Nez is a Democrat who will seek to unseat incumbent Republican Eli Crane, right-wing conservative, in the election in November 2024. Nez served as president of the Navajo Nation until January 10, 2023. Elected president of the Navajo Nation in 2019, Nez through his decisive and compassionate leadership led the Navajo people through the COVID-19 pandemic.
