across western scotland, but i suspect in eastern scotland we could get 17 degrees, something down to what is called the phone effect. not that, i mean, but you will have to check. the average is 9 degrees, so way above the average, between five and 8 degrees above average for the time of yearand and 8 degrees above average for the time of year and then a complete change by the time we get to sunday where we have a northerly wind and it looks a little bit like a cold snap but it's not going to be a cold snap but it's not going to be a cold snap because we will go from around 15, 16, 17, snap because we will go from around 15,16,17, down to snap because we will go from around 15, 16, 17, down to 9 snap because we will go from around 15,16,17, down to 9 degrees and remember i showed you that that is actually the average where it should be. that's all from the bbc news at six hello i'm olly foster, here's what's coming up on sportsday. azeem rafiq tells mps that racism in cricket goes way beyond yorkshire. to make it very clear, even myself, there's a real problem here and not just yorkshire, throughout the country. we'll be live in cardiff, where wales will be looking for at least a draw against belgium. and the first chinese driver on the formula one grid, guanyu zhou will break new ground next season. azeem rafiq, says racism in cricket goes way beyond his former county yorkshire, and that the problem is institutional in the english game. he faced a parliamentary select commitee this morning and detailed his experience of racial harrassment and bullying in two spells at the club. julian knight, chair of the dcms committee, described his testimony as harrowing. just a warning, there is some offensive language coming up. asa as a young kid from pakistan living with a dream to represent england, i joined the dressing room full of my heroes. michael vaughan, matthew part of the 2005 ashes team, and it just was the most surreal moment for me. i enter that dressing room. pretty early on, me and other people from asian backgrounds, those comments such as you let it sit over there near the toilets. elephant washers. and the word expletive was used constantly. there do seem to be an acceptance in the institution from the leaders and no one ever stamped it out. i don't think anyone thought there was anything wrong with that and that's probably why some people don't even remember it. and in 2070 whatever the difficult pregnancy through that time. the treatment that i received were inhuman. there were not really bothered about the fact that i was at training one day and i got a phone call to say that there is no heartbeat. i have seen other players have family tragedies and get support beyond measure. and i have just carried my son from the hospital to the graveyard, and how i am getting treated here is not right. and to me it became very clear that even myself i had been looking the other way. there's a real problem here notjust yorkshire, throughout the country. what has happened to me has happened, it will never change. but my aim was to try and see if my experience can help others. i feel like there's three facets of this. he hopes out of this crisis. what next for the county? it was a chastening day for english cricket and if it needed a wake—up call eventually today was that. the recovery will not be easy, but there has been a call for urgent and sustained action to address everything that was raised today in the committee hearing. we know there will be reviewed by the ecb and a city lead review at yorkshire as well. there will be worked to address representation at every level of the game following what azeem rafiq said the drop off in participation as players move at the pyramid. it's notjust at the county level but at the ecb level as well. because there's a sense that there's cause lasting damage in the spirit of the game has demonstrated. mp said there was a sense that the reputation of english cricket was on the floor. now, azeem rafiq said he will continue to keep holding the game to account and clearly he said he wants to be a voice for the voiceless. tom harrison said the survival of the game depends on how it responds to this. let's head to to headingley and the county at the centre of azeem rafiq's original allegations, our sports correspondent katie gornall is there. katie we heard we heard some, at times, it harrowing and shocking emotional testimony today. when he thinks that azeem rafiq has always stressed with that it was never aboutjust one or two individuals here at headingley, he said that the problem with racism in cricket was and structural, and scary was how he described it. that's something we can talk a bit more about now with a lawyer and sports a quality adviser. thank you so much forjoining us. first we like to get your take on everything that you have heard today. there is shock, that you have heard today. there is shock. outrage. — that you have and yorkshire they have sports. it's clear if we are looking l at cricket and yorkshire they have a huge amount to do to rebuild and regain trust in the community. what do you feel the chances of that happening are, and if you are advising them now what would you be saying is that we have got to be positive. lord patel is a positive appointment. he is saying all of the right things and that familiar face does help to breed that confidence. but he has got to have a team of people at the committee can really trust. itjust seems to me what came out today is the asian community has been taken for a ride. if the asian participation was not they are, then cricket would be a minor game. asians have been ensuring that the ecb and cricket continues to receive funding. we have been taken for a ride and it has not been that voice challenging cricket like football has. certainly plenty to ponder going forward. thank you so much for joining us. one of the things that azeem rafiq has called for, members of the community has called for is meaningful change. they were watching his testimony today will feel that the lease he deserves. i met let's get more on this from former england player monty panesar. do you see it as a watershed moment? i do see that and as we heard from the testimony, it was jaw—dropping, heartbreaking and the bravery and courage that he showed it something that we should admire and hopefully in years to come this will be a significant moment and a good change for cricket. add sport overall in this country. it for cricket. add sport overall in this country-— this country. it is certainly empowered _ this country. it is certainly empowered other - this country. it is certainly empowered other players | this country. it is certainly l empowered other players to this country. it is certainly - empowered other players to come forward with their own experiences as well. do you agree with notjust the claim today but other figures in front of that committee that this goes beyond yorkshire and is institutional racism in the game? well, it's difficult for me to comment in terms of if yorkshire is an institutionally racist organisation. we need to hear more evidence because the ecb are willing to listen to x players, ex coaches, and a people who are participating at grassroot levels. to get a full understanding to the extent of this problem, how deep is racism in cricket? so there is a hotline for people to ring up and speak, and so i encourage people to share their stories. this is fully investigated and a thorough understanding of how deep this discrimination in our wonderful game stop what you have talked about sports on the whole, football when it deals with racism either online or in the stands and talks about societal issues. sport can't be immune to issues in society. this is a slightly different one because cricket is being accused of failing to act. i think they have not had a thorough system in place. and a very circular structure at the moment. and also some people trying to question the committee itself. it's interesting to see that. how far racism is in this country because even the government, their issue on racism is that they believe that england is not a racist country.— that they believe that england is not a racist country. many thanks for “oininu not a racist country. many thanks forjoining differently, i suppose, as roberto did even before kick—off, italy still have a receipt exam to get themselves to the world cup but there's a sense of revisiting national trauma because of course the last world cup italy missed out after losing their playoff head—to—head with sweden. this is an even more complicated playoff this time around because this time is 12 teams going forjust three is go not here but by failing to win at home to bulgaria in theirfirst failing to win at home to bulgaria in their first competitive game right after winning the euros. they lost this group by coming to against against switzerland and both of them having a penalty which they failed to convert so it's a really strong sense of if we just took our opportunities would never have come down to this final game, that's what roberto is trying to focus on, he's telling everyone look, i'm so very confident we are going to the euros, and shows the details can we just need to get the details right. but of course when you go on a run like this, when you are failing to win over and over again and if you are not losing, after while everyone else in the outside starts to ask, are you really in control of the situation? or is it something that's beginning to get away from you? what meg trying to think about it too much it will ruin chris's. ? christmas. human rights organisation amnesty international bleak for derby county, on top of a 12 point penalty for going into administration, they've been docked another nine points for accounting iregularities. that puts wayne rooney*s side on minus three points in the championship, 18 points from safety. i spoke to bbc radio derby*s chris coles it is not come as a great surprise to derby county fans they have been detected another nine points because this long—running saga with the english football league has been exactly that, it's been going for such a long time from the riches of profit and sustainability rules has been known for quite a while, it was always the case of how severe the penalty was going to be, and if this indeed is the end of it i think fans will say, ok, we'll take the as long as club can move forward now hopefully with
