elsewhere, a first win for ange postecoglou as spurs beat manchester united in the premier league. also coming up on sportsday... kjt clinging on to the top three — she's one of the british medal hopes as the world athletics championships gets under way. and england's rugby world cup preparations hit the buffers again, with defeat in ireland. hello again. well come along to sportsday this evening. for theirfans back home it's the night before, but for the lionesses it's already the morning after. england are waking up on the day of the women's world cup final knowing that only spain stand between them and a significant slice of history. our sports editor dan roan is in sydney and sent us this report. a strong will and an undying belief. england into the world cup final. this is a tournament the lionesses have had to battle through, overcoming injury, the suspension of a star player... and they go through! ..and a penalty shoot—out. but despite such adversity, the team has prevailed, and now they play the biggest game of their lives. you are about to do something which only one other person in history has done, lead an england team out at a world cup final. how big an honour does it feel? does it feel like a dream? yes, it is massive. i think it's the biggest honour, and it will definitely be a game that will go down in my career as one of the best days. i think being able to walk out in a world cup final is one thing, but to be able to be at the front leading the girls out is another, so just feeling really proud and honoured to be leading them out there. transformed by sarina wiegman into a formidable footballing force, england are hoping to add to their euros triumph last year with their first global title. today in sydney, a full squad trained, including laurenjames, who is available again after serving her two—match ban. and so the stage is set for what will be a momentous occasion. when england's lionesses walk out here at the national stadium in sydney, they will know they are on the brink of sporting immortality. but claiming football's ultimate prize will not be easy. they are about to face the highest ranked team they have met here at this tournament. we know spain, they know us well too. it is a team who are very good in possession, that will be a challenge for us. but they also know when we have possession that we can be really dangerous, so i think it is going to be a really tight game, and i hope that everyone will enjoy it. it is clear who i hope is going to win. today in brisbane, sweden beat co—hosts australia in the third fourth play—off. what a finish! a match england have had to contest at the last two world cups as losing semifinalists. here they've gone one better. the challenge now, to secure their place in history. dan roan, bbc news, sydney. while plenty have made the trip to see the final in sydney tomorrow, the prince of wales has apologised for not being one of them. queen letizia is going to watch spain, but william, who is also the president of the fa did send this message to the lionesses. lionesses, we want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow. we're sorry we can't be there in person. but we're so proud of everything you've achieved and the millions you've inspired here and around the world. so go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves. good luck, lionesses! england's lionesses take on spain in what is both teams* first final in the women's event. shaimaa khalil looks at spain's dramaticjourney to the world cup final and how this tournament has inspired young players. and done! gabi lopez has been following his national team's phenomenal rise in the women's world cup down under. as a former player in spain's second division, this final hits very close to home. i've been watching the tv in spain, the radio, and everybody was talking about the final. everybody. my family were commentating. i've never seen that before. i'm still playing, i'm a coach, and i can say now, i can see aitana, alexia, jennifer and i can say, wow, they are amazing. so i think for the kids, for the coaches, for the players, it's amazing that women's football is that big. you wouldn't notice it at first glance, but this team, now one win away from world cup glory, has been marred by so much tension and unrest. at the centre of that is head coachjorge vilda. tensions followed last year's euros defeat against england, with 15 players threatening to quit over concerns about his training methods and inadequate game preparation. cracks were obvious after their humiliating loss against japan. all through the tournament, the deep divisions threatened to spill over on the pitch. it has been a rough year for them, between the players, with the coach. and i think they have just understood that they have to just lay that on one side and just be focused on the world cup, trying to get the best of themselves on the pitch, and i think they have really achieved it. spain managed to write a different story on the pitch. it's a squad that delivers beautiful football, a team chock full of talent who mostly come from barcelona's dominant women's team. the teenage star salma paralluelo, a former runner, has scored in the quarter and semifinals and is