england's first penalty, but after two nigeria misses, chloe kelly was given the chance to win the game for england and her succesful spot kick sent the lionesses through to the quarter—finals where they will face either jamaica or colombia. we dig deep as a group and we believe in our ability and first and foremost, we believe in what we are getting told to do. this team is special, we did it in the euros and we are here again tonight and we keep pushing forward. we stuck together as a team. of course it was a very hard game. we made it through the extra time and we won the penalties and how we did that as a team, the team just kept going and i am so proud of them. co—hosts australia are also through to the last eight after a convincing win against denmark. caitlin foord put the matildas ahead shortly before the half hour mark in sydney, after breaking in behind the danish defence. hayley raso made it 2—0 in the second half as they secured the quarter—final spot. australia have only reached this stage once before, in 2015, and they'll face either morocco or france in their next match. the crowd is massive. they will continue to be our 13th man and it helps you push through when it gets tough. you can't beat it, every game has just been awesome and we want to keep doing it and experience it more and more and keep our dream alive. tottenham have rejected bayern munich s latest offer for harry kane. bayern had been hopeful of doing a dealfor the england skipper but bbc sport understands the two sides remain apart in their valuation.the german champions had suggested if their bid was unsuccessful they would walk away from the deal. kane scored four goals in sunday's pre—season friendly against shakhtar dontesk. britain's dan evans has won the first atp 500 title of his career, after beating tallon griekspoor in the citi 0pen final in washington dc. evans came through 7—5, 6—3 against the dutchman, following a 90—minute stoppage for rain. play was suspended at two games each in the second set, but after the re—start evans cruised through his remaining service games and broke serve in game eight. he then saved four break points in the penultimate game. the win sees the 33—year—old climb to 21 in the world rankings. just from, i wasn't playing very well to do the work i've done and to stick with it and come through, and the last game sort of summed up my week, got out of trouble and it was an amazing week and i really appreciate all the support. meanwhile, coco gauff beat greece's maria sakkari in straight sets to take the women's title. the world number seven was knocked out of wimbledon in the first round last month, but bounced back in style in her first tournament since that defeat, taking the match 6—2, 6—3. i would say i'm heading in the right direction. both areas of my game can improve a lot more. i know a lot of people try to stay away from that side but i feel like there are moments where i can improve and affect work especially, so i would say i'm in the right check. i feel like i can always get better. and that's all the sport for now. lawyers for the former pakistani prime minister, imran khan have been in court today, challenging a decision over the weekend to jail him for three years. his lawyers say he is being held in "deplorable conditions" in jail but remains in "good spirits." he was sentenced, on saturday, for failing to declare money earned from selling state gifts, while he was in office. after the verdict he was taken from his home directly to prison. he has denied the charges. we can cross now to lahore, where we can speak to salman safdar, a lawyer representing the former prime minister. i will come to today's meeting in just a moment but briefly, your reaction to what happened on saturday? it reaction to what happened on saturday?— reaction to what happened on saturda ? ., , , ~ . saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that — saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran _ saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran khan _ saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran khan has - that? no, i think it's two entirely different demographics. we - that? no, i think it's two entirely| different demographics. we need that? no, i think it's two entirely i different demographics. we need to be mindful that the capacity at this barge has been more than doubled. we need to be mindful that these traumatised people that haven't consented to going on that barge or not. as workers being paid, they have no money, they are incredibly isolated, no integration support, no ability to learn english, to learn about life in the uk. it's a very different situation from someone taking a job that involves sleeping on a barge for a period of time. we were just hearing from our correspondent that some of facilities on board and there are supposed to be language centres as well. do you accept that that bill of £6 million a day that is currently happening with the hotel bills, that is an issue for governments that they need to find solutions for?— solutions for? absolutely, i accept that. i solutions for? absolutely, i accept that- i think— solutions for? absolutely, i accept that. l think it's _ solutions for? absolutely, i accept that. i think it's absolutely - that. i think it's absolutely disgraceful government spending that much money on the asylum system and let's render why they are spinning that much money on the asylum system because the numbers were higher 20 years ago and we didn't need hotels, we didn't need barges and barix. the reason that we have this problem is that this government has catastrophically failed to make any asylum decisions and that has led to this backlog. the cheaper situation would just be to make asylum decisions, give people the right to work and then reform easier access so those people don't need to make those dangerous crossings. thank you for our those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time — those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time for _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining us _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining us on - england's first penalty, but after two nigeria misses, chloe kelly was given the chance to win the game for england and her succesful spot kick sent the lionesses through to the quarter—finals where they will face either jamaica or colombia. we dig deep as a group and we believe in our ability and first and foremost, we believe in what we are getting told to do. this team is special, we did it in the euros and we are here again tonight and we keep pushing forward. we stuck together as a team. of course it was a very hard game. we made it through the extra time and we won the penalties and how we did that as a team, the team just kept going and i am so proud of them. co—hosts australia are also through to the last eight after a convincing win against denmark. caitlin foord put the matildas ahead shortly before the half hour mark in sydney, after breaking in behind the danish defence. hayley raso made it 2—0 in the second half as they secured the quarter—final spot. australia have only reached this stage once before, in 2015, and they'll face either morocco or france in their next match. the crowd is massive. they will continue to be our 13th man and it helps you push through when it gets tough. you can't beat it, every game has just been awesome and we want to keep doing it and experience it more and more and keep our dream alive. tottenham have rejected bayern munich s latest offer for harry kane. bayern had been hopeful of doing a dealfor the england skipper but bbc sport understands the two sides remain apart in their valuation.the german champions had suggested if their bid was unsuccessful they would walk away from the deal. kane scored four goals in sunday's pre—season friendly against shakhtar dontesk. britain's dan evans has won the first atp 500 title of his career, after beating tallon griekspoor in the citi 0pen final in washington dc. evans came through 7—5, 6—3 against the dutchman, following a 90—minute stoppage for rain. play was suspended at two games each in the second set, but after the re—start evans cruised through his remaining service games and broke serve in game eight. he then saved four break points in the penultimate game. the win sees the 33—year—old climb to 21 in the world rankings. just from, i wasn't playing very well to do the work i've done and to stick with it and come through, and the last game sort of summed up my week, got out of trouble and it was an amazing week and i really appreciate all the support. meanwhile, coco gauff beat greece's maria sakkari in straight sets to take the women's title. the world number seven was knocked out of wimbledon in the first round last month, but bounced back in style in her first tournament since that defeat, taking the match 6—2, 6—3. i would say i'm heading in the right direction. both areas of my game can improve a lot more. i know a lot of people try to stay away from that side but i feel like there are moments where i can improve and affect work especially, so i would say i'm in the right check. i feel like i can always get better. and that's all the sport for now. lawyers for the former pakistani prime minister, imran khan have been in court today, challenging a decision over the weekend to jail him for three years. his lawyers say he is being held in "deplorable conditions" in jail but remains in "good spirits." he was sentenced, on saturday, for failing to declare money earned from selling state gifts, while he was in office. after the verdict he was taken from his home directly to prison. he has denied the charges. we can cross now to lahore, where we can speak to salman safdar, a lawyer representing the former prime minister. i will come to today's meeting in just a moment but briefly, your reaction to what happened on saturday? it reaction to what happened on saturday?— reaction to what happened on saturda ? ., , , ~ . saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that — saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran _ saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran khan _ saturday? it was indeed shocking. we would say that imran khan has - move in that case? it's a short sentence of three years and i move in that case? it's a short - sentence of three years and under normal circumstances, we would file an appeal in the high court for suspending the sentence. the difficulty is that during the past three days, two and a half days, lawyers were denied access meeting imran khan and seeking head signatures and authorisation on the relevant documents. he has been taken away, kept in jail relevant documents. he has been taken away, kept injail in relevant documents. he has been taken away, kept in jail in the most inhumane conditions where denial of access to his lawyers, to his family and... * , , ., access to his lawyers, to his family and... * , ,., ., ., and... but members of your team have met him today? _ and... but members of your team have met him today? yes, _ and... but members of your team have met him today? yes, this _ and... but members of your team have met him today? yes, this finally - that. i think it's absolutely disgraceful government spending that much money on the asylum system and let's render why they are spinning that much money on the asylum system because the numbers were higher 20 years ago and we didn't need hotels, we didn't need barges and barix. the reason that we have this problem is that this government has catastrophically failed to make any asylum decisions and that has led to this backlog. the cheaper situation would just be to make asylum decisions, give people the right to work and then reform easier access so those people don't need to make those dangerous crossings. thank you for our those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time — those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time for _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining us _ those dangerous crossings. thank you for your time forjoining us on -
