TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Robby Martin hit two home runs and had five RBI and freshman pitcher Carson Montgomery struck out nine batters in 4.2 innings, leading Florida State (7-6) past No. 5 Florida (13-5) 10-2 Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium. Catcher Mat Nelson added his team-high fifth home run and the FSU bullpen combined to allow just one hit in 4.1 innings of relief. The win was the second straight for FSU over a Top 5 Florida team, beating the No. 1 Gators in Gainesville 2-0 last season. It is the Seminoles first win against Florida in Tallahassee since 2015. Montgomery made his third start of the season and looked every bit the player that was the highest-rated recruit to reach campus this summer. The Windermere native struck out nine, allowed three walks and a pair of runs, both coming in his last inning of work. He exited the game one out shy of his first win as a Seminole.