now one of the standout players of this tournament. salma paralluelo, i think it's crazy that she'sjust19 years old and she'sjust been fully committed to football for one year. probably she will be one of the best players in the next years. spain's team has exceeded expectations at every crucial junction of this tournament. they've managed to put deep differences aside and create memorable moments on the pitch. they now face england, a formidable foe, for a chance to lift that trophy for the first time. but no matter what the result is, this women's world cup has inspired a whole new generation of young players. it's a testament to how far the women's game has come that many of the players who grew up with only male role models have now themselves become idols. now there's a real opportunity to get into soccer, like there's somewhere to go afterwards. i think that women's popularity has improved a lot. it'sjust been really inspiring - to watch them break so many records. the countdown to the final is on, and there are some very strong opinions here. spain. england. spain. england! shaimaa khalil, bbc news, sydney. we'll return to the women's world cup final before the end of sportsday, but the premier league's two late games bring together three of last season's top four. later it's champions manchester city against newcastle. while at the tottenham hotspur stadium there was a first win for ange postecoglou, and it came over manchester united. ben croucher reports. a place to go home. ange postecoglou stared down his first premier league game against a manchester united side intent on making sure he didn't suffer too soon. and in a week where united were perhaps fortunate not to concede a late penalty against wolves, their appeals in north london fell on deaf ears. their crosses fell on bruno fernandes*s head. hitting the target was the issue. tottenham did at least get closer. commentator: unlucky! but with the post rattled twice in one minute, the end result was zero goals. before half time, anyway, becausejust goals. before half time, anyway, because just after eight... his first tottenham goal, a perfect house—warming gift. spurs couldn't relax, nor could the frame of that goal. even when casemiro improve the accuracy, vicario was equal to it. an open game was decided by a deflection. ben davis will claim it, a lisandro martinez won't want to. i just united's first defeat at the tottenham hotspur stadium, a place where the spurs boss is already feeling right at home. ben croucher, bbc news. earlier liverpool picked up their first win of the season, coming from behind to beat bournemouth at anfield. after going 1—0 down in just the third minute, they levelled through an acrobatic effort from luis diaz. then mo salah had a penalty saved but scored on the rebound. diogojota added a third for liverpool in the second half after new summer signing alexis mac allister had been shown a straight red card. harsh. so we have to speak, not here obviously, but we have to speak about what you can see in the pictures, i couldn't really see it during the game. yes, there is context, but that is it. i think if he gives a yellow card, for example if it was a yellow card, then nobody would have said, by the way, we want to have another look at it. but that is how it is now, we can't get that back. brighton have won both their matches 4—1 after dominating wolves at molineux. solly march grabbed two of the goals while for wolves they've lost two out of two. and brentford also have a 100% record with thomas frank's side winning comfortably at fulham. bryan mbeumo scored twice with yoane wissa getting the other. 3—0 it finished at craven cottage. brighton's win has them top of the table at this very early stage. the other three winners today are just behind them, while both manchester city and newcastle are hoping to claim a second victory in a row in the eight o'clock kick—off. if you are a team and you qualify for the champions league for the next season, it is because you have a really, really good team. when i think in a short time we took overfrom saudi arabia, people in a short time, they put the team there, and they had the feeling that they will stay for a long, long time. eddie howe has created a fantastic team for many reasons, and transitions and possession in the build—up and set pieces and everything, to control everything will be a massive, massive test for us. but we are there for that. we're looking at this game as an opportunity for us to be at our best. yes, we have to concentrate on manchester city's strengths, and we have to try and stop those, but we also have to be ourselves, and we can't change. we want to become a top team consistently in the premier league, and we have to try to become that ourselves. rangers survived a scottish league cup fright against greenock morton before recovering to secure their place in the quarterfinals. a grant gillespie penalty seven minutes into the second half had given the championship side hopes of an upset at ibrox. however, another penlaty, this time from cyriel dessers, followed by this danilo winner eight minutes later took rangers into the last eight. elsewhere ross county progress after beating airdreonians 4—3 after