Fairfield Public School District 112 Meeting Recap for April

The Fairfield Public School District Unit 112 Board met Monday Evening at Center Street School. Looking at the treasurer's report, the Education Fund $3,778,901.91, Building Fund $766,059.91, Debt Services Fund $160,359.22, Transportation Fund $255,190.39, IMRF Fund $410,682.22, Capital Projects $ 16,352.46, Working Cash Fund $1,284,312.57, Tort Fund $432,301.94, Fire Prevention/Safety Fund $236,762.75 for a Total $7,340,923.37. Checking items the board took action on, A motion was made by member Shane Neuman to approve the Consolidated District Grant Application as presented. The motion was seconded by member Jason McCulley. The vote was 7-0 on the measure and approved. A motion was made by member Dan Coomer to approve the FY24 Food Service Contract as presented. That motion passed 7-0. A motion was made by member Shane Neuman to deny the Construction Administration/Site Observation Offer as presented. That measure passed 7-0. In the principals report at Center Street School, it was announced the school started a small after school tutoring program for our 7th grade students who are struggling academically. Set to end on Thursday, April 27th.The school held their 8th grade Recognition for our track students on Wednesday, April 12th. 27 8th grade track students were recognized. 4th grade students went to New Harmony for a Field Trip on Thursday, April 13th. The students had a lot of fun, and our teachers received several compliments on how well behaved our students were. A team of 4 students who have advanced on to the ROE Brain Games regionals. It will be at Rend Lake on April 19th. The school will hold their 7th/8th grade dance this Friday at 6pm. There will be several field trips coming up in the next few weeks, so be looking on Facebook and the app for pictures. There is a Conference Scholastic Bowl match coming up on Monday, April 24th @ 4pm and a Regional Scholastic Bowl match on Wednesday, April 26th @ 4:30pm. There will be Conference Track Meet on Wednesday, April 26th @ 1pm. The Band/Choir Spring Concert at Center Street will be on Thursday, April 27th. Center Street School will be holding their 8th Grade Honors Banquet on Tuesday, May 2nd @ 6pm. GPA of 3.5-4.0. Center Street will be holding their Vesper's Ceremony on Sunday, May 7th @ 4pm. The 8th Grade Awards will be on Thursday, May 11th @ 9am with 8th Grade Graduation set for Thursday, May 11th @ 6:30pm. In the principal's report at North Side School, the PTO sponsored egg hunt on April 5th. The PTO will be sponsoring a Movie Night on Friday, April 21. In Team Meetings; Collaboration on moving classrooms for efficient placement of grade levels and taking place. There are also Discussions with a growth mindset on curriculum adjustments. The Pre-K Graduation is May 12 with a field day is May 16. A motion was made by Dan Coomer to re-hire Lori Kovacich and Grace Pollard as long-term substitutes for the month of May. The vote was 6-0 in favor with Shane Neuman absent from the vote. A motion was made by Jason McCulley to hire Jayla Scott as Certified Teacher for the FY24 school year. The measure also approved 6-0 with Shane Neuman absent from the vote. A motion was made by member Amy Sager to hire Sadie Powell as Certified Teacher for the FY24 school year. That vote was 6-0 with Neuman absent. A motion was made by member Heather Trent to hire Cameron Gardner as summer help. The motion was seconded by member Jason McCulley. The vote was 6-0 with Neuman absent. A motion was made by member Jason McCulley to accept the resignation of Amelia Lingafelter as Boys' Track Coach, Bryce Kovacich as Boys' Basketball Coach, and Kelsey Hall as Certified Teacher. The resignations were approved 6-0 with Shane Neuman absent from the vote.
