Courtesy-Sheriff Myers FB page COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Chris Lane, has thrown his hat into the ring for Bartholomew County Sheriff in the 2022 election. Lane, if elected, would succeed Sheriff Matt Myers. Lane’s law enforcement career started with the Columbus Police Department, where he spent more than 20 years. He was appointed Chief Deputy Sheriff in 2015. He graduated from Vincennes University, completed coursework at Indiana University and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and is a 2018 graduate of the FBI National Academy. In his role as Chief Deputy, he has been responsible for the operation of the JNET (Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team) as well as coordinating multi-agency cooperative efforts including the joint City/County SWAT team.