extra time. livingston and st mirren are also through. the first evening session at the world athletics championships wasn't affected in the same way as the morning on day one in budapest. a thunderstorm delayed the action for two hours before spain's alvaro martin won the first gold of the week in the 20km race walk. tonight, though, three more. so let's speak to ade adedoyin who's there last event of the women's heptathlon is taking place behind me now, the the 200 metres. katarina johnson—thompson in fifth place going into this event, she has been hampered by injuries over the last few seasons. this is the best form she has shown since 2019, and she is hoping that she can return to that kind of form. she talked about falling out of love with the event last year when she finished way out of the medals in eugene, but she seems to be in some form. jazmin sawyers, who hasjumped over 6.80 this evening, couldn't replicate that, 6.41 her best, doesn't make the final. and let's hear kolisi in his first game since injuring his acljust four months ago putting malcom marx over inside four minutes. wales recovered through two sam costellow penalties but south africa went back ahead courtesy of canan moodie's third test try. a rio dyer yellow card, a penalty try and a jesse kriel score before half—time left wales staring down the barrell of a heavy defeat and things would only get worse after the break as pieter steph du toit and kriel combined for a length—of—the—field try. the boks would run in a further three, including a second for moodie as they ran out 52—16 winners. south africa face new zealand next at twickenham on friday. one game in super league today with challenge cup winners leigh leopards back in action against the league leaders calatans dragons. and leigh were brought back down to earth after that famous win at wembley. despite leading twice, they eventually succumbed to the french side, losing 30—14 — tom davies with the pick of the tries. dragons are now four points clear at the top, with five games of the regular season to go. it was last weekend of course when leigh won their challenge cup final. there were two on the day at wembley, but there's still one more to go. the wheelchair challenge cup final brings together leeds rhinos and catalans dragons, featuring players who became stars when england won the world cup last year. sally hurst has more. the leeds rhinos may have won the challenge cup three years in a row, but they are not underestimating their opponents, french side catalan dragons. i'm expecting to be out of my chair several times, and probably on bed rest for a week or two after, but that is hanging on in the game, and when you have been in a fight and you have got a few things up your sleeve, i'm sure they have too. after ten years playing the game, captainjodie boyd—ward is used to being the only woman on the team, and isn't afraid to get stuck in. over the years, i have developed this i give as good as i get mentality, if not more, so when i go out there, i make sure i tackle the hardest and defend as hard as possible, because to me, i am just another player on the squad. nathan collins, what an intelligent player he is. nathan collins was part of the team beat france last year, and he is looking forward to going head—to—head with england team—mates who play for catalans. it will be a tough game, but we have played them before, we have shown we can do it last year in the challenge cup, so it will be close, but i think we can do it. that world cup victory did much to raise the profile of the wheelchair game, and led to the rhino is like many other clubs setting up an additional team for new players. it is ace that the players we have got coming into night, we will have 30 people in wheelchairs tonight, some of them who played in the final last year and some who are in their second month of training. i went on a journey where i started playing this game just to get out of the house and get fit, and i went on to play in the world cup final and win trophies, and i want other people to go on that journey. now retired as a player, james simpson is enjoying his new role as head coach. i'm loving this year, just dedicating myself to one thing and the coaching, and where we are now, we've got access to the tv screens, the boards, we can do footage, we can do drills. as a player, i have won everything, and it is time to do something different that was challenging, and i love coaching, so i get the best out of it. i get something i enjoy doing and some that challenges me as well. the wheelchair challenge cup final is on sunday afternoon. the ideal time to tune in after the other big game of the day. yes, indeed. returning to our top story. you might have weekly plans for a sunday morning. they may even be pretty much set in stone. but perhaps this weekend there's a good reason to change them because it's not every sunday morning that england are in a world cup final. frankie mccamley has been to see how some fans are getting ready. she has become a household name in recent weeks. sarina wiegman, england's manager who has led the team all the way to the world cup final. and preparations to watch it tomorrow under way. this team of ladies sold out their