right now on cnn this morning the rematch is on joe biden and donald trump clinching their respective nominations as the country prepares for the most grueling, longest presidential campaign. general election ever vladimir putin declaring russia is prepared to use nuclear weapons after the white house announces a new military aid package for ukraine and the house set to vote on a bill that could effectively ban tiktok. but can it pass for donald trump? said he's against it? >> all right, 05:00 a.m. on the east coast. live. look at lady liberty pretty on this wednesday morning >> beautiful. good morning, everyone. i'm kasie hunt. wonderful to have you with us. are you ready for the rematch after last night's primary wins, cnn projects, president biden and donald trump have clinched their respective party nominations, setting up the longest general election jin presidential campaign ever. both candidates quickly releasing videos to try and spread the news. >> we're not going to take time to celebrate. we'll celebrate. and eight months when the election is over november 5th. i believe will go down as the most important day in the history of our okay. country >> protect our brain are you ready to witness? >> we're casting their ballots. former special counsel, robert hur, appeared before the judiciary committee to explain his investigation into president biden's handling of classified documents. her decided against criminal charges, but he triggered a firestorm over his suggestion that the president had as memory issues occur, defendant himself yesterday >> my assessment and the report about the relevance of the president's memory was necessary and accurate and fair all right. joining us to break it all down, senior political reporter for axios eugene scott. eugene. good morning. for voters who apparently don't believe or couldn't believe we were going to get biden trump again, here we are >> what? >> what does it look like? i mean, this is just going to be an incredibly grueling situation for the country. quite honestly the biden team really trying to turn the page here saying we won the her testimony, kind of putting that episode behind them. i mean, what do you expect going forward? >> well, from the biden team, they're going to try to keep building off momentum of the state of the union address, which is why we've seen them hit the campaign trail, really trying to put out ads that pushed back on so many of the narratives that republicans have put forward, saying that biden should not get four more years and just hoping that a lot of the criticism he's received based on age. and of course, gaza and even some things like the economy let me which reports are actually quite different from how the popular public feels about him. they're hoping that their narrative takes. >> so eugene to go to her for a second let's play a little bit more from the hearing yesterday because i will say there seemed to be via sense that everyone kind of got what they wanted out of it. every lose angry at her. republicans took it and put it one way and there was stuff for them to seize on in their democrats focused on in particular the questions around biden's memory of the time his son beau died and basically said, this is all at bogus. this is not what happened. watch a little bit more from the hearing yesterday >> who are republican know aren't you? >> i am a registered republican >> and you're doing everything you can do to get president trump re-elected. >> all i have to do when i'm caught taking home classified materials to say i'm sorry, mr. herbert, but i'm getting old. my memory is not so great. >> congressman. >> this is the doctrine that you've established in our laws now and it's frightening so as you can see, everyone's mad at him. who do you think came out on top here, if anyone? i'm not really sure it was the american public, but setting that aside, i mean politically, what do you, what were your takeaways from what happened yesterday? >> well, it's interesting, you know, the purpose of these so often seems like the goal is to get a viral moment. so you can use it while you're campaigning, or that you can point to it. we're here maybe trying to curry favor with maybe biden or trump, and it's not really clear who actually won, but what is clear is that these early, the early releases of the report, just what's not as extensive as we initially thought or i mean, we respectfully knew that, but i think think a lot of people who ran with the main headline were perhaps a price to find out that it didn't actually say a lot of the things that republicans said they did. and her gave an opportunity to clarify and tried to present himself as the less partisan than people in his party may hits. report seemed to be yeah. i mean, i think it's >> important to underscore that the thing that seemed to make the president most angry about this report was, again the assertion that he couldn't remember when his son, beau died and when you go back and you read fact, we have the transcripts five hours, right? this is what it looks like printed out it's it's actually biden himself that brings this into the conversation. and he's talking about a series of events that happened in a certain period. he does remember the exact day, may 30. and then there are sort of this back-and-forth where someone jumps in and he's kind of like, well, which exact here, 