martin will be backjust after 11:30pm we —— 11:30pm. we have got sport and weather coming up. stay with us. good evening. i am holly hamilton with your latest sports news. england and scotland have moved a step closer to next yea r*s world cup after winning their qualfiying games tonight. the scots are into the play—offs after beating moldova 2—0. england thrashed albania 5—0 at wembley, which means theyjust need a point from their last game against san marino to qualify automatically for qatar 2022. our correspondent natalie pirks has the details. # 0 flower of scotland... # belting it out like their lives depended on it. scotland's mission was simple — beat moldova and the travelling tartan army would be guaranteed a playoff spot for their first world cup since *98. but it wasn't all one—way traffic. scotland, though, were by far the better side and finally broke the deadlock before half—time. that will do! an exquisite backheel set up scotland for the cushion they craved. and craig gordon's penalty save was the icing on the playoff cake. the tartan army in raptures. the dream is still alive. england's match with albania began with a moment of reflection. music: the last post what followed was a stroll in the park. harry maguire got the first, harry kane's head got the second. the goals kept coming. jordan henderson made it three, kane's left foot made it four, and the perfect hat—trick wasn't far behind. how's this for acrobatics? played in towards kane! he may not be in golden form for his club, but for england, kane shines. all goals in the first half, 5—0 the final score. northern ireland were in action as well this evening. they can no longer qualify for the tournament in qatar, but they did get their first competitive win at windsor park in two and a half years as they beat lithuania i—o. ian baraclough's men move back up to third in group c ahead of monday's game against italy. frank lampard has dropped out of the running to become the new norwich manager. the former chelsea boss had been in talks about succeeding daniel farke at carrow road but won't be taking charge. it's understood norwich have also spoken to former aston villa manager dean smith about the job but are yet to make a decision. the chair of essex county cricket club, john faragher, has resigned following an allegation he used racist language in a board meeting in 2017. essex say they're looking into why the matter was not fully and independently investigated at the time. faragher stood down from his post following a board meeting yesterday evening and strongly denies the allegation. essex say, "there's no place for discrimination of any kind at the club." the ecb are also investigating. lewis hamilton will start sunday's sao paulo grand prix with a five grid places penalty for "exceeding the permitted number of engine parts". he was fastest for mercedes in qualifying this evening, so will be on pole for tomorrow's sprint race, but the engine penalty means he can't start sunday's main race higher than sixth on the grid. hamilton trails verstappen by 19 points with four races remaining. definitely isn't the perfect situation, but it could've been worse had they changed more than just the combustion engine. he could have faced a penalty to be back of the grid, so it is only five places for sunday's race. mercedes seem to be worried about degradation of the engine, as they called it, and they said had they not changed it, it could have gotten worse, and weaker. red bull, however, say that mercedes had a straight—line advantage of about 15 kilometres per hour compared to what red bull. for this race, actually, red bull is the favourite, not only but partially because of the high altitude. the pressure is deafly on hamilton, and he says every race from now on is a must win. england have been dealt another blow in the build up to their autumn international with australia tomorrow after prop ellis genge tested positive for covid—i9. genge featured for nearly 70 minutes in the win over tonga last weekend, but his replacement in that match — joe marler — is unavailable after returning a positive covid test on monday. the rfu says he's isolating and that no other positive results have been returned by players or staff who were all tested today. sale prop bevan rodd will replace genge. ireland had a covid scare on the eve of their game against new zealand when one of their players tested positive. the player involved, who hasn't been named, then tested negative in two further tests so has been cleared to play. the irish face the all blacks in dublin tomorrow afternoon. gloucester ran in 1! tries as they thumped bath by 71—10 in the premiership. bath have lost all seven of their games this season. the latest humbling comes less than a month after a record 71—17 league home defeat by saracens, where they conceded io tries. there was drama at cheltenham this afternoon, wherejockey rachel blackmore showed some incredible skill to win. blackmore, on board her horse gin on lime, on your right, was second coming to this fence when both horses came down. she somehow managed to stay on board and recovered to go win the race, ahead of the favourite my drogo, who is fine following this fall, ishould mention. blackmore was crowned the leading jockey at the cheltenham festival back in march and once again showed her class at prestbury park. and that is all the sport for now. from all the team here, enjoy the rest of your evening. good night. hello. well, the weather's quiet out there right now, and that's how it's going to stay through the course of the weekend. we have some sunny spells in the forecast, but generally speaking, i think a fair amount of cloud on the way. and it is going to be mild and a particularly mild morning, way above the average for the time of the year. now, this cloud is a low pressure which swept across the country during the course of friday. here is early hours of saturday out in the north sea. and in its legacy, this high pressure here, this ridge of high pressure, builds in. but it's also a fairly cloudy area of high pressure. some breaks in the cloud through the night, around scotland, maybe the lake district, into lancashire, but further south, pretty overcast. and look at those temperatures — 11 degrees in the south, 7 degrees in the north. it should be closer to between 3 and 6 degrees, really, this time of the year. so here's the weather for saturday, sunshine developing across central areas of the uk. in fact, some areas could end up being quite sunny, but either side of that, in the east and the west, i think a fair bit of cloud. really mild, ia degrees in the south, around 12 or 13 in the north. so high pressure stays in charge of the weather through the course of the weekend, but this weather front starts to nudge in during the course of sunday, so there will be some rain around in the western isles, but the vast majority of us, a dry day. and again, sunny spells possible almost anywhere on remembrance sunday. and again, look at the temperatures, ia in london, ia in belfast, a little bit fresher there in scotland, 11 degrees. the average is closer to around 10, 12 this time of the year, so we're not massively above the average during the day. it's the nights that are really, really mild. here's monday's weather forecast. bit of a change. some rain getting in, light, though, into perhaps northern parts of england, maybe wales too, but generally speaking, it stays on the mild side and dry for most of us, at least. so i think a cloudier day at least on the way for monday. and then tuesday, perhaps a little bit of rain getting into scotland as well, but from around wednesday onwards, that's when the weather is expected to turn a little bit more unsettled. but on the whole, looking at the picture, it could be a lot worse this time of the year. it is a spell of relatively quiet weather upon us right now. bye— bye. this is bbc news with the latest headlines for viewers in the uk and around the world. climate activists pile on the pressure for world leaders to reach a deal, at the cop26 summit in glasgow. as cop26 summit heads into extra time, the man in charge calls for one last push, to reach a deal we have come a long way over the past two weeks. and now we need that final injection of that can—do spirit, which is present at this cop, so we get this shared endeavour over the line.