watch party at a london pub. a50 tickets went in just four minutes. we have just found that because we create this really a safe space, that plays out, and when the lionesses score, there are serious scenes. the group set up the watch parties after pubs refused to put the women's football on, but since the lionesses have grown in popularity, their parties have grown. similar to the euros, this football tournament does feel very different to the men's, attracting more women, young girls and families. but although it feels different, the excitement and the passion is very much there, with people planning to pack places like this across the country to show their support. the game starts at 11 o'clock on sunday morning, with people heading to the pub is for the build—up beforehand. but some pubs don't have a licence to sell alcohol before 11am, which has raised concerns. the government need to think in advance for events like this, because if we can get punters in early and support the game, it would make a massive difference. this church in bournemouth is cutting its service short to accommodate the match. this sunday we will very much aim to finish at 10.50, and certainly no later, and at that stage, we will give ourselves a bit of a chance to move the furniture, to put the screen up, get the projector sorted, hope that the broadband doesn't let us down. no matter where you decide to watch, what is sure to be a nail—biting match, win, lose or draw. frankie mccamley, bbc news. so not long to go now, and even though the appetites of many have been whet already, we'll do itjust one more time. because of course the women's world cup final is on bbc one tomorrow morning. england, wales and northern ireland, thicker cloud at times through scotland, with some outbreaks of rain, but some brighter moments at times, too. and as we head through saturday night, the showers are still with us across parts of scotland and towards northern ireland. breezy around some western coast. elsewhere, dry with some clear skies. you can see we've got low pressure anchored towards the north—west overnight, higher pressure towards the southeast and that northwest, southeast split sticking with us into sunday. through the early hours, a few showers continuing, many areas dry and not as humid as last night. temperatures here in towns and cities around about the low teens. now, of course, on sunday, all eyes on sydney. and after a lovely winter's day of weather, by the time we reach kick—off into the evening, temperatures around 17 degrees with a light breeze. dry, clear skies. as we head through sunday morning here, at the same time that kick off happens. we'll have some sunshine around for anyone wanting to watch the game outdoors. there will be some showers at times across parts of the west and northwest, warmest in the southeast with temperatures reaching the mid 20s. and then looking ahead into next week, low pressure sticking with us towards the northwest, higher pressure nearby and then things turn a little more unsettled for all by the mid to end part of next week. but here's monday. you can see we've got a weather front bringing outbreaks of rain in towards the west coast of scotland, parts of northern ireland as well. elsewhere, largely dry with a few showers, a bit of a misty start across southern england, but that will lift soon. and the afternoon is set fair with some sunshine. temperatures climbing a little into the mid, maybe even high, 20s across parts of the east and south, fresher further north. on tuesday, a number of showers once again through parts of scotland, northern ireland in towards wales, one or two in towards the south west as well, drier through central and southern england and temperatures again here, mid 20s, cooler and fresher further north. and then looking further ahead now through the wednesday midweek period, you can see we've still got low pressure, but that high pressure in the southeast beginning to get squeezed away. and that means all the warmth that we're seeing across parts of the continent not really coming our way very much at all. things taking a turn to a more unsettled outlook as we head through towards the latter stages of next week. that's the forecast for now. live from london — this is bbc news. at least seven people are killed in a russian missile attack on ukraine. one of the victims is a six—year—old child. more than a hundred are reported to be injured. there is an elsewhere, a first win for ange postecoglou as spurs beat manchester united in the premier league. also coming up on sportsday... kjt clinging on to the top three — she's one of the british medal hopes as the world athletics championships gets under way. and england's rugby world cup preparations hit the buffers again, with defeat in ireland. hello again. well come along to sportsday this evening. for theirfans back home it's the night before, but for the lionesses it's already the morning after. england are waking up on the day of the women's world cup final knowing that only spain stand between them and a significant slice of history. our sports editor dan roan is in sydney and sent us this report. a strong will and an undying belief. england into the world cup final. this is a