02015 right? the portrait that the transcripts seems to paint of this moment does seem different. >> there was so much context missing, and it reminds me of you remember going all the rallies on the campaign trail. and would you get clips that we share or that hit the social media? and when you look at the clip or read the transcript, more fully, you realize, oh, this perhaps would sound differently if i included this part or if they heard this part. and that's what i think a lot of democrats tried to highlight and even moments where republicans try to get her to even take it further, like the whole bit about whether or not he's seen now, he pushed back on that and made sure that he wasn't further misrepresented. yeah. >> i'll very interesting and of course we haven't haven't heard the last bit if republicans need to say about it, eugene scott. thank you very much for starting us off this morning. i appreciate it. >> up next here are >> the ominous warning from vladimir putin saying russia is ready to use nuclear weapons if it's threatened plus a deadly blast caught on camera, we'll show you this big explosion in china. and ken buck leaving congress and not holding back because he explains why cnn, news central today at seven eastern >> xr take allergy relief works fast and last a full 24 hours, so they can be the deliver, dance okay. dave, let's be more than our allergies. >> seize the >> day with xer tech. >> fashion moves fast >> setting trends is our business >> we need to scale with customer demand in real time so we partner with verizon, their solution for us, a private by g network. >> we now get more control of production efficiencies and greater agility with a custom private 5g network, our customers get what they want when they wanted. >> now, or even smarter and are ready for what's next >> achieve enterprise intelligence. it's your vision, it's your verizon. >> if you have chronic kidney disease, you can reduce the risk of kidney failure with parse sega because they're places you'd like to be for seeker can cause serious side effects, including ketoacidosis that may be fatal, dehydration, urinary tract, or genital yeast infections it's in low blood sugar. a rare life-threatening bacterial infection in the skin of the perineum could occur, stopped taking for sika and call your dr. right away. if you have symptoms of disinfection and allergic the action or ketoacidosis >> at morgan stanley old hard work meets bold new thinking to help you see untapped possibilities. and relentlessly work with you to make them real >> shingles some describe it as an intense burning sensation or an unbearable h. this painful, blistering rant as you can disrupt your life for weeks and couldn't make it hard to be there for your loved ones shingles could also lead to serious complications. they can last for years. if you're overfit if the virus that causes shingles is likely already inside you and as you age, your risk of developing shingles increases. weight. >> asked her, >> dr. or pharmacy just about shingles today. >> my name is marie and 49 years old and i'm a business owner. i owned a lemonade and ice cream shop in florida, so i can feel and see that my lines have gotten deeper just from a year out in the sun i've still murray and i got botox cosmetic i did not want to dramatic change. i wanted something subtle and a really, really happy with the results. >> it's still me, but with fewer lines botox cosmetic is fda approved to temporarily make frown lines cross feed, and for headlines, look better. the effects of botox cosmetically spread hours to weeks after injection. causing serious symptoms. alert your dr. right away. as difficulty swallowing, speaking, breathing, i problems or muscle weakness, maybe a sign of a life-threatening condition do not receive botox cosmetic if you have a skin infection side effects may include allergic reactions injection site pain, headache, eyebrow, eyelid, drooping eyelid swelling. tell your dr. about your medical history, muscle or nerve conditions and medications including botulinum toxins, as these may increase the risk of serious side effects. see for yourself botox cosmetic.com, his style, your home trend >> not for me. now, this is more like same goes for my footwear. why one hands-free with wide fit sketch are slipped and just step in and go without bending down i'm for touching my shoes widespread hands-free skechers slip in with nortech ott. i can treat and prevent my migraine attacks all in one. >> don't take an allergic to no-tech. allergic reactions can occur even days after using most common side effects were nausea, indigestion, and stomach pain. >> tough >> to your dr. about your tech today >> so would you get to nashville hot tenders and three mandarin orange tenders? >> well, he's the strongman. he's emphasizing that to the russian public to get the vote out for him. of course, he's going to win the election, but it'd be great for him to have a great turnout on a big result. and he's not to be messed with. he's going to protect the people of russia he will also be aware that this is the one issue that i think particularly here in europe. the general public freak out about the idea that he could fire off nuclear weapons. so it's unnerving to the general public in the countries that he feels threatened by. >> yeah max, this of course all looming as the general election