knew this. i love the people that were. for more than us, trump was a cash cow for even his haters. you can mention his name and wallets would open like bathrobes at a sauna. >> katie: juan, your thoughts?
