A wildfire that has currently been listed as out of control in the Hotnarko Creek area west of Williams Lake has prompted an evacuation alert for the Anahim Lake area. The alert in total, covers 143,166 hectares and was issued by the Cariboo Regional District at 5 p.m. yesterday. The fire at Hotnarko Creek was initially discovered back on July 3 and has expanded to cover 950 hectares. The suspected cause of the fire is assumed to be lightning. The CRD has also noted that they issued the evacuation alert for this area because of the potential endangerment to life and health.