here in the us is officially joined with both donald trump and joe biden clinching their respective nominations. this obviously the aid package that the biden administration is getting out the door is obviously, i'm kinda getting creative with some of the accounting that seems like it's not something that would happen under a trump administration. in fact, the hungarian prime minister viktor orban said this week, he met with trump. remember, on friday at mar-a-lago that trump told him, quote, he would not give a single penny to kyiv and just to reminder, here's what trump had to say about or ban watch this is the way it's going to be in this. he had a great leader, fantastic leader, europe over the world, their respective >> so the message here seems pretty clear who gets elected there's no more money coming from america for this. what does that mean? >> i don't know. does it mean that he said it one-on-one with orban and it's sort of thing that orban would want to hear because it's a similar view that he shares. i think orban is he's a right-wing pin up here in europe and donald trump does have this history, doesn't really associating with right-wing strong man, and he's certainly one of those let's see if he refuses to send money to ukraine. i mean, a lot of the language does point that way, but he'll also be aware that it does create a counter threat to the us if he allows russia to push through, you wonder if he can he feels that with putin, he can resolve this ukrainian crisis and take away the threat to the us uk. see, i've learned not to rely on exactly. what trump says and what he does so how does this all tie together? i don't know. >> yeah, that's fair. although i have to say putin has become something of a folk hero in some conservative circles. i mean the republican ucla republicans tweeted an image earlier this week that had conservatives like great conservatives. i forgot their exact language. i'm being a little imprecise, but the pictures were very clear with donald trump, xi jinping, and vladimir putin in the same image max, not to make a hard turn, but i have to say, i mean, i've been you and i've been on whatsapp talking about this and i know your vacation got cut short because of the shear ineptitude of buckingham palace and kensington palace, i guess i should be more precise in that as well. what is the next turn of this story with the princess of wales when are we going to find out where she actually is? why are we not seeing her? >> i mean, can we still trust the palace at this point? >> there's a question >> yeah. they've always been in i've been doing this a long time and they're working with the palaces and they've always been very reliable and generally they give accurate information. of course, there's spin to what they give you, but in terms of the information they give you it tends to be accurate. now there are two sides to this posting. an image of your family to social media, which a lot of people would say yeah you can touch it. up you can use a filter, you can crop it. you want to look good. that's how, how the system works. but this wasn't just posted to social media. it was also sent out as an editorial image to news organizations like cnn. that image clearly was edited and manipulate not just edited, so it wasn't just a filter it wasn't just cropping it, it was manipulated. and there were parts of the four people in this image who had been moved and we've got it wasn't in our view, a true reflection of exactly what happened in that moment. so therefore, it's not a news picture we had to call it out of course, this could have been a very minor touch-up which any mother would do to make their family look great. but there is a line in terms of journalism and afp news agency of spoken about that from their point of view, they feel a line in journalism was crossed. so it is more complex than you see it also feeds into all the conspiracy theories that there's been a cover up here. and i don't think any of those are going to be laid to rest until we actually see her back on engagements. and all we know is that's going to happen around east, but no confirmation of that. but just imagine kasie, the frenzy of cameras are going to turn up to that i really can't imagine we have what, two weeks or so until two-and-a-half weeks until easter. so have fun internet in the intervening time. max foster live for us in london. you can do anything. i appreciate it. thanks for being here. >> casey all right. up next here, safety issues at boeing forcing major airline to cut back on hiring plus, we'll house republicans vowed a trump before voting later today on a tiktok ban the, right age for neutrogena retina. >> that's whenever you want it to be. >> it has germ proven retina. >> the targets vital cell turnover, even skin tone and smooths fine lines with visible results in just one week, neutrogena retinol. >> so would you get to nashville hot tenders and three mandarin orange tender? >> yeah, it's not just critical, it's actually been raised to an extreme level today. and that's saying something storm prediction center doesn't use that kind of categorical rating for a fire. weather conditions, unless it means business and what they've said exclusively within there their reporting about this, the discussion is that the fuels, the dry conditions on the ground near the texas panhandle have actually