A resolution may be in sight for an issue that the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has been wrestling with for months. Since the summer, the assembly has been trying to hammer out changes and clarifications to the boroughâs contract with Alaska Waste for garbage collection and hauling. An amendment to the contract went before the assembly in early December, but it was tabled until it could be changed again. Then, Borough Mayor Bill Roberts formed a subcommittee on the matter made up of assembly members Aimee Williams, Geoff Smith and Scott Arndt. The three of them have worked with borough staff and Alaska Waste to come up with a new amendment to the contract that was released to the public on Jan. 21.Â