tournament the lionesses have had to battle through, overcoming injury, the suspension of a star player... and they go through! ..and a penalty shoot—out. but despite such adversity, the team has prevailed, and now they play the biggest game of their lives. you are about to do something which only one other person in history has done, lead an england team out at a world cup final. how big an honour does it feel? does it feel like a dream? yes, it is massive. i think it's the biggest honour, and it will definitely be a game that will go down in my career as one of the best days. i think being able to walk out in a world cup final is one thing, but to be able to be at the front leading the girls out is another, so just feeling really proud and honoured to be leading them out there. transformed by sarina wiegman into a formidable footballing force, england are hoping to add to their euros triumph last year with their first global title. today in sydney, a full squad trained, including laurenjames, who is available again after serving her two—match ban. and so the stage is set for what will be a momentous occasion. when england's lionesses walk out here at the national stadium in sydney, they will know they are on the brink of sporting immortality. but claiming football's ultimate prize will not be easy. they are about to face the highest ranked team they have met here at this tournament. we know spain, they know us well too. it is a team who are very good in possession, that will be a challenge for us. but they also know when we have possession that we can be really dangerous, so i think it is going to be a really tight game, and i hope that everyone will enjoy it. it is clear who i hope is going to win. today in brisbane, sweden beat co—hosts australia in the third fourth play—off. what a finish! a match england have had to contest at the last two world cups as losing semifinalists. here they've gone one better. the challenge now, to secure their place in history. dan roan, bbc news, sydney. while plenty have made the trip to see the final in sydney tomorrow, the prince of wales has apologised for not being one of them. queen letizia is going to watch spain, but william, who is also the president of the fa did send this message to the lionesses. lionesses, we want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow. we're sorry we can't be there in person. but we're so proud of everything you've achieved and the millions you've inspired here and around the world. so go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves. good luck, lionesses! england's lionesses take on spain in what is both teams* first final in the women's event. shaimaa khalil looks at spain's dramaticjourney to the world cup final and how this tournament has inspired young players. and done! gabi lopez has been following his national team's phenomenal rise in the women's world cup down under. as a former player in spain's second division, this final hits very close to home. i've been watching the tv in spain, the radio, and everybody was talking about the final. everybody. my family were commentating. i've never seen that before. i'm still playing, i'm a coach, and i can say now, i can see aitana, alexia, jennifer and i can say, wow, they are amazing. so i think for the kids, for the coaches, for the players, it's amazing that women's football is that big. you wouldn't notice it at first glance, but this team, now one win away from world cup glory, has been marred by so much tension and unrest. at the centre of that is head coachjorge vilda. tensions followed last year's euros defeat against england, with 15 players threatening to quit over concerns about his training methods and inadequate game preparation. cracks were obvious after their humiliating loss against japan. all through the tournament, the deep divisions threatened to spill over on the pitch. it has been a rough year for them, between the players, with the coach. and i think they have just understood that they have to just lay that on one side and just be focused on the world cup, trying to get the best of themselves on the pitch, and i think they have really achieved it. spain managed to write a different story on the pitch. it's a squad that delivers beautiful football, a team chock full of talent who mostly come from barcelona's dominant women's team. the teenage star salma paralluelo, a former runner, has scored in the quarter and semifinals and is now one of the standout players of this tournament. salma paralluelo, i think it's crazy that she'sjust19 years old and she'sjust been fully committed to football for one year. probably she will be one of the best players in the next years. spain's team has exceeded expectations at every crucial junction of this tournament. they've managed to put deep differences aside and create memorable moments on the pitch. they now face england, a formidable foe, for a chance to lift that trophy for the first time. but no matter what the result is, this women's world cup has inspired a whole new generation of young players. it's a testament to how far the women's game has come that many of the players who grew up with only male role models have now themselves become idols. now there's a real