dried out from what we experienced a couple of weeks ago when the smokehouse creek fire exploded in growth in just that 48 hour period. that's why we're showing you this multi-day tampon time-lapse just to remind you of what happened there they say that fuel loading could lead to widespread fire spread and conditions today. and that is all just being fueled by the strong winds that will be present across the panhandle. the dry air that is in this region, the timber box conditions. and of course, the hot weather that is but just adding fuel to the flame, no pun intended. so the smokehouse creek fire not yet 100% contained. that's concerning because that means there are literally embers still burning within these two fires. the windy deuce fire to the south and west of it. and it doesn't take much. let's say winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour to take one of those embers and spread it and create further fires down the line. now, part of a larger storm system that is creating the wins over the planes are snowfall and this is a major snowstorm for the denver region, but more particularly the palmar divide and also the front range. so anywhere along interstate 25, is 70 going east and west, it will be extremely difficult called travel conditions from thursday into friday morning and then on top of that, were also spin spinning off the queue a few stronger thunderstorms today, heads-up, slight risk, kansas city today. but look at that. we have a moderate risk as we head into the day tomorrow. so something we're going to be monitoring for several days. so very active weather pattern to say to lease from fires to snow, to severe weather, to round it all up. >> casey, you got it all. >> our weatherman van dam, derek. thank you very much. tied to you soon. >> all right. up next here. joe biden and donald trump clinching their nominations and preparing for the longest presidential campaign ever. plus more political fallout from special counsel robert hur's testimony on capitol hill >> did you find it the president was senile? >> congressman politics played no part whatsoever in my investigative steps. all i have to do >> when i'm caught taking home classified materials to say i'm sorry, mr. herbert, but i'm getting old. my memories not so great. >> congressman. >> this is the doctrine that you've established in our laws now and it's frightening >> congress in my intent, is certainly not to establish any sort of doctrine some pro tip don't take classified documents home, just just don't do it. here's how her defended his investigation >> so i can assure you and i can tell you that partisan politics had no place whatsoever in my work it had no place in the investigative steps that i took. it had no place in the decision that i made and a dead no place in a single word of my report >> okay. >> the special counsel hearing took place as the presidential race was unfolding. voters were voting president biden and donald trump clinched their respective nominations it's after last night's primary wins in georgia, mississippi, and washington state. this sets up the longest general election in a presidential campaign that america has ever seen. let's bring in the boston globe, washington bureau chief jackie kucinich and furniture mary, she's congressional reporter for the associated press. ladies, thank you so much for being here. you guys were both on the hill hill. yesterday is my understanding, for newish robert hur's seemed to come in for it from all sides, right? there was some that everybody in his testimony but also he clearly, i mean, if you read his opening statement, he knew he wasn't the sympathetic figure in the room. what was the vibe check up there? >> no, it was not a good advice if at all in the room, i mean, usually these hearings right. there's republican witnesses, there's democratic witnesses, there's a special counsel that's investigating the president of the other party and there's some reprieve for the guy. there's moments where they talk about how great his work is, how happy they are that he did the work. and there was a few moments of levity but mostly i mean, he was getting it from both sides and it was stunning to watch that he was screwed. if you do screwed, if you don't have a thing or not charging him and for charging him. so i mean, what he tried to do over and over again is obviously stick really closely to the report because the transcript came out a few hours before the hearing, and obviously that was much more enlightening to the public than his report had been, right? >> well, jackie raised i mean, the transcript itself raised all kinds of questions about the initial read of the hur report, right? i mean, we did learn that it was her who brought up excuse me, it was president biden who brought up bow was not her. i mean, president biden was very if vatican ii that per had brought it up in that press conference. turns out that's not the case. however, was also clear from the transcript that biden remember the date of his son's death? he needed a little bit of help in terms of the exact year, but he was in the right vicinity. democrats seized on all of this and said the hur report is not true, that press coverage around it was not true >> who do you think >> this doesn't feel clear to me at all. it feels very muddy and confusing. mean who who do you think actually cut through if anyone >> so i think this i think what this did is it further it made it made the jump justice department look political through the lens of that, the congress casted it yesterday, right? we saw this during the trump administration. we saw this. and i think it really continued yesterday, democrats were trying to walk the line of b, of saying that the justice department is an entity that is not involved in politics. and yet, you did see people like shift, some of the other members of the committee, and frankly, some of the republicans really tried to turn this into a partisan battle. and part of that is the judiciary committee. let's just say that because it is it does tend to be a rock. i'm sorry. i'm kind of place but that erosion that you've seen that hasn't that that has continued really. >> i saw that as a thread. >> it going from bill barr to where we are now. >> all right. i also >> want to pull this in the conversation because conservative congressman ken buck made this surprise announcement yesterday that we knew he was going to leave congress but now he's piecing out at the end of next week, the colorado republican did not hold back when it came to explaining why he was leaving, blaming dysfunction on the hill but a lot of this is personal. that's the problem. instead of having to khorram instead of operating in a professional manner, displaces just devolved moved into this bickering and nonsense and not not really doing the job for the american people. >> is it that bad that you're saying? >> i'm done? >> it is the word she year of the nine years and three months that i've been in congress. and having talked to former members, it's the worst year and 40, 50 years to be in congress he of course talking to our dana bash there, his decision to step down is going to trim the republicans razor-thin majority in the house to just five. and that means republicans can only afford to lose two votes to pass any legislation along party lines this is also guys, what buck told reporters according jackie alimony our reporter on capitol hill, we can put it up here. both elaborated on his news with reporters just now, quote, we've taken impeachment and we've made it a social media issue as opposed to a constitutional concept. this place keeps going downhill and i don't need to spend more time here i mean, for knew, she said out loud what a lot of people are thinking privately. yeah. i mean, i was i was in that scrum and, you know, at one point someone said, is it really that bad? i mean, don't you think this will make things worse if people like you have moderates of people unwilling to, you know, just follow along in party-line leave. and he said, why don't you run too? the reporters so i think he's at a point that he feels that he i mean, obviously he's facing vitriol from leadership for difficult votes. he's had to make on mayorkas. he's been really critical of the biden impeachment and continues to talk about that. but i think it's i think it's fascinating with more people like ken buck leave like what does the republican party on the house look like? well, it just >> shows that john, that speaker johnson absolutely has no juice and no loyalty among some of these members. i mean, he was sighted >> i mean, already even as before he announced, so you left them a voicemail. >> i mean, that is not what you >> do to a leader that you believe in. if you're a member of congress and that's what i took from this because if you keep on pressuring people and you keep on putting the screws and people like ken, buck and some of these other members that don't want to fall in line on some of these more these issues that aren't necessarily something they need to do and need to pass. this is what's going to happen because they're unhappy >> and then you end up with the teeny a majority basically in name only. i mean, for i have to say look, congress comes in for criticism on the regular, always has, always will. but the level of dysfunction that we are seeing from this particular congress. i mean, there's a text flying around the hill from a democrat who clearly had sent it to multiple people the basically just said like why don't you hand us the majority for a little while. i mean, like i talked to who feel like they can't there's nothing moving. so there's nothing at all that they can get done. i mean, is there a solution here? mean is there anything that the congress is going to accomplish between now and the elections? >> i mean, it seems he was like the only thing that they be they will do is banned tiktok, which is stunning to think about it, this is the most ineffective congress and in our, in modern history, and the one thing that they're focusing dead-on is banning an app that 170 million young people and small businesses and voters use, right before the election. so that is the priorities are kind of stunning when you consider how slim that majority is, when you consider the fact that they're really likely to lose it to them and crafts in november well, here we are got eight more months of this guys come back jackie kucinich furnished you, mary. thanks very much. thank. >> all right. coming up here, legendary coach nick saban tells congress why he gave up the game. he loves plus congressman jake auchincloss of massachusetts joins us live on cnn this morning. we're going to talk to him about that upcoming house vote to ban tiktok the right age for neutrogena retina. >> that's whenever you want it to be. >> it has germ proven retina. >> the >> targets vital cell turnover, even skin tone and smooths fine lines with visible results in just one week neutrogena retinol fashion moves fast >> setting trends is our business. >> we need to scale with customer demand in real time >> so we partner with verizon, their solution for us, a private by jean >> we now get more control of production efficiencies and greater agility with a custom private 5g network, our customers get what they want when they want it. >> now, or even smarter and are ready for what's next? i mean, we have seen some progressive opposition to it. we've seen president trump essentially flip-flop on a tiktok ban. is that influencing republicans? how do you see this playing out today? >> can't speak to trump's influence on republicans. that's always an open question i do think he was going to pass the house of representatives with a strong bipartisan majority and to be clear, it's not a ban, it's a forced sale. and the reason the for sale i think is the appropriate measure here is that congress needs to hold social media corporations accountable. you need to hold them accountable for their effect on kids mental health i'm the youngest pair and the democratic caucus, i spent a lot of time talking to fellow parents both inside the chamber, but more importantly, in my district. and what i hear is a tremendous amount of anxiety about the effect that not just tiktok, but twitter, instagram, youtube, meta are having on their kids attention spans, socioemotional development, cognitive development, and i hear that from kids to congress needs to step up, regulate these corporations on behalf of american parents. but we can't do that if they're answering disease jing ping not to congress, right? >> well, i mean, what, what do you see is the difference between american backed platforms like meta and and tiktok because the big argument that mike gallagher, for example, republican congressman who's been leading the charge on this says is that there's a national security problem here that china is able to influence. how our young people are thinking. >> there is a national security problem i actually think that's secondary, but chairman gallagher is correct. tiktok's algorithm, tiktok's data, which includes personally identifiable information about americans, is subject under chinese law to the control decision ping. and that's not ambiguous. that is chinese law that says if z jinping wants it, he gets it and they can control that algorithm to amplify certain types of conduct ten and suppress other types of content. i mean, try posting about the ethnic cleansing and xinjiang province and see how many likes you get on tiktok. it's just not going to happen. so there's >> no doubt that they mentioned the word uyghurs surfaced. know there's no doubt that there is political interference there, but actually, to me, that's secondary i'm just as interested in regulating meta and twitter and instagram and youtube as i am in tiktok, the differences, those are american companies already subject to us law. tiktok is not, we need to hold all of big tech accountable for the effective had on platforming disinformation for the effect of that, they've had on kids mental health for the effect that they've had in our civil discourse, they need to be reined in just it's like we put incense put in place, common sense regulations for linear tv and print media, all respecting the first amendment, but just guardrails fair enough. >> do you take on your phone? i do not. >> i finally put it on mine after years of my work phone only, but still some of these things that are coming out about it makes me nervous. do you think there's a risk to democrats? let me show you what your colleague maxwell frost had to say about this watch i don't think it'll be helpful with young voters, but my argument here, yes, it has to do with young people, but taking a >> step back, i just think it's bad policy and fixing this problem that we do have to fix he of course, the first i believe gen z, member of congress do you think there's a problem for democrats if the president signs this bill? >> i haven't looked at opinion polls on it. >> i don't >> know when i prefer not to let opinion polls drive the policy that we make in congress. i think it's incumbent upon us as policymakers to say, we've got access to information and experts, we have made this informed judgment and now let's go out and try to explain why we think it. and if american voters are going to push back hard on, that, we'll get that feedback but i'm going out into my district over the next several months and saying i've heard from you as parents and kids that you're concerned about the effects that social media screen time is having on your family time. here's what we're trying to do about it. yeah. all right. fair enough. let's talk a little bit about ukraine. the administration has announced they're going to send another $300 million. they claim that they've found it in savings from weapons contracts after they had previously said that the money wasn't there. do you support their move to do this? and also, there is a discharge petition, your leader, hakeem jeffries is encouraging democrats to sign onto that from grossman, mcgovern, some progressives including pramila