Eating Processed Meat Linked With Higher Heart Disease: Study

Consumption of red and processed meats like pepperoni and bologna may be associated with a slightly higher risk of heart disease and death, according to a large-scale study. The study, published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, found that eating two servings of red meat, processed meat or poultry but not fish per week was linked to a 3 to 7 per cent higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
