evidence emerges of a drinks party held in the number ten garden during the first lockdowm, when large groups were banned from meeting outdoors. the i leads on the same story — it says that the invitation was sent by the prime minister's principal private secretary to more than a hundred people. in the daily mail — witnesses say that boris johnson and his wife carrie were among the a0 guests attending the party. but the prime minister has declined to say whether he was among those there. the times says the prime minister is piling pressure on his scientific advisers to cut the covid isolation period from seven days to five. it comes as health chiefs admit they misread guidance from the us when they opposed a change. the telegraph has a photo of tennis star novak djokovic back on the tennis court in australia after after winning a court battle that overturned his visa cancellation. while the financial times leads on the impasse in the us—russian talks aimed at calming tensions over ukraine. russia has warned that that it will walk away from diplomatic efforts if the west continues to ignore its demands, including a ban on nato enlargement. so, let's begin. we will start him entry to australia. he tweeted he's looking forward to defending his australian open tennis title. but a former wimbledon champion feels if djokovic does compete, the going might be tough. marion bartoli said events over the last few days could be mentally draining for him. djokovic is on for a record 10th title in melbourne, and a landmark 21st grand slam overall. i think he can work his way through the first week and be at his momentum to the second week. it's more how mentally and psychologically you will be affected by all of this in the headlines, he is really the best one is under pressure and yet, it's more about how the crowd is going to react, if he has the stadium against him and booing, how much will it affect him? it is really hard to tell in advance. nick kyrgios has spoken out about how the djokovic situation has been handled — and he might have a situation of his own to deal with. krygios revealed he's tested positive for covid—19. he said he was feeling healthy and had no symptoms, but with the australian open starting a week from today, his participation must be in doubt. kyrgios pulled out of last week's melbourne warm—up event, due to an illness that sparked his asthma and although he tested negative at the time, today he confirmed he had contracted the virus. the colombian has set his sights on france again this summer and challenging as he aims rafiq. headingley was due to host england's test against new zealand and one—dayer with south africa in july. ireland's second one—day interntional against the west indies injamaica on tuesday has been postponed after more positive covid cases in the tourists' camp. a joint statement from cricket ireland and cricket west indies said the ireland squad had been left 'severely depleted' and the two bodies were now in talks about reviewing the match schedule. ireland are due to play three one day internationals altogether and also one t20 match. and that's all the sport for now. hello. after a fairly grey drizzly sort of day on monday, more places will see the sunshine on tuesday. clearer air is working its way south across the uk behind this cold front here, which is only slowly pushing southwards. so we've still got quite a lot of cloud around. the cloud and drizzle will slowly clear southwards through the day, so a reappearance of sunshine from the north, but some of us will hold onto the cloudy drizzly conditions all day in the far south. so we start off with quite a contrast in temperature, mild towards the south, but temperatures a few degrees either side of freezing first thing for scotland, northern ireland and the far north of england as well. this is how tuesday is looking then, you can see the clearer skies for much of the uk, as this band of cloud and drizzly patchy rain sink south. a bit of mist and murk particularly around and hills for southern england and south wales too, lasting all day. but mild here, 10—11 celsius, in the clearer, sunny skies, between about 6—9 celsius, a few showers just rattling in across the north and west of scotland. through tuesday evening and overnight now into wednesday, eventually, we will lose that cold front, that band of cloud and drizzle from the south. so clearer skies for all as we move on into wednesday morning. breezy in the north and milder air here, double figures overnight. but further south, we are likely to see a frost to start your wednesday morning. so moving through wednesday, then, once we have lost that cold front, we've got high—pressure building really across the uk, so that's going to bring a lot of dry and settled weather, but a change in temperature because this milder air is coming in from the southwest around the top side of that high—pressure, so moving into northern parts of the uk. further south, we're sitting under the colder air. so, really, from mid—week onwards, we've got a bit of a split. it's mild and breezy in the north, whereas further south, colder with some fog patches that could linger for quite a time. that's how wednesday looks, then we've got the cloudier, breezier conditions across parts of scotland in particular. fog patches further south, it will slowly clear away, and then a lot of dry and sunny weather. we've always got that bit more cloud and a few showers in the far northwest. here, 11 degrees for stornoway, and about 7 degrees or so for london. and a few places could struggle where we keep that fog. through the day on thursday, some of that fog could be quite extensive and slow to clear across parts of england and wales too. breezy and cloudy in the far northwest, plenty of sunshine elsewhere, but we could see those lingering fog patches all day for a few areas. bye— bye. welcome to newsday, reporting live from singapore, i'm