jayapal have expressed opposite position to that. do you support the discharge petition? and what do you think the best way is to get this money to ukraine? >> yes, i support the president's $300 million to ukraine. they need every day that the thing they can get as a stopgap measure, but we need the full 60 billion to help them continue this fight. and for that reason, i signed the discharge petition yesterday i don't agree with progressives who are not signing onto that discharge petition over concerns about israel, even if they are not ultimately going to vote on the final legislation, they can still help put that legislation on the floor for an up or down vote. we have to allow the people's house to work its will because speaker johnson is too afraid of donald trump to do so >> congressman, i also wanted to talk about something that i know is important to you. you're running for reelection and you have formed a new pac called beyond thoughts and prayers. thoughts and prayers, obviously something we see a lot of on social media in the wake of school shootings and other mass shootings at told me a little bit about why this is what you're focused on here as you, as you mount your reelection campaign >> my worst day in congress was not january 6. my worst day in congress was the night of uvalde and i've got three little kids and i thought about those parents identifying their children by their shoes. and i was so angry and upset and i just felt like we need to politicize this issue. people keep on saying no, you can't put a size this issue sen. thoughts and prayers. it's a mental health challenge and it's just a cop-out and it's the republicans caving in to the gun lobby. we have got to put this issue on the ballot across the country. we have to support democrats whose profile, who's experienced, whose passion supports gun violence legislation. so that we can ban assault weapons so that we can require safe storage keep kids safe from there. leading cause of death. so that we can stop shielding gun manufacturers from prosecution. that the only industry in america that can't be sued for the misuse of their wares. it's an abomination. all of this stuff has majority support from americans. it now needs majority support in congress. >> do you feel think this is an issue that is a totally safe one for democrats across the country to run on if you're looking at like senator jon tester for example, in montana, i mean, there have been some situations where gun reforms have honestly been stopped because there have been democrats within nervous about their position. it's evolved in recent years. i'm curious how far you think it's changed? >> different democrats are going to talk about it differently in rural states versus more urban states for sure. >> but i think >> the messenger matters. i'm a marine officer. i slept eight train patrolled with an assault weapon for four-and-a-half years. part of the reason i'm taking on this issue as i do think i can go into purple and red districts and make the case that we're not going after the individual right to bear arms. i respect weapons, but weapons need to be used respectfully and no civilian needs to have an assault weapon. >> all right. congressman jake auchincloss, stay with us. we're going to talk to you again in just a couple of minutes. thank you >> all right. time now for spore, it's former alabama football coach, nick saban says his stuff counting decision to retire in january was in part because the things he loved about college sports no longer exist. carolyn manno has this morning's bleacher report. carolyn, good morning. >> good morning to see changes. a constant, that very few people in college sports have as much influences. nick saban, he's one of the winning is coaches of all time. and while he says he supports student athletes getting paid through name, image, and likeness, endorsement deals. he says today's pay for play culture has gone too far, telling a group of senators on capitol hill yesterday, the change was one of the main factors in his decision to step away from the sport. >> all the things i believed them for all these years, 50 years of coaching no longer exist in college athletics. so it's all about developing players. it was always about helping people move more successful in life. my wife even said to me, we'd have all the recruits over on sunday someday with their parents for breakfast. and she will always meet with the mothers and talk about how she was going to help and impact are suns and how they would be well taken care of and she came to me like right before i retire and said, mark, why are we doing this i said, what do you mean she said all they care about is how much you got to pay them. they don't care about how you're going to develop them, which is what we've always don. so why are we doing this >> saban added he doesn't believe athletes should be considered school employees, but there needs to be some sort of system or guidelines in place. a federal judge last month blocked the end of life from enforcing some of its rules on nil and transfer deals as part of a larger lawsuit against the organization elsewhere this morning, some murky on rookie card prime here in the nba, bucks guard andre jackson, junior soaring for the put facts, land downs, we go high, he got his chest level with the rim or jalen slawson getting a knee to the back?