opportunity to get into soccer, like there's somewhere to go afterwards. i think that women's popularity has improved a lot. it'sjust been really inspiring - to watch them break so many records. the countdown to the final is on, and there are some very strong opinions here. spain. england. spain. england! shaimaa khalil, bbc news, sydney. we'll return to the women's world cup final before the end of sportsday, but the premier league's two late games bring together three of last season's top four. later it's champions manchester city against newcastle. while at the tottenham hotspur stadium there was a first win for ange postecoglou, and it came over manchester united. ben croucher reports. a place to go home. ange postecoglou stared down his first premier league game against a manchester united side intent on making sure he didn't suffer too soon. and in a week where united were perhaps fortunate not to concede a late penalty against wolves, their appeals in north london fell on deaf ears. their crosses fell on bruno fernandes*s head. hitting the target was the issue. tottenham did at least get closer. commentator: unlucky! but with the post rattled twice in one minute, the end result was zero goals. before half time, anyway, becausejust goals. before half time, anyway, because just after eight... his first tottenham goal, a perfect house—warming gift. spurs couldn't relax, nor could the frame of that goal. even when casemiro improve the accuracy, vicario was equal to it. an open game was decided by a deflection. ben davis will claim it, a lisandro martinez won't want to. i just united's first defeat at the tottenham hotspur stadium, a place where the spurs boss is already feeling right at home. ben croucher, bbc news. earlier liverpool picked up their first win of the season, coming from behind to beat bournemouth at anfield. after going 1—0 down in just the third minute, they levelled through an acrobatic effort from luis diaz. then mo salah had a penalty saved but scored on the rebound. diogojota added a third for liverpool in the second half after new summer signing alexis mac allister had been shown a straight red card. harsh. so we have to speak, not here obviously, but we have to speak about what you can see in the pictures, i couldn't really see it during the game. yes, there is context, but that is it. i think if he gives a yellow card, for example if it was a yellow card, then nobody would have said, by the way, we want to have another look at it. but that is how it is now, we can't get that back. brighton have won both their matches 4—1 after dominating wolves at molineux. solly march grabbed two of the goals while for wolves they've lost two out of two. and brentford also have a 100% record with thomas frank's side winning comfortably at fulham. bryan mbeumo scored twice with yoane wissa getting the other. 3—0 it finished at craven cottage. brighton's win has them top of the table at this very early stage. the other three winners today are just behind them, while both manchester city and newcastle are hoping to claim a second victory in a row in the eight o'clock kick—off. if you are a team and you qualify for the champions league for the next season, it is because you have a really, really good team. when i think in a short time we took overfrom saudi arabia, people in a short time, they put the team there, and they had the feeling that they will stay for a long, long time. eddie howe has created a fantastic team for many reasons, and transitions and possession in the build—up and set pieces and everything, to control everything will be a massive, massive test for us. but we are there for that. we're looking at this game as an opportunity for us to be at our best. yes, we have to concentrate on manchester city's strengths, and we have to try and stop those, but we also have to be ourselves, and we can't change. we want to become a top team consistently in the premier league, and we have to try to become that ourselves. rangers survived a scottish league cup fright against greenock morton before recovering to secure their place in the quarterfinals. a grant gillespie penalty seven minutes into the second half had given the championship side hopes of an upset at ibrox. however, another penlaty, this time from cyriel dessers, followed by this danilo winner eight minutes later took rangers into the last eight. elsewhere ross county progress after beating airdreonians 4—3 after extra time. livingston and st mirren are also through. the first evening session at the world athletics championships wasn't affected in the same way as the morning on day one in budapest. a thunderstorm delayed the action for two hours before spain's alvaro martin won the first gold of the week in the 20km race walk. tonight, though, three more. so let's speak to ade adedoyin who's there for us. the 100 metres is not at that stage yet, but zarnel hughes has at least had his heat?