expected. they won the house by small majority, but they didn't get the senate. part of that was blamed on donald trump using this, pushing this claim of election fraud, fielding election deniers who didn't win their races. that put out the electors. while donald trump may be popular with his base and with republican voters, i think the big question that's coming — is this a reckoning for the american election? will they look at all of this? this indictment from georgia and all the criminal cases that are piling up against donald trump which i played out, will they look at all of this and "pervasive and destabilising lies" and that he repeated those claims to "create an intense national atmosphere of mistrust and anger". the reason all this language is important because what they are trying to prove and what is key to their case is intent. and to prove intent, they need to prove that donald trump knew what he was saying was not true. now, let's look at the legaljargon itself. the first charge is conspiracy to defraud the united states. now, that has to do with the way the government collects, counts and certifies votes, and they're saying donald trump allegedly tried to interfere with that. next, these two charges are related — conspiracy to obstruct and official proceeding, obstruction of an obstruction of an official proceeding. now, both of these relate to the electoral college votes being counted onjanuary 6th and the voting certification process that they say donald trump allegedly tried to obstruct. and finally, conspiracy against rights of citizens. that's about the right us citizens have to vote and have their votes counted, and they're accusing donald trump of allegedly trying to interfere with those rights. now, another interesting takeaway in the indictment comes to co—conspirators. they say there are six. now, they're not naming them nor are they charging them, but based on publicly available information, the bbc has been able to piece together who some of them are. the first is rudy giuliani, a well—known member of donald trump's legal team. now, he has said that this indictment is "an abomination", and his own lawyer has said it does appear he is co—conspirator one in the indictment. the bbc has also identified john eastman, a constitutional lawyer who was part of donald trump's team. and according to us media, they're speculating that the others could include sidney powell, who is a conservative lawyer who was part of his legal team, jeffrey clark, a former department ofjustice lawyer, as well as kenneth chesebro, a lawyer. now, the sixth one has not been identified yet. now, legal experts are saying a key defence for donald trump could be the first amendment right to free speech. as far as donald trump is concerned, right now, he's calling the indictment part of "an un—american witch—hunt against him". maggie hayman of the new york times said an e—mailtrump maggie hayman of the new york times said an some clearer spells developing later on in places, as well, and temperatures by dawn around about 11—13 celsius. storm patricia, that area of low pressure will be heading into southern scandinavia, taking the wet and windy weather with it. and then, as we head into thursday, the wind direction changes. we get a cooler north—to—northwesterly breeze, but it may well be a dry day for many places. there'll be some sunshine, particularly early on. cloud will build up, though, almost anywhere could see a shower, and some of them will be heavy and thundery — especially, i think, across southeast scotland and northern parts of england. but if you get a bit of shelter from that northerly wind, places like glasgow could see temperatures up to 20 celsius. it should be warmer in the southeast, as
