is it landmark? it's his first visit to the muslim—majority region forfive years. the visit comes ahead of india's national election, which begins next month and stretches into may. thousands of extra from her role at red bull racing earlier today. and now our understanding is that that is linked to the outcome of the investigation that carried out by an external barrister brought in by red bull, the parent company, into the allegations of inappropriate behaviour that she'd made against horner, who she was working with at the formula i team. a red bull racing spokesperson said us today that the company cannot comment on this internal matter. now, last week, red bull — this is the team's parent company — announced that the grievance against horner had been dismissed following what it called a rigorous investigation, but it made clear that the complainant did have a right of appeal. there was then a leak of alleged text messages purporting to involve christian horner. now, he has tried to maintain a business—as—usual approach to his work as team principal and chief executive of red bull racing, despite intense scrutiny and calls for more transparency on the investigation by fellow team principals and partners of red bull racing. but he was at the bahrain grand prix last weekend, which was won by red bull racing. he cut a defiant figure there as he appeared alongside his spice girl wife, geri homer, and he said to reporters that he would be remaining as team principal and chief executive and that he retained the support of the team's partners and stakeholders. we also heard from jos verstappen, the father of the team's driver, max verstappen, who said that this whole controversy was driving the team apart. yesterday, max verstappen appeared at a press conference and said that his father wasn't a liar. now, we are due to hear from christian horner later today ahead of this weekend's saudi arabia grand prix. still to come on the world today — why fat labradors climate service — says the average global temperature was more than 1.7 celsius above pre—industrial levels. heat records have now been broken every month since lastjune. here's our climate editorjustin rowlatt. spring begins when the magnolia trees bloom, according to cornish tradition, and spring came early in cornwall and the rest of europe this year. temperatures across the continent this february were almost 3 degrees above average. the exceptional warm weather the world experienced last month did not surprise climate scientists. it coincides with a near—record increase in co2 concentrations in the atmosphere. the link between co2 and rising temperatures is well established and this year, global temperatures got an extra boost thanks boost thanks to el nino, which brings warmer water to the surface of parts of the tropical pacific. that explains why february was 1.77 degrees warmer than preindustrial temperatures, and why global average temperatures hit a record 1.55 degrees above preindustrial levels over the last 12 months. it means we have temporarily at least breached the 1.5 degrees threshold the world agreed to try and limit temperature rise to, to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. february 2024 was the warmest february on record globally, with an average temperature of 13.54 degrees, above the 1991—2020 temperature. while this is remarkable, because, for instance, it is a tenth of a degree warmer than the warmest previous february, which was 2016, it's not really surprising, because this has been the el nino year, where temperatures tend to be warmer than usual, and more importantly, and more importantly, we have seen over the last few decades a piling up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere which bring up the temperature of the entire planet. we all enjoy warm weather, especially after the downpours this winter, but we should worry when the seasons get out of whack. some plants and animals can struggle to survive. struggle to survive, though scientists say urgent action to cut emissions can still slow warming. justin rowlatt, bbc news. now, this might sound like science fiction — ships sailing the seas with hardly any crew — or even no—one on—board at all. but this its happening now, a number of companies but this its happening now. a number of companies are working on robotic vessels that they say could revolutionise shipping. our science editor rebecca morelle has this exclusive report on the sea trials in norway. what you're looking at is a vision of the future — a ship that needs only a few people on board to sail it, and that can be controlled from anywhere in the world. the vessel is being put through its paces in a norwegian fjord. the vessel's being put through its paces in a norwegian fjord. the company behind this, ocean infinity, are building a fleet of 23 of these. they're being used for survey work for offshore wind farms and the oil and gas industry. we fitted this vessel with extra sensors, extra servers, extra cabling, extra information systems. this is definitely going to be a revolution. there's almost no part of our operation which is going to be untouched by our approach to making it more robotic. this ship is 78 metres long, and usually, a vessel like this would have a crew of a0 or 50 people. but this is operating with just 16. instead, some of the jobs are being carried out by a crew more than 700 miles away. they're in a remote control centre, which in this case is in southampton. and this is that control room. everything you can see from on board the ship, you can see here on these screens. and as more and more of the vessels come into operation, all of these will start filling up. eventually, even the captain could be here, in charge of multiple ships in oceans around the world. for now, though, it's tasks like watch keeping or launching underwater robots. it's exciting to know that there's an opportunity for me to work on shore and still be involved in exciting projects. you can do almost everything that you do on the vessel. you can move around, you can steer it, you have cameras, you can see the cameras here. some vessels are sailing with no—one on board at all. this boat is being tested in plymouth sound and its crew is in an office in aberdeen. could you show us how you can control it from here? like, could we do a figure of eight or something like that? yeah, let's do a figure of eight. so, now i'm moving forward, - i'm sending a command going forward. the captain has precise control of the boat in real time. that looks pretty good to me! it's definitely an eight. but with recent concerns about problems like piracy, experts are looking at which safety issues need addressing for regulating robotic vessels. the problem here is what happens if somebody hacks into the remote control centre and gets hold of the ship and direct it somewhere else? that is a major issue. how this will all be regulated in the context of international law needs to be seen. on the dockside in norway, the next ship is being fitted out. the industry is gearing up for change, because the next wave of shipping is already here. rebecca morelle, bbc news. let's share one of the most—read stories on our website, involving dogs and diets. scientists in the uk say that a genetic mutation makes some labradors and flat—coated retrievers