— had his heat? yes, zarnel hughes raced in his _ had his heat? yes, zarnel hughes raced in his first _ had last event of the women's heptathlon is taking place behind me now, the the 200 metres. katarina johnson—thompson in fifth place going into this event, she has been hampered by injuries over the last few seasons. this is the best form she has shown since 2019, and she is hoping that she can return to that kind of form. she talked about falling out of love with the event last year when she finished way out of the medals in eugene, but she seems to be in some form. jazmin sawyers, who hasjumped over 6.80 this evening, couldn't replicate that, 6.41 her best, doesn't make the final. and let's hear good day for the distance runners. laura muir has shown over the years she is a contender. but when it comes to the finals, you would never bet against the person who won an olympic silver and bronze medal year at eugene. ade, thank you very much indeed, bbc two for coverage of the world athletics championships. owen farrell's game didn't go the way he wanted it to. no owen farrell in the match naming his squad for the tournament in france on monday. i wonder how it might have been affected by this afternoon's heavy defeat by south africa. the springboks wasted little time in cardiff. siya kolisi in his first game since injuring his acljust four months ago putting malcom marx over inside four minutes. wales recovered through two sam costellow penalties but south africa went back ahead courtesy of canan moodie's third test try. a rio dyer yellow card, a penalty try and a jesse kriel score before half—time left wales staring down the barrell of a heavy defeat and things would only get worse after the break as pieter steph du toit and kriel combined for a length—of—the—field try. the boks would run in a further three, including a second for moodie as they ran out 52—16 winners. south africa face new zealand next at twickenham on friday. one game in super league today with challenge cup winners leigh leopards back in action against the league leaders calatans dragons. and leigh were brought back down to earth after that famous win at wembley. despite leading twice, they eventually succumbed to the french side, losing 30—14 — tom davies with the pick of the tries. dragons are now four points clear at the top, with five games of the regular season to go. it was last weekend of course when leigh won their challenge cup final. there were two on the day at wembley, but there's still one more to go. the wheelchair challenge cup final brings together leeds rhinos and catalans dragons, featuring players who became stars when england won the world cup last year. sally hurst has more. the leeds rhinos may have won the challenge cup three years in a row, but they are not underestimating their opponents, french side catalan dragons. i'm expecting to be out of my chair several times, and probably on bed rest for a week or two after, but that is hanging on in the game, and when you have been in a fight and you have got a few things up your sleeve, i'm sure they have too. after ten years playing the game, captainjodie boyd—ward is used to being the only woman on the team, and isn't afraid to get stuck in. over the years, i have developed this i give as good as i get mentality, if not more, so when i go out there, i make sure i tackle the hardest and defend as hard as possible, because to me, i am just another player on the squad. nathan collins, what an intelligent player he is. nathan collins was part of the team beat france last year, and he is looking forward to going head—to—head with england team—mates who play for catalans. it will be a tough game, but we have played them before, we have shown we can do it last year in the challenge cup, so it will be close, but i think we can do it. that world cup victory did much to raise the profile of the wheelchair game, and led to the rhino is like many other clubs setting up an additional team for new players. it is ace that the players we have got coming into night, we will have 30 people in wheelchairs tonight, some of them who played in the final last year and some who are in their second month of training. i went on a journey where i started playing this game just to get out of the house and get fit, and i went on to play in the world cup final and win trophies, and i want other people to go on that journey. now retired as a player, james simpson is enjoying his new role as head coach. i'm loving this year, just dedicating myself to one thing and the coaching, and where we are now, we've got access to the tv screens, the boards, we can do footage, we can do drills. as a player, i have won everything, and it is time to do something different that was challenging, and i love coaching, so i get the best out of it. i get something i enjoy doing and some that challenges me as well. the wheelchair challenge cup final is on sunday afternoon. the ideal time to tune in after the other big game of the day. yes, indeed. returning to our top story. you might have weekly plans for a sunday morning. they may even be pretty much set in stone. but perhaps this weekend there's a good reason to change them because it's not every sunday morning that england are in a world cup final. frankie mccamley has been to see how some fans are getting ready. she has become a household name in recent weeks. sarina wiegman, england's manager who has led the team all the way to the world cup final. and preparations to watch it tomorrow under way. this team of ladies sold out