declared the winner. the army has nominated the head of the presidential guard as the leader during a transition period. the head of the african union commission has strongly condemned the attempted coup. this is the moment the military made the announcement of the takeover on national television. translation: in the name of the people of gabon - and as guarantors of the institutions, we have decided to defend peace by putting an end to the current regime. to this end, the general elections of 26th august 2023 and the truncated results are cancelled. the borders are closed until further notice. all the institutions of the republic are dissolved. for context, gabon is a former french colony located on the west coast of central africa. the electoral commission said president bongo had won just under two—thirds of the votes in an election the opposition argued was fraudulent. concerns over delays in returning the election results led to an internet shutdown, and a night—time curfew by the government. mr bongo came to power when his father omar died in 2009. if he has been overthrown, it would end his family's 53—year hold on power in gabon. for more on that, we are joined now by causing many storm surges and there is the risk that low lying areas will be overcome. that has the latest on hurricane idalia. we will bring you more as we get it. the duke of sussex has described his emotional "unravelling" after he returned from military service in afghanistan in 2013. in a netflix documentary series about the invictus games, prince harry says he found the deployment triggering, bringing to the surface the trauma of losing his mother, princess diana, at the age of 12. let's hear some of what he had to say: i can only speak from my personal experience, my tour of afghanistan in 2012 flying apaches. somewhere after that, there was an unravelling. the trigger to me was actually returning from afghanistan, but the stuff that was coming up was from the age of... from 1997, from the age of 12. losing my mum at such a young age. live now to kevin porter, hypnotherapist and coach, also author of the book called "fearless — the diary of an 18—year—old at war in the falklands." thank you very much forjoining us. prince harry really bring some attention here to the idea that events like war can trigger memories of personal tragedies. help us understand what you know her and have studied about that.— understand what you know her and have studied about that. thank you for havin: have studied about that. thank you for having me- _ have studied about that. thank you for having me. the _ have studied about that. thank you for having me. the triggers - have studied about that. thank you for having me. the triggers for - for having me. the triggers for trauma and ptsd can be many and it is very difficult to find the root cause, but talking and therapy, hypnotherapy, unconscious mind therapy, etc, things that i use, can't get to root cause and find what helped to create that trauma. what harry said was his trigger was coming back from afghanistan. and at the events of trauma were not so much about the afghan war itself, but about losing his mother. so sitting somewhere in his amygdala and unconscious mind is at the memories of everything that went on sadly that september day way back when. and that created... helped expand the triggers and create more of his traumas. it is known that the traumas can be created at an early age, even when you're in the womb. as simple as your living in that beautiful loving cocoon, you hear raised voices, arguments outside, and at the baby will react to that. and then later, when something terrible happens, that then creates the reactions it does with ptsd. it is extraordinary to think that trauma can stretch that far back. just talk to us about why it is so important to find the cause of the trauma, and is it difficult to do? it is very difficult to do, yeah. this is what i would say with the way i work as i work with the unconscious mind and do it any very gentle, calm, safe way using programme called sino therapy, which is an advanced form of hypnotherapy and various other protocols —— sanothera py. protocols —— sanotherapy. talking about the issues and are finding where you believe you're coming from can really help you. back in 2007, after the falklands war, which is where mine started, i went back to the falklands on a pilgrimage with combat stress and there we got a lot of help by going back lane ghosts to rest and remembering and experiencing the environment —— lane ghosts to rest. it helped but triggered more for me. what really set me on was when my wife gave birth to my beautiful twin children, holly and ethan. i went down at the business end and there was all this blood and everything else on the floor, which took me right back to 1982 when one of my friends got shot on the deck of a ship and all his blood was on the floor. that triggered that. finding the actual cause is also a big problem. you have to go very deep to find the actual cause. have to go very deep to find the actual cause-— actual cause. yes. a really interesting _ actual now. excuse the puns! a bun—fight going on in the us — burger king is facing a lawsuit that alleges it makes its whopper burger appear larger in its ads than it is in reality. the class action law suit claims the fast food giant cheated customers, by showing burgers that "overflow over the bun". burger king told the bbc that "the claims are false." our reporter callum tulley has more. this is how burger king have been advertising their whoppers — beef overflowing the bun, sauce oozing out of the centre and salad stacks. but according to some customers, at least, they've been receiving whoppers that appear a lot more like this. and that is causing problems. so much so that burger king is facing a lawsuit which accuses them of misleading their customers. it claims that the whopper is made to look 35% larger with more than double the amount of meat compared to what's actually served. now, burger king say they're not obliged to deliver burgers that appear exactly as they do in the picture and that the flame—grilled beef patties portrayed in their advertising are the same patties used in the millions of whopper sandwiches they serve to guests. roy altman, however, the judge in this case says it should be up to jurors to tell us what reasonable people think now. burger king aren't the only ones who've been accused of this kind of things. and actually, just last year, a customer of two of their rivals, mcdonald's and wendy's, was so incensed that he received burgers that didn't match up to how they were advertised, that he tried to sue $50 million worth of damages for himself and other guests. so clearly, this isn't a very isolated case, and you don't have to look far on social media to find other burger—lovers having beef with some of the big fast food chains. but in their view, it is entirely reasonable and to be expected, actually, that the burgers you order don't always appear exactly as advertised. callu m callum tulley there. a super blue moon will be with enthusiasm for that supermoon that we now know is not blue! stay with us here on bbc news. hello. it's a day of sunny spells and scattered cumulus clouds, with a few showers as well. overall, not a bad day, and for many of us, actually, skies like this, so a fine day. however, tomorrow, we are expecting some thicker cloud and rain in one or two places. so here's the forecast, then, for the rest of the day. you can see just a scattering of showers here and there. these are the temperatures into the afternoon — around 18 for glasgow and about 20 or so in london. it's just a fraction below the average. now tonight we've got the super blue moon on the way. why is it a super blue moon? well, super because it's very close to the earth and it'll appear large, and it's a blue moon because it's the second full moon of the month, which happens once in a blue moon. so, of course, we want some clear weather tonight. it won't be completely clear. there is a weather front approaching, and here it is on the satellite picture. we're just ahead of this weather system and i think there's enough of a gap, enough of a weather window to catch that super blue moon. so let's have a look at the forecast for this evening. here's the weather front approaching ireland. at this stage, you'll be able to see the super blue moon, particularly across central and eastern areas. but then, by the early hours of the morning, it turns wet across southwestern parts of the uk. 12 in plymouth, but elsewhere for the north and east there will be a nip in the airfirst thing on thursday. now, lots of sunshine across northern and eastern areas, but out towards the west we've got thicker cloud and also outbreaks of rain for a time across southern areas. some of this rain, at times, could be heavy, could even be thundery, and it will be a cool day, disappointing — 15 maybe in the midlands, a little bit warmer there, i think, in northern scotland because we'll have more sunshine. and it will take time for this rain to clear away. in fact, it's still hugging the south coast of england on thursday. here's friday afternoon. eventually it pulls away towards the east and then we're left with sunny spells and, again, a scattering of showers. temperatures around the high teens or 20 degrees. now, here's the weekend. this jet stream loops around the uk, through scandinavia and back towards the south, and in the middle we have an area of high pressure building and that does bode well for the weekend at least. here's the outlook, then. so the end of the week a little unsettled with a few showers, but then saturday, sunday, monday and into tuesday, the weather is looking not bad at all. bye— bye. live from london, this is bbc news. hurricane idalia makes landfall in florida, with
