ALLIANCE Police said they seized illegal drugs they believe were being sold as they found three people hiding in an Alliance home Sunday night, according to Stark County Jail record. Investigators said they searched for a half hour before they found the three suspects: a wanted man accused of raping two women in October, another man they say has been selling methamphetamine and marijuana and the woman who has a protection order against him. John W. Powell, 30, of South Arch Street, has been wanted since December on two rape warrants, according to Stark County Jail and court records. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman and another woman on Oct. 7 in a house on Meadowbrook Lane. One of the women was "substantially impaired" and sleeping, and the other woman was "substantially impaired because of drug use," at the time, according to the court records. The warrants were issued Dec. 15.