their watch party at a london pub. a50 tickets went in just four minutes. we have just found that because we create this really a safe space, that plays out, and when the lionesses score, there are serious scenes. the group set up the watch parties after pubs refused to put the women's football on, but since the lionesses have grown in popularity, their parties have grown. similar to the euros, this football tournament does feel very different to the men's, attracting more women, young girls and families. but although it feels different, the excitement and the passion is very much there, with people planning to pack places like this across the country to show their support. the game starts at 11 o'clock on sunday morning, with people heading to the pub is for the build—up beforehand. but some pubs don't have a licence to sell alcohol before 11am, which has raised concerns. the government need to think in advance for events like this, because if we can get punters in early and support the game, it would make a massive difference. this church in bournemouth is cutting its service short to accommodate the match. this sunday we will very much aim to finish at 10.50, and certainly no later, and at that stage, we will give ourselves a bit of a chance to move the furniture, to put the screen up, get the projector sorted, hope that the broadband doesn't let us down. no matter where you decide to watch, what is sure to be a nail—biting match, win, lose or draw. frankie mccamley, bbc news. so not long to go now, and even though the appetites of many have been whet already, we'll do itjust one more time. because of course the women's world cup final is on bbc one tomorrow morning. england, wales and northern ireland, thicker cloud at times through scotland, with some outbreaks of rain, but some brighter moments at times, too. and as we head through saturday night, the showers are still with us across parts of scotland and towards northern ireland. breezy around some western coast. elsewhere, dry with some clear skies. you can see we've got low pressure anchored towards the north—west overnight, higher pressure towards the southeast and that northwest, southeast split sticking with us into sunday. through the early hours, a few showers continuing, many areas dry and not as humid as last night. temperatures here in towns and cities around about the low teens. now, of course, on sunday, all eyes on sydney. and after a lovely winter's day of weather, by the time we reach kick—off into the evening, temperatures around 17 degrees with a light breeze. dry, clear skies. as we head through sunday morning here, at the same time that kick off happens. we'll have some sunshine around for anyone wanting to watch the game outdoors. there will be some showers at times across parts of the west and northwest, warmest in the southeast with temperatures reaching the mid 20s. and then looking ahead into next week, low pressure sticking with us towards the northwest, higher pressure nearby and then things turn a little more unsettled for all by the mid to end part of next week. but here's monday. you can see we've got a weather front bringing outbreaks of rain in towards the west coast of scotland, parts of northern ireland as well. elsewhere, largely dry with a few showers, a bit of a misty start across southern england, but that will lift soon. and the afternoon is set fair with some sunshine. temperatures climbing a little into the mid, maybe even high, 20s across parts of the east and south, fresher further north. on tuesday, a number of showers once again through parts of scotland, northern ireland in towards wales, one or two in towards the south west as well, drier through central and southern england and temperatures again here, mid 20s, cooler and fresher further north. and then looking further ahead now through the wednesday midweek period, you can see we've still got low pressure, but that high pressure in the southeast beginning to get squeezed away. and that means all the warmth that we're seeing across parts of the continent not really coming our way very much at all. things taking a turn to a more unsettled outlook as we head through towards the latter stages of next week. that's the forecast for now. live from london — this is bbc news. at least seven people are killed in a russian missile attack on ukraine. one of the victims is a six—year—old child. more than a hundred are reported to be injured. there is an overarching reason behind russian missiles landing in ukrainian cities, and that is its continued invasion. the bbc understands that pakistani police have been assigned to find a father of a young girl found dead at home. and there has been an data breach had the police of northern ireland. with this special message. lionesses, we want to send you a huge good luck for tomorrow. we're sorry we can't be there in person. but we're so proud of everything you've achieved and the millions you've inspired here and around the world. so go out there tomorrow and really enjoy yourselves. hello and welcome. i'm rajini vaidyanathan. we start in ukraine, which says at least seven people have been killed, and more than a hundred injured, in a russian missile attack in the northern city of
