Albany airport receives $4.95M in coronavirus relief funding FacebookTwitterEmail COLONIE — Albany International Airport will receive $4.95 million in federal pandemic support as it continues to face a significant drop in activity, U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced Thursday. “Air travel is vital to the connectivity and success of the Upstate economy, which is why, as New York battles a second wave of the pandemic, I fought tooth and nail in negotiations to get airports the funding they need to keep services running,” Schumer, the new Senate Majority Leader, said in announcing the funding. "Arports, travel, and tourism will be a critical part of our economic recovery and these federal dollars will help airports across Upstate New York continue providing high-quality and safe transit when travel takes off,” said Gillibrand